You’re Losing Me
Pairings: Eren Jaeger x Reader
Summary: Is love truly enough? Enough to stick around even when you feel yourself slowly dying from it? Can it truly ever be enough?
| Masterlist |
She couldn’t breathe. She could feel her lungs pushing against her ribcage while looking for the oxygen they begged to inhale. Her heart throbbed against them, looking for any sign —no matter if it was painful— to remind itself that it still lived. That it could still beat.
She didn’t think she could blame her heart for the need to make sure it could still beat, not after the words she had just uttered to the reason it had been beating so harmoniously for so long.
“We’re done”
She didn’t even know she had said it until she saw his eyes widen in disbelief. She didn’t even know she’d ever truly have the courage to say it out loud.
But she had. It was done.
“What—why? Y/N, baby, what’s—I don’t understand”
Hurt. That’s all she could see on those blue-green eyes she had always found comfort in. Those who had always looked at her with so much love it had been unbelievable. Those eyes who lately hadn’t shined in her direction even once.
She could hear her pulse all throughout her body. She could hear it as loudly as if her heart had been pressed against her ears.
Could she truly say it again? Could she be brave—strong enough to utter those painful words one more time? Did she really have to?
“We’re… we’re done, Eren” she weakly whispers.
It pained her, of course. It truly felt as if she was forced to talk after swallowing glass, her throat and mouth filled with blood that stopped her from formulating the words as loud as she should’ve.
Eren shook his head in disbelief. Everything in his body felt numb. It felt as if someone had thrown a cold bucket of water at him and left him outside during winter with not even a jacket to give him a sense of warmth. This couldn’t be happening. He didn’t understand why it was happening.
“I don’t understand” he whispers weakly “I don’t… Y/N, please…”
“The fact th-that you don’t understand” she sobs weakly, the tears she had fought so hard to contain flowing freely down her cheeks, “Is even mor-more reason why we must bre-break up”
“Did I do something?” He asks, tears accumulating in his eyes “What did I do? I ca-will fix it”
She wanted him to stop. She didn’t want to hear him.
All this time she had been wanting him to fix what he had broken. All this time she had been waiting for him to realize that he was hurting her. That loving him was killing her. All this time she wanted him to give her one reason to stay.
And all this time he hadn’t.
“You can’t fix it”
Her voice once soft and weak became hard and pained. All the hurt she had to endure this last year coming back full force, giving her the strength she needed to save herself from self destructing. The strength she needed to not give in.
“It’s too late to fix it” she finalizes “I’ve been waiting all this year for you to fix it. I’m done waiting”
“Y/N—”
“Do you know how hard it was to watch you push everyone, including me, away?” She sobs “How hard it was to watch you shamelessly flirt with every girl that looked your way while I was right there at your side waiting for you to notice me? How hard it was to see you shrug off our relationship, our friendship, as if it was nothing?”
Eren’s eyes widen even more, if possible. Had he truly been doing that? He knew he had change, he knew he had closed off on his friends after his parents passing, but they had never once left his side. She had never left his side. No matter how hard he pushed. Or how cruel he was.
And then last year he had gotten his shit together. She had helped him with that. He had pushed all his pain onto something productive and had become the university’s star quarterback.
Is that when it all started? When his dull grief-striking eyes and neutral face had become the bad boy mysterious persona every girl wanted to date and every boy wanted to be. Was it then when he decided to play along to all of it just to not feel alone, to feel worthy, forgetting what he truly had always had by his side?
Had it really come to this? Had he really taken for granted what he had by believing he always would have it?
“We—I would’ve stayed with you through anything” she continues “I stayed through everything. No matter how bad it was. But… I’m out of reasons to stay”
“I love you”
Three words. Three words he had never once uttered in that year. Three words she had remembered herself those 365 days to keep fighting.
Those three words had already lost its meaning.
“Loving isn’t enough anymore”
And she turned around going for the door. He scrambled out of the bed he had been sitting while looking up at her as fast as he could.
She couldn’t leave. If she left it became real. If she left he wouldn’t be able to fix what he had broken.
Had he really broken the best thing that had happened to him? The one thing in his life that still gave him hope?
He tried to grasp her hand, to stop her from leaving, but she had already opened the door and crossed it. His hand met the wooden frame as her body started making her way through the hallway, away from his dorm.
How had it come to this?
It had been a year after Eren’s parents death through a tragic car accident. A year since Zeke, Eren’s older half-brother, had taken his custody. It had been a hard year. Eren’s eyes had lost its incomparable spark and his smile had ceased to exist.
Mikasa, Armin and Y/N, his closets friends since childhood, along with the rest of their gang had done everything they could to help him. Even when he snapped at them, spitting cruel words that fed into their insecurities, they never left his side. He pushed and pushed with all his might, anything to keep them away in fear of ever feeling the tightness in his chest of losing someone he loved again. But they pushed back. All of them. Never once giving in.
They knew he was hurting. They knew it. And they would never leave his side while he did so.
So they stuck around no matter how hurt they got along the way. Because it was Eren, and Eren deserved to have people fight for him as hard as he used to fight for them.
Y/N became the best fighter among them.
She would take his cruel malicious words with grace before embracing him against her warmth, letting him let out all his anger and sadness on her. Promising to carry it on her shoulders in hopes of lifting some from his, as small as the portion was.
And day by day, night by night, she stood tall by his side. Never once letting him fall.
