Although I’m really enjoying Castlevania so far(I’m currently finished with the 2nd season), I wish Dracula’s defeat was extended to Season 3 instead of done in Season 2. Everything felt so rushed and plot heavy to make it to that point. For me, Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard’s bond didn’t feel as strong as fans made it out to be. They felt like friends by the end but not close enough for me to believe Alucard will miss them a lot. I think two or three more episodes of the trio bonding would’ve made it better. This feeling kind of follows with Trevor x Sypha. I love their moments but I need more of them before they become a couple.
Also, I wish there was more limitations and power scaling done for the characters, mostly for Sypha. I wish there was more development of her strength rather than her being so great with magic without repercussions. For example, when Sypha used the spell to move Dracula’s castle, which is said and shown to be difficult, she didn’t look tired at all and continued to use her magic without difficulty. I like that she is so capable but seeing limitations makes her more realistic and gives her room to grow. I will say her difficulty fighting Dracula helped slightly alleviate that opinion, yet I want to see Sypha struggle and grow. I hope the next two seasons will give me that.

Since the finale, I’ve been watching some of my favorite episodes and scenes of DSN. I love Fiat’s mostly sex positive attitude and agency but I do wonder how much he censored himself for fear of Leo’s judgement. Like in this scene:
Fiat, are you sure about that?
Because what Leo said:
And what Fiat said:
… and because you really want to try bondage with him? Seeing as you totally came up with the “tie me up” on your own. 😏
Leo is basically talking about restricting everyone else’s social access to Fiat. Fiat fluidly moves to the idea of restraining his body. (I wish I knew thai in case this is a translation thing but doesn’t seem like that to me.) Me thinks Fiat’s been holding out on some kinky desires of his own.
Character growth??? 😂😂😂
Honestly though, considering how they exuded serious D/s vibes since before they were even together, they were always going to end up exactly where they did. The innocence of a new relationship was never going to last. Luckily the love, however, is for forever with this one.
Ep.1 & Ep.12 🤭🤭
Okay, so the DSN special episode. Initial thoughts, I’m over all happy with it but kind of underwhelmed.
I feel like the entire thing was basically Leo and Fiat flirting while flaunting what a deeply committed couple they are, their friends being cute yet overly concerned with Fiat’s sex life (although can I really blame them?) and Leon and Pob missing each other both emotionally and literally.
While I wished we could skip the drama back in episode 10-11, I have to admit that without the lows, the highs don’t stand out as much. Still, I loved every scene with Leo and Fiat together. Although I have mixed feelings about the NC scene. I didn’t really expect anything much more out there in terms of kink than what we’ve already seen on the show but I had a little hope in my heart that was unfortunately crushed. The acting was actually pretty fire and it was shot in appealing angles. The scene might have been one of my favorites but whoever chose the music for that scene should be fired. In terms of character development and growth as a couple, they really did seem more settled and that was heartwarming to see. I especially loved the improved communication and Fiat being very comfortable showing what he wants. It feels like they got some of their comfort level back from their best friends days.
Other than that, there was nothing really new. Most notable was probably the development in Fiat and Leon’s brotherly relationship. I enjoyed their scenes. Leon and Pob were meh to me, although James was so funny in the bts part of the special. I didn’t know he was that funny. I feel like there will be more to come for this couple but I’ll miss Leo and Fiat’s. I can’t see them as leads anymore when the couple is already so solid.
For anyone considering whether or not to buy, if you enjoy Leo and Fiat just being the absolute cutest, you will not be disappointed.

Rewatching sailor moon made me realize just how much character growth Usagi had
Like she’s still a romantic crybaby but she’s really selfless and became an amazing role model and leader for her sailor Senshi

Athena’s journey from the cold-blooded warrior who only worked with the best of the best and refused to admit she had a friend, to the defender who saved a young man from an uneven fight, to the goddess who laid down her pride and ultimately begged for Odysseus’ life and freedom… just… (screams into pillow)