He was thankful, even when he didn’t voice it. She had giving him something constant, something he could hold onto when the waves that came crashing towards him in hopes of drowning him got to him. She kept her hold steady and unfaltering, keeping him afloat.
So, when had he started taking it for granted?
“Eren Jaeger, isn’t it?”
He had been waiting outside the Economics classroom for Y/N’s class to finish so they could go have lunch when the captain of the cheerleading squad Historia was a part of first spoke to him.
It wasn’t that people didn’t know him around university, they did with him being the quarterback, he just wasn’t someone that you would think was easy to approach. So people normally didn’t. Not that he minded, he had all he needed with his friends and you by his side.
He nods, coldly.
But she smiled. As brightly as possible, her hazel eyes shining under the hallway’s lights.
“Last week’s game was amazing! You were so fast, it seemed nobody could ever come close to catching you” she giggled.
His cold demeanor melted slightly, not used to compliments from other than his coach and friends. Most people just clapped him on the back as a way to congratulate him, too afraid to say something to him.
He nods again in thanks.
“We, the cheer girls and the team’s boys, were thinking of holding a small get-together to celebrate the win” she continues “We’d like you to come. We know you don’t like those sceneries, as you’ve made clear before, but Connie and Jean are going. Reiner and Bertolt too”
He stays quiet.
“Just wanted to formally invite you. Hopefully the rest of your teammates going, the ones you’re actually close with, persuades you”
Before Eren can refuse, the bell rings and the door he was standing beside bursts open. Students cross it without even batting an eye.
Eren’s eyes soften once he catches a glance of you and the bright sincere smile you send his way when you see him. All under the cheerleading’s watchful curious gaze.
“Ren” you kissed his cheek before looking at the girl he was talking to, “Chloe! Hi! I haven’t seen you in a while, still battling with Calculus?”
The blonde girl, Chloe, groans, “Ugh, Mr. Ackerman is still the worst”
Both girls share a laugh under Eren’s curious gaze. Did they known each other? For the laugh you just shared and the familiarity in which you talked with one another he guessed you did. How? He guessed that through a class since he hadn’t ever seen you hang out with other girls that weren’t Mikasa, Sasha, Historia or Ymir.
“You know each other?”
His voice is cold and dull, but his gaze on you is soft. So soft that Chloe isn’t sure she imagined it. She didn’t know he could have a gaze as soft as that with the cold lifeless way he glared at everything around him.
And yet, Y/N smiled as if he had just told her she was the most beautiful girl to ever exist.
“We do! We met during Ackerman’s Calculus class last semester”
“This little genius became our teacher’s favorite while I am stuck with him once more” the blonde beauty groaned.
“You’ll get it this time. I can help you”
That’s something he had always loved about you. The selfless way you tried to help everyone in every little way you could.
“You’re an angel, Y/N” she smiles “How do you two know each other?”
Y/N’s smile brightened if possible, “This is my adorable boyfriend that I’ve told you about”
Chloe’s eyes widen in disbelief, “Eren Jaeger is the all-loving charismatic too-good-to-be-true childhood best friend told lover you’ve told me about?”
You laughed before nodding making Chloe’s eyes widen even more.
For Y/N, Chloe’s face was funny and innocent. Eren, on the other hand, understood the gleam of uncertainty in the blonde’s eyes. It was obvious she was trying to comprehend how the perfect boyfriend you had describe was the university’s feared lifeless bad boy.
It made him angry to feel as if he wasn’t worthy of you, he already thought so himself so seeing someone else think that made his blood boil.
He wanted to prove to everyone and to himself that he was worth it, that he could be worthy of you. So he did the one thing that condemned you both without even knowing it.
“When’s the party?”
The party had been eventful and unexpected. None of their friends had expected Eren and neither had they expected the way he had behaved that night. He had drank and talked, and even though he hadn’t laughed or smiled he had become this unapproachable guy that now everyone wanted to approach.
His aura was intoxicating. And like a moth to the flame, everyone would fly towards him as if he was holding the matches.
Mikasa, Armin and Y/N had watch with uncertainty the amount of attention Eren was receiving. But moreover, the way he seemed to be bathing in it. It was a weird sight. Eren had never been one to want attention, he always got it without looking for it though. But he had never seek it.
So why was he seeking and bathing in it now?
“Well…” started Armin “At least he seems okay”
Y/N nodded a little uncertain, but Mikasa frowned.
“I don’t like this” she muttered “Feels like the start of a disaster”
“Don’t frown, Mika” Y/N said lovingly, “Maybe this is what he needs to open up more. He’s been getting better, so maybe… maybe this is his way of trying to go back to who he is”
“I don’t know”
“We have to trust him” Armin added, “It’s not like he’s doing anything bad anyway, he’s just making friends”
Mikasa’s frown deepened but she let herself be guided out of the living room towards the kitchen by her two closest friends. She had a bad feeling about all of this, she just hoped she was wrong.
But they had all come to know a long time ago that Mikasa’s instincts were never wrong. Especially concerning Eren.
The first time they realize that something was wrong was during their monthly movie night between the Scouts, as they like to call themselves since their camp days where all they met and became friends. It was that night that Eren first truly disappointed them.
[ Can’t make it. Party at Floch’s. Srry ]
That’s all his text to the group chat had said. Not only had he totally blown them off on their tradition, but he hadn’t even bother to invite them. It was maddening. Especially since Connie and Jean were also invited to said party and refused to go because of their plans.
It weirded them all out. If they had invited Reiner and Bertolt and they cancelled they could’ve understood, they were close but not that close.
It had always been Armin, Mikasa, Eren and Y/N until camp. And then it had become Armin, Mikasa, Eren, Y/N, Jean, Connie, and Sasha. More had been added along the way, but the seven of them were as tight as possible. Nothing could ever come in their way, so why did it suddenly feel like something could?
They spent their movie night in an uncomfortable silence. Not even Jean, who always took every opportunity he could to insult Eren, said something.
And then one movie night missed became two and three until they just stopped expecting him to come.
At university, Eren barely found them to spend time with them during his breaks or lunch as they were used to. Instead they were forced to look for him all throughout the campus, always finding him surrounded by other team members or cheerleaders.
And even then, Armin and Y/N tried to convince themselves this was just him trying to become socially available once again. No matter how many times Mikasa told them she didn’t believe that was the case.
Their disappointment reach its breaking point when Armin received an ‘SOS’ text from Mikasa asking him to go to their dorm, only to find a dolled up sobbing Y/N on the dark-haired beauty’s embrace. Eren had missed their anniversary date to hang out with Floch. Y/N could’ve probably let it slide if it hadn’t been for the any times he had already cancelled —and stood her up— before.
That was the last straw for Armin.
He had seen you, Y/N, his childhood best friend give your all to the blue-green-eyed boy. Since the moment you both had met Eren and Mikasa, you had always given all you could give to Eren. Especially the last couple of years when he had started to become unstable. You had never given in. Never had you left him alone, no matter how many reason you’d had.
So what gave him the right to make you cry?
Armin never again excused his behavior after that night. Him and Mikasa always standing beside you as you had to endure the attention from girls Eren was receiving, especially when he seemed to enjoy it so much. More than once had they offered to give him a peace of their minds, begged you really, but you had refused. You didn’t know what was going on through his head but you had faith in him. Faith that he would figure it out and fix it, as he had always done before.
You had waited for the whole year.
Your last straw came on your birthday. Just a month after Christmas, which Eren failed to celebrate with the Scouts again in their traditional small gathering on the 25th.
Your friends had all prepared you a surprise party, which they had planned through a secret group chat in which Eren had failed to text back every time. The party was set to start at 10 o’clock at night at Armin’s house, giving you enough time to spend the morning as you always did with your family and the rest of the day with Eren, as they all had been used to since you two started dating exactly five years ago when both of you were fifteen. It was perfect, honestly, you’d be too distracted with the brunette boy to find suspicious why they all had been MIA.
Except Eren didn’t show up at your doorstep. He hadn’t even called or texted.
Which meant you spent the rest of the day before the party locked in your room crying silently while you wondered why.
Only to find out through Floch’s instagram story he was at his house, with an unknown girl under his arm.
By the time Mikasa had gone to pick you up at your childhood home, you were asleep on your bed with swollen eyes and dry tear and mascara stains on your cheeks. She had gasped at the sight, not understanding what had happened. At least until she saw what was on the phone —which was still unblocked— you held softly in your grasp.
And the dark-haired beauty saw red.
She had texted Armin and soon the party had moved to your living room, and instead of a party they turned it into a movie night. They decorated the place and made a blanket fort, Annie even going as far as going to buy some fairy lights to put all over the place.
By the time Sasha went to wake you up and helped you get ready, all of them hid awaiting your arrival.
It had helped heal your broken heart a little.
Still you couldn’t ignore what had been going on for long enough anymore. You had finally ran out of excuses.
So the next week when Armin went to the dorm you and Mikasa shared, you knew. And they knew you knew. So they held you, all day and night, trying to give you the strength you’d need to do what was right for you.
And you did.
And that’s how you’d both gotten to this stage of your story. As painful as getting there had been.
Eren fell to the floor. His knees had given out. He had been frozen on his spot, watching the door intently as if that would somehow make you come back. He thought he had been doing the right thing, he thought he had finally start becoming someone worthy of you. Someone that deserved to be loved by someone as good as you.
He was sobbing. He didn’t even know when he had started, but his body shook with the force of each sob.
He didn’t know what to do. How could he keep going without your unwavering presence beside him giving him the strength he needed to fight back against the cruel world they lived in?
That’s how Armin found him when he came back from his classes. Hugging his knees to his chest on the floor as he sobbed his heart out.
“So she actually did it, huh?”
His teary gaze found his best friend’s stone cold one.
“I d-don’t… Ar-Armin, I don-don’t unders-understand”
“You don’t understand?” He scoffed, “You missed every single movie night we’ve had for a year. You’ve missed every date you guys planned. You missed your anniversary, Christmas, the New Year. And you don’t understand?”
Eren stares, dumbfounded. Had he truly missed all that? He couldn’t even remember properly at this moment.
“You even missed her birthday” Armin continued, “It was last Friday, FYI”
Another sob wrecks through his body. Your birthday, he had missed your birthday. He didn’t even remember the last time he had ever missed one and now he had completely forgotten about it.
What was wrong with him?
“I truly don’t know what was going through your head all this year. Nor why you did every single thing you did” Armin sighed “I’m just glad she finally had the courage to walk away. You were killing her. Everytime you flirted with another girl, every time you blew her off, you were killing her. I’m glad she finally walked away”
Eren had no idea something could hurt this much after his parents’ passing. But it truly hurt more to know he had lost the person he loved the most when she still was at arm’s length.