And trusting Bea to answer her. How many times did she wonder “why are you upset with me?” About Francis, Superion, Lilith. About people who were ‘supporting’ her but failed to do so because they were upset with her. For reasons they lied about, or blamed on her, or just hid. Ava treats everything in the first couple of episodes with humour as her defence mechanism, her only way to get perceived control. She stops using humour to seriously ask Bea “why are you upset with me?” And Bea does. Reigns in her upset and bares her heart just to show Ava why she’d been acting that way and that she truly is sorry.
I love how Ava immediately says “okay but why are you so mad at me?” when Beatrice lashes out the first time. It’s not just that she understands that there’s more going on here than her being a little slow on the uptake sometimes because Beatrice has been training her for the past few hours and she’s been incredibly patient with her, and Ava knows how kind and understanding Beatrice is from basically all of their prior interactions. It’s also that she genuinely wants to know, there’s a deep desire to understand what made Beatrice lash out, a “there’s more to it than you’re telling” type of curiosity to find out who Beatrice is which drives her to ask that question. It’s Ava probing just a little deeper to find out why this, of all things, was triggering to Beatrice, not even so much so she can avoid it in the future but simply to put together the intricate puzzle that is Beatrice.
granted love like the galaxy was a romantic story circling ling buyi and cheng shaoshang I definitely think the arc between shaoshang and lou yao was needed and actually a little overlooked. he wasn’t written as an excess character to fuel the jealous nature of the lead, rather he was a big part of shaoshang’s growth. their relationship didn’t end badly per se, and she didn’t just all of a sudden realize her love for him was platonic and MORE than that shaoshang saw companionship in ah yao. she felt comfortable with him, and she liked being with him. even when he was a little meek, he stood up for himself because of shaoshang and he became a better man for her too. comfort is a form of love and shaoshang was more than fine marrying him for that reason, and neither of them ever wavered when they were together. people were pretty quick to dismiss their relationship once it ended, and continued to think of ah yao as her brother because they never had any intimate scenes but he was one of the first few people who truly cared for shaoshang. he helped her when she needed it the most and while her feelings for him may not have been mutual and reciprocated on equal wavelengths, she loved ah yao too. she worried for him, she wanted the best for him and fought for him. ultimately, I think what ah yao and shaoshang had was special and lot more intentional and integral to the foundation of the drama than a lot of second male lead/support character arcs.

TRENT IS NO SERVANT!!!
I absolutely hope Trent gets more than enough character development in the upcoming seventh season. His days as a college intern would be history, gain a new level of courage, and have all the freedom he truly deserves. As for Mandy, I anticipate that she displays character growth (more anger management and less raging behavior) especially around Trent.

Annabeth Chase - Character Growth at its Finest
I’m writing this because recently I have seen many people say that they really dislike or hate Annabeth and don’t know why people like her. I want to explain why people like Annabeth and why I personally find Annabeth a compelling character who I can relate to.
Annabeth starts out the series as a jaded young girl who has lead a rough life. She has been experiencing monster attacks since she was five or six. She ran away from home at the age of seven because of the emotional abuse her stepmother put her through due to the near constant monster attacks. She had terrible nightmares and her father neglected her. She would have died from either monsters or starvation if she wasn’t found by Thalia and Luke. They quickly became her new family. Annabeth loses this newfound family Thalia through sacrifice and Luke through betrayal. Due to these events she doesn’t trust others easily and avoids attachment because anyone she does get attached to leaves by either their own free will or force. Annabeth tries to solve her own problems and doesn’t trust others to solve her problems. This is partially due to her hubris, her fatal flaw, and her negative experiences with her father and step mother in her early life. All of these flaws come from an understandable place and they grow and change as the series goes on.
Annabeth’s inability to easily trust others and fear of being left by her loved ones is a large part of her character in the Percy Jackson series and even affects her in the heroes of olympus series. She initially treats Percy with indifference and even uses him as a distraction, so she can capture the opposing team’s flag. It’s only when she goes on a life threatening quest with him that he gains her trust fully. In the sea of monsters she is wary of Tyson because he is a cyclops one of the monsters that almost killed her and her makeshift family. She grows to realize that he isn’t like most cyclopes. Then later there is Rachel Elizabeth Dare. Annabeth feels that Rachel threatens her place in her new “family”. Rachel can see through the mist and likes Percy. This essentially makes Annabeth useless in her own eyes. Rachel can lead them through the labyrinth and all of Annabeth’s research was for naught. Rachel also has the guts to admit to Percy that she likes him, something that Annabeth herself hasn’t been able to do. She feels as though she is losing her place in the group as well as Percy. Annabeth later comes to terms with Rachel and they become good friends. Later Annabeth is put into a similar situation with Reyna. Reyna developed feelings for Percy and made a move on him. She doesn’t dote on that fact and has grown enough to where she knows that Percy won’t leave her like others in her life. She also comes around to trusting Reyna much quicker than Rachel. Annabeth trusts her enough to ask her to take the Athena Parthenos to camp half blood and solidify the bond between the greek and roman demigods. This is also why she desperately wants to prevent losing Percy in Tartarus. She has already lost her family twice and she doesn’t want it to happen a third time. Percy is the only person who hasn’t left her at any point and been with her through both her highest highs and lowest lows and vice versa.
Annabeth’s fatal flaw causes her a lot of problems throughout the Percy Jackson and heroes of olympus series, but in the Magnus Chase series she understands she can’t solve every problem by herself and sometimes she needs to let others sort out their own problems. In the Percy Jackson series her hubris causes her problems when it comes to Luke Castellan. She believes that Luke’s betrayal is her problem and that she should be the one to solve it. This backfires for her until the final book. In the last olympian she talks to Luke and tries to convince him to see the error of his ways, but she ultimately lets Percy and Luke make their own choices. In the mark of Athena she realizes there is a time and place to rely on others and do things herself. While it may not seem that significant, but this is a turning point where she realizes that just like how she needed to follow the mark of Athena on her own others have things they need to do on their own separate from her.
This is an overview of her growth as a character and her reasoning behind her actions. It is because of these changes and actions that she is one of my favorite characters throughout Rick Riordan’s mythological world.