Especially when this time there was nothing nor no one else to blame but himself. He had pushed you too far this time and you weren’t coming back.
He had lost you.
Patience
Pairings: Eren Jaeger x Reader
Summary: It was just a childhood crush, right? If your heart skipped a beat every single time your eyes crossed or if your palms started to sweat with every lingering touch, it was just because of what you used to feel as a kid, right?
| Masterlist |
It was just a childhood crush. Nothing else. That’s what you’d heard all your life. And who could really blame you with how close you two had always been? No one. Truly, everyone around you both had expected one of you to grow a crush sooner or later.
You just wish it hadn’t been you. Everything would’ve been easier then. Cause nothing was worst than having a crush on THE Eren Jaeger.
If only he had never smiled your way maybe your heart would’ve been spared.
Tears started gathering in your eyes as you stared at your best friend dancing with another of your close friends. You couldn’t even find it in your heart to be mad. How could you when you knew how sweet and kind Historia was? You couldn’t blame Eren for choosing her, if there was ever really a choice to make.
You try to move your gaze away but all your strength was gone. It was as if your brain was unwilling to hide the truth from your heart, as if it had finally been enough.
A comforting arm settles itself across your shoulders and a body soon finds itself in front of you, shielding you from the heartbreaking scene.
“Don’t look, Y/N” you hear Armin say, he’s the one holding you safe under his arm.
“Let’s go home” says Mikasa, who’s shielding your view.
You can’t find your voice so you just nod weakly. Your best friends seem to understand though, and soon both are guiding you to the doors of your school gymnasium where the homecoming dance is being held.
Honestly, you knew this would happen someday. Eren had never shown any sign of reciprocating your feelings.
It still hurt though.
Armin and Mikasa keep quiet throughout the drive home, both allowing you to feel safe in their silence; neither asking you to voice how you’re feeling at the moment. You’re thankful for them, without them you’re not sure you’d even think about the possibility of mending your broken heart.
“You sure you don’t want us to stay with you tonight?”
You stare at them with a blank gaze, slowly shaking your head.
Mikasa and Armin share a look before nodding in understanding, promising to come check on you tomorrow. Waiting until you’re inside your home before even moving towards their car.
Only once you’re sure you’re safe inside your house and that they have left the driveway is that you allow yourself to crumble.
“Mom” you whimper “Mom! MOM!”
Your body is shaking and your voice is a dead giveaway that something is wrong, which makes your mother wake up alarmed and run downstairs.
The sight she is greeted with is one that breaks her heart in a way not even your father’s death could.
Your knees are wobbling and your whole body is trembling, it’s a miracle she reaches you in time before you fall down, gathering you safely in her arms as you allow yourself to break down for the first time that night.
“Shhh, sweetheart. It’s okay. Whatever happened it’s okay”
You sob, gut wrenching sobs that make your mother want to shed a few tears herself.
You spend the night in your mother’s arms, crying until sleep finally catches up to you. It’s your mother who greets Armin and Mikasa the next day, whispering how you need more time before you’re ready to see them. Both quietly explain the situation to your mom and she promises to let them know as soon as you’re ready to see them.
“Honey”
You hug your blanket tighter around your body.
“It’s gonna be okay, sweetheart” she tries again, hugging you from behind “It was just a crush, it’ll be okay”
“It wasn’t a crush” you choke “Mom, I—I love him. I love him, mom”
Her eyes widen without your knowledge and she curses herself for not seeing it sooner. Of course it wasn’t a crush, at least not anymore.
The way you’d always cling to him since you were kids, the way you’d follow him everywhere, how you always helped him study so that he’d never fall behind, how you were at each of his basketball games screaming at the top of your lungs.
It may have started as a crush but you both had grown up, your feelings had grown too.
She should’ve seen it. You wouldn’t spend a whole night baking his favorite cake for his birthday when you could buy it just for a crush. You wouldn’t leave everything behind just to answer his call just for a crush. You wouldn’t be the first to clean his wounds after another of his stupid fights just for a crush.
You had fallen in love with him. With every part of him. Even the ones he, or anyone around him, was not proud of.
“Oh, honey” she soothes “It’ll be okay. You may not believe me, but you’ll be okay”
She sighs, holding you tighter.
“You’ll fall in love again” she promises “And it’ll be just as great and as painful as this time. But you’ll fall in love again”
“I don’t want this to hurt, mommy” you sob “Why does it have to hurt?”
“Because every feeling that made you go up has to come down sooner or later. Sweetie, the greater the love, the greater the pain. That’s the rule” she sighs “But it’ll be okay. You’re strong, you’ll get through this. You’re just one heartbreak closer to happily ever after, just have a little patience”
The next day, although still hurting, you get out of bed and answer Armin and Mikasa’s texts, asking them to come for a movie night. You ignored Eren’s.
JaegerBomb: Y/N you left homecoming early?? What happened?
JaegerBomb: You probably fell asleep. Text me when you wake up, doofus, got a lot to tell you.
JaegerBomb: Morning, sleeping beauty!!
JaegerBomb: Hey, I’m getting a little worried. U okay?
JaegerBomb; Y/N what’s going on?? Answer your phone.
JaegerBomb: I’m gonna file a missing person’s report!!
You hesitated before locking your phone. You weren’t going to answer. You couldn’t. Not because you were mad at him, you had no reason to be mad. You weren’t answering because you needed to move on. You couldn’t be there every time he texted anymore.
You had to stop being his person, cause you weren’t his.
Armin and Mikasa came to your house as planned and it was honestly what you had needed all that time. Having their shoulders to cry on was enough to mend your broken heart, at least a little. They made you laugh and smile in a way you didn’t think possible to do with the pain you felt.
You sometimes forgot that your life didn’t revolve around Eren. Being so used to always being at his side, to always call him whenever you were upset or happy, you’d sometimes forget that Mikasa and Armin always stood beside you through the path. Never once abandoning you. It was nice to be reminded of how much you still have, with how much your heart felt was losing.
Eren, meanwhile, was confused and worried. Carla, his mom, watched with a curious gaze as he paced back and forth in front of her, trying to argue with her about going to the police cause it wasn’t normal that you weren’t answering him.
“Eren, honey, she could be busy”
“No, mom, she always answers!” He almost screams “This is not normal! What if something happened to her? Mom, we have to go!”
It was truly an interesting sight. Eren who had grown up to hide his feelings behind a blank space was openly expressing his worry. Somehow you were always the one to let her catch a glimpse of her old sweet boy.
Carla sighs, “Can I at least call Y/M/N first? Just before you jump to conclusions?”
Eren grunts but nods. Carla sighs once more before grabbing her phone, dialing your mother’s number. Eren waits anxiously by her side, making her worry he’d run to the door any second with how fidgety he was.
“Hello. Carla?”
“Y/M/N! Hi! How are you?”
“Mom” Eren whines in a whisper, urging her to get to the point.
“Sorry to call, I just wanted to—”
A crash sounds through the phone, making both Jaeger’s jump.
“Y/N! What are you guys doing?” They hear your mom scream.
“Sorry, mom! I got scared and my bowl fell!”
Eren visibly relaxes in his place once your voice sounds through the phone. Carla eyes him with curiosity. He had his hand over his chest as if the relief of you not being in trouble was finally allowing him to breathe.
“Sorry, Carla. Y/N is watching some scary movie with Mikasa and Armin” she laughs “You know them, can never leave them unsupervised”
Eren straightens in his seat. Mikasa and Armin? You were with them?
He stopped listening to the conversation after that. Why weren’t you answering him? Since when did you text them before you texted him? Didn’t you know he’d worry? Even better, why didn’t you invite him? Didn’t you want him there?
That couldn’t be it. You never left his side. You were even more annoying than Mikasa when you were kids, always glued to his side. Although not as protective as the dark haired beauty, your presence was always clinging to his. That hadn’t changed throughout the years. You clung to him every step of the way. Always making sure to be at his side no matter what. Even when your grades were good enough to take higher classes, you stuck by him. Never going too fast, never going too slow; you always stood by him.
And he never pushed you away, not like he did with Mikasa. He never could.
He tries texting you again, thinking that maybe the texts hadn’t gone through. But he knows better. He just doesn’t want to know better.
When the weekend ends, Eren, for the first time ever, gets to school in time. Honestly, he just wanted to be there when you got there, not wanting to miss you by chance.
“Eren!” He hears Historia before she sees her “How was your weekend? I haven’t heard from you since the dance?”
“Huh?” Historia hugs him, but he’s too distracted scanning the hallway for you.
“Thank you so much” she smiles “I had a lot of fun. I was really sad Ymir couldn’t make it, but you help it be a fun night”
“Yeah. No problem”
Historia frowns confused, “You okay?”
“Have you seen Y/N?”
Historia tilts her head, “Yeah, she was by Calculus with Jea—woah! Where are you going?”
He’s out of her sight before she can even finish her sentence. All he could think about was seeing you.
He just didn’t expect to see you with Jean.
He stopped midway. His heart tightens as he sees you laugh happily because of something Jean just said. His fist clenches when he sees the way Jean is smiling at you.
He didn’t like the way Jean was looking at you.
The bell rings and he moves fast, scared to lose you from his sight, as you walk to your class. Imagine his surprise when he goes in to find you sitting with Jean. He frozed for a second. Was he still dreaming? You always sat with him. Always had. What was going on?
“Y/N?”
You look up from your notebook to see Eren looking like kicked puppy in front of you. He looked lost. Which was weird. Never had you ever seen that expression on his face.
Jean, who’s at you side, frowns in bewilderment. He didn’t remember the last time Eren had shown so much emotion.
“Eren” you whisper before smiling faintly “H-hi, I didn’t see you come in”
“What are you doing?”
“What do you mean?”
Your teacher comes in before he can open his mouth again and he soon is obligated to sit behind you with Marco.
His jaw clenches. He didn’t understand. Had he done something wrong? Why were you not sitting with him? Why even though you smiled at him did he feel you so distant? Why did it hurt him so much to see you smiling and whispering with Jean when he knows he is your friend?
He didn’t really pay attention to anything their teacher said, too lost in his own thoughts to even bother caring.
The bell rings and he jumps off his seat, but before he can catch you someone grabs his arm.
“Mikasa” he moves his arm but she doesn’t let him go “Mikasa, let go”
“Leave her alone, Eren”
He looks at her with no expression, though the girl for a second could see how his eyebrow twitched.
“I need to talk to her”
“Her world doesn’t revolve around you” she scoffs “So don’t act like it does”
“What do you mean?”
“Weren’t you just about to go ask her why she didn’t sit with you?” She raises a brow “She doesn’t have to be at your side 24/7”
He hates that she knows him so well. Hates even more that she is right. You don’t owe him anything, you can sit with whoever you want. So why did he felt the need for one?
He jerks his arm off Mikasa’s grip and scoffs. Maybe you just wanted to talk to Jean, things would go back to normal soon enough.
At lunch you didn’t say by him either, you sat in between Sasha and Mikasa. Laughing loudly while sharing your lunch with Braus. He naively waited for you to hand him the chocolate chip cookie you always made for him, yet this time you didn’t.
And it went on for two months.
He couldn’t handle it anymore. 62 days of agony waiting for you to turn to look at him first, just to never do it. 62 days of waiting hours before you text him back. 62 days of seeing you sit with everyone but him. 62 days of wondering if you’ll show up or not at his game. 62 days of being invited to movie nights at your house by Mikasa or Armin, never by you.
He couldn’t bare it anymore and it didn’t take long for his friends to notice. Emotionless and unbothered Eren Jaeger jumping out of his seat every single time you entered the room. Eren Jaeger who cannot stop clenching his fist and moving his leg when you haven’t made an appearance. Eren Jaeger who looks like a lost child every single time you don’t give him his attention.
They honestly grew tired of it.
“You need to talk to him”
You blink, confused, at Armin, “what?”
“It’s been two months, Y/N, and he looks like a kicked puppy. You need to talk to him”
“What am I supposed to say?”
“Just let him know you’re still friends. That you’re not mad at him” he sighs “Things don’t have to go back to how they were, but he deserves to know he did nothing wrong. He can’t stop pouting and, honestly, I feel kinda sorry for him”
You sigh. Armin is right, as always. It wasn’t fair for Eren, who is your best friend, to feel like he has done something wrong when he truly hasn’t. You needed to make things right. You needed to salvage your friendship with him.
That’s why you come to school the next day with a box of the homemade chocolate cupcakes he loves so much.
That’s why you stand in front of your school’s doors waiting for him to arrive.
Your heart clenches with how defeated he looks once he does. And when your eyes find one another, you can physically see the hope and relief that he feels.
“Y/N” he sighs.
“Eren” you smile “I, uh… I wanted to apologize. I know I’ve been a little distant lately and—”
“Why?” He begs “Why have you been distant?”
You open and close your mouth, your finger tightening around the box in your hands. You had to be honest. You had to voice what you had silenced for so long. That way you would be able to move on, that way he’d understand why you needed to keep him at arm’s length.
“I, uh, um… I sa-saw you and His-Historia at the dance” you clear your throat “It wasn’t your fault! I swear I’m not mad and I never was! It’s just—it just hurt… that’s why I needed space. I liked you and it hurt”
You sigh, and extend the box towards him before slightly bowing your head.
“I’m sorry!”
You stay with your head down for a few seconds. He doesn’t move nor answers and it makes you wonder if he is mad you didn’t just tell him sooner, if he thinks you’re immature for not talking to him before so he could understand.
You feel the box being taken from your hands and before you can react you feel him lower his body, making you stand straight. Yet his face still falls on your shoulder. You feel his body relax as soon as it comes in contact with yours, and you feel him breathe in relief once he can feel your lavender scent. You don’t move, you don’t know exactly what to do in that moment. Does this mean he understands? Does it mean he is not mad? Are you both okay?
“I missed you” he whispers “I missed you so much”
“I—I missed you too, Eren”
“Never do that again” he begs softly “Please. Never leave me again”
“I, uh—I won’t”
“It’s you, Y/N” he continues “It’s always been you”
Your heart beats loudly in your chest at the declaration, yet confusion follows.
“But Histo—?”
“Historia was just sad Ymir couldn’t make it to the dance” he explains softly “I went to help her forget about it for a while”
“Oh”
“It’s you, Y/N. Always has been, always will be” he continues “Promise not to give up on me? Please. I just—please, don’t leave me”
You find yourself wrapping your arms around him, and he hides his face on your neck with content and relief.
“I promise”
The next time your friends see you both, you’re no longer clinging to him. Instead, Eren has his arm around your shoulders, holding you close to him. And, for the first time in a long time, he is smiling. That boyish smile they had all missed.
Your mom had been right. It was just one heartbreak before your happily ever after. She just didn’t know it would be the same person who’d mend it.
You just had to have a little patience.
Okay but imagine

What a shame
What if after you joined the scouts in order to help Eren get through his Titan experiments with the special operations squad you start getting close to the captain whom you've been bickering with all along?
(A/N) I thought about this while listening to "what a shame" by leyla blue so enjoy,,,I'll probably do sum parts lol.So I'm 4'11 irl,I didn't do it so Levi would be taller.
swearing, kind of violence, insinuated smut, agegap

(F/N)'s POV
It's now been twenty four hours after the stupid trial they held for Eren and we are about to set off for the old scouts' quarters where Eren will be going under a number of experiments. Now don't get me wrong I love Eren but requesting me to join him with the special operations squad to help him get through it? Couldn't he have asked Mikasa or Armin instead?Well I know they chose me because I was the only one of age, still though at eighteen Mikasa is still stronger than me so I don't see a problem with her replacing me.Yesterday's still fresh in my mind, after the trial Commander Erwin and Captain Levi approached me while I was sitting with Sasha.
"Cadet (L/N) can you join us in my office?"I heard a voice behind me say,I turned around and I was shocked.Commander Erwin with Captain Levi were asking me to join them to Commander's office.Oh shit what did I do?
"Yes sir."I saluted and looked him in the eyes feeling intimidated,I didn't even look at Captain, hell he even scared me from what he did to Eren about an hour ago.He beat the shit out of him infront of everyone for god's sake!
I followed behind them through hallways taking a few turns to Commander's office.I was the last one to enter and I closed the door behind me bracing myself for what's to come.
"Please take a seat (F/N)."Said the commander and I awkwardly sat down in front of them. Then I took the courage to look at Captain only to find steely gray eyes looking back at me,however I kept looking at him while I felt my face getting hot.Now that I've taken a better look at him I don't understand why people don't find him attractive, his face is symmetrical with a straight nose and he has a killer jawline. His hair is pitch black and styled nicely and overall he has a good physique even though he is indeed short,he is taller than me by a few inches though.Of course I've heard the stories of humanity's strongest soldier and how incredible he is but to be honest after today I think that he's nothing more than an entitled ass.A very attractive entitled ass.
I turned my head around to face commander and before I could speak he started talking.
"Don't worry cadet you're not in trouble." I let out a breath I didn't know I held. "What we want from you,is kind of a command." he continued.
"Oh." I said and he probably noticed the glimmer of confusion in my (e/c) eyes.
"Well Eren Jaeger will be brought to the old quarters of the Survey Corps under the supervision of the special operations squad led by Captain Levi,"he motioned to the raven haired man who stood still with an expressionless face."And since Eren will be experimenting all the time I thought that it would be good for him to see familiar faces,so we handpicked you to join him."he finished and I was left speechless.
"Sir,I'm sure Eren would prefer for either cadet Ackerman or cadet Arlert to join him, they're all very close."I said and looked up to the intimidating commander.
"Nonesense the reason we picked you is because you're of age and on top of your class." he replied.
"It's actually cadet Ackerman who's on top,I come in second but okay.I will be joining Jaeger and the special operations squad if that's your command."I slumped down my shoulders.
He nodded and started filling me in on what I would be doing there for the rest of the month.
I sighed turning back to see Petra who was talking with Eld.Oluo was talking about something irrelevant with Eren while Gunther was just waiting for Captain's order for departure.I learned all their names yesterday at dinner since we'll spend quite some time together.Eld and Gunther were more quiet and laid back,Oluo was the one trying to imitate the captain so he talked a lot about past missions and himself.Petra was sweet and I could see she admired captain a lot.Maybe a bit too much but that wasn't for me to judge, she was a few years older than me so we clicked.
"Oi"we heard from the very front of our formation,"We're leaving, follow my lead."Captain Levi said with a stone cold face.
A couple of ''yes sir's" were thrown and we started our journey on our horses.By noon we could see the White castle nestled in between the green of the forest.I was chatting with Petra about her Father,he seemed very sweet like her, when captain spoke.
"So when we arrive we'll be cleaning the whole place, got it?" he said looking at me and Eren.
Both of us nodded frantically but I sighed internally.I never really liked cleaning,I found it boring but I always kept my body and clothing clean,I hated the feeling of filth on me it reminded me of the streets.
We continued galloping until we reached the gates of the castle,it was massive.Oh hell no we'd spend the whole day and night cleaning it,the place looked dirty and in no way shape or form fit for residence.
It was now starting to get dark, it's been a few hours since we arrived and we've been cleaning non-stop.Captain ordered me and Eren to clean the whole the left wing.Eren wouldn't stop talking and all I could do is mentally block him out of my head to keep going with the cleaning.A knock was heard from the door of the room we're now cleaning, a second later captain Levi opened the door and I had to compose myself so I wouldn't laugh. He wore a white bandana over his hair and a fucking mask. Both me and Eren saluted.
"Are you done here?"he asked eyeing the room.
"Not yet captain,we still have a room left but we'll get right to it."said Eren before I could speak,I was still trying to hold my laughter in.
"Eren go start the other room and leave (F/N) to finish this, you'll get it over with more quickly, she will join you when she's done."he ordered and Eren agreed, running off to the next room.
I picked up the rug I was working with on the window and started scrubbing, painfully aware of captain's steely eyes on me.
"I don't know why Erwin picked you to join us."a quiet voice said behind me.
"In all honesty captain neither do I."I said not loosing my temper or turning around,I was familiar with his rude remarks, having heard a lot of soldiers complain about it over the years.I didn't hear anything apart from the door behind me close, leaving me alone.
In what felt years later we were done and heading down to the kitchen to grab some food.I caught Petra by the stairs and we walked down to the kitchen meeting an already seated captain.Petra practically run to the table and I flinched at the noise her shoes made sliding on the rocky floor.
"Captain would you like me to make you some tea?"she asked while I sat two seats away from the head of the table.
"No thank you Petra,I am already aware that you know how to make tea.Cadet (L/N) will make some for all of us."he said looking at me and I returned his gaze slightly nodding.Standing up I made my way to the kettle that was already filled with water, placing it on the stove.A yellow light filled the room and I took the tray with the cups, placing it on the table infront of the captain. When I heard the water bubbling I walked over to the kettle, taking it off the stove and throwing three teabags in it,swirling it around and letting it steep.Minutes later I took the teabags out and held the kettle in my hands. Now back at the table I started with the captain, taking a cup off the tray and placing it near his hand.I could smell his hair from where I was standing, which by the way was kind of behind him and a bit on the left side while pouring tea in his cup.I looked down to him and found him starring sight back to me.
"Do you take it with sugar or milk sir?"I asked keeping the eye contact. He raised his eyebrows.
"No,thank you."I nodded and walked around the table pouring tea to every single one of the special operations squad,Eren and then myself.I could see from the corner of my eye captain holding his cup in a peculiar way, instead of holding it from the handle like a normal fucking person,he holded it from the rim,his palm over the opening.Pouring the last bit of tea to my cup as I sat down I looked at Eren who was talking with Eld,Eld was sitting both on my left and captain's while Oluo was sat at captain's right with Petra next to him on his right .Next to me was Gunter at my right and at the far end of the table was Eren.I drifted off looking down at my cup on the table,my hand wrapped around it when a noise was heard from the kitchen's entrance. It was section commander Hange Zoë.They were supposed to come in tomorrow but I guess they were too excited.
"I was examining two titans we caught alive in the city,I would love for you to help me with tommorrow's experiments.I came here to ask for you permission." they said to Eren.
"An experiment? What am I going to do exactl-" Hange cut him off before he could finish.
"What else except of the amazing thing you already do?"
"Well I can't give you the permission, you see someone else in charge for me."he replied and Hange turned to captain.
"Levi does Eren have to do something tommorrow?"they asked and Captain seemed displeased.
"He has to clean the garden."his reply was short.
"Fine then it's settled!Eren tommorrow we're going to collaborate!"they said taking his hand in theirs.Eren looked overwhelmed.
"Yes."he stuttered."But what kind of experiments to you do with titans?"he asked and their face lit up.
"Uhm,what exactly are this experiments?"he asked once again. Then Oluo spoke.
"Hey stop.Don't ask them this."he said and I looked back at Hange.
"Ah I knew it,your expression have away your desire for knowledge!"the captain suddenly sat up along with everyone else and I did the same.I waved Eren goodbye mouthing <<goodnight>>.I felt kinda bad leaving him there all alone with Hange but he asked for it.As I turned to the left where my assigned room was I was stopped from the captain.
"Since Eren will be accompanying Hange, you'll be cleaning the garden.Understood?"he motioned down infront of the window where an overgrown carden was.I sighed, tommorrow was my day off and I really didn't want to spend it this way.
"I'm sorry captain I'm afraid I can't, tommorrow's my day off."I said respectfully and his jaw clenched.
"I see Erwin hasn't informed you about this, that bastard always leaves the hard work to me."he whispered the last part, almost to himself."Cadet while you're with us here, you will not be having days off."he stated sternly. What?
"What?I never agreed to this."
"You don't need to,these are orders cadet."
"Then I don't want to follow orders."I am not loosing my long awaited day off for this shit.
"You see (F/N), you really don't have a choice so go to sleep and be up at dawn or there'll be consequences, besides it's almost curfew."he swiftly turned around and walked on the opposite direction.Great.
As if his orders were engraved in my mind I really did wake up at dawn.Groaning I dragged myself out of bed and in the bathroom,I doubt anyone will be awake at this time so I didn't bother to change off my nightclothes which consisted of a long white tank top,I noticed that the awaited morning cold had hardened my nipples, and a pair of loose fitting pants.I actually stole these from Reiner,he was about to throw them away anyway because of a rip on the left knee.I sewed it up and now it was my favourite piece of clothing I owned. The cold water run down my body and it waked me up instantly, grabbing the soap bar I scrubbed my hair thoroughly. It smelled like lavender.Finishing up cleansing my body,I run the cold water once a gain to rinse off.I reached for the towel and wrapped it around my body, with my left hand I clenched on the material in order to secure it on my body and on the other hand I had my nightclothes.Walkind down the corridor I shivered,I almost dropped my towel when a dark figure appeared infront of me whilst I made a turn.
"By the walls captain you scared the shit out of me!"I cursed forgetting the ultimately embarrassing situation I was in for a moment. But that moment didn't last long when I remebered my appearance.I felt captain's body tense up under the back of my hand.I was practically stuck on his front so I took a couple of steps back,my face now red from the embarrassment of my captain seeing me like this.I heard him clear his throat and he most probably regained his composure.
"Uh change, have breakfast and go start with the garden.I'll be joining you shortly after I make sure four-eyes doesn't kill Jaeger."he said and I nodded sprinting to my room.Unaware of the pair of bright brown eyes that just saw my entire encounter with captain.
Quickly I pulled on my chest wrappings, underpants and a white shirt with my military trousers.I didn't have to wear the harnesses today so I ditched them in the chair near my bed and I laced up my leather boots.I combed my wet hair with my fingers, they fell just bellow my shoulders in a middle part. The kitchen was empty but it looks like someone has already brewed some tea and there's porridge on the stove.I ate quickly, drinking my tea in a hurry and I left the kitchen. The garden was peaceful but also chaotic. It was so overgrown with weeds and it desperately needed organisation, the stone path was also cover in moss.I picked up the water/vinegar solution and a scrubber.I started working on the stone pavement, getting the moss off.
Some time later it was finally finished, the sun now brightly above my head.A few drops of sweat run down my forehead,my hand willing them off in an instant.
"Oi cadet! How is it going?"captain's voice said.
"So now you join me? It's been surely hours!"just breathe (F/N) don't let your anger take over you.He seemed to catch on my anger even though I tried my best to cover it.I felt a harsh grip on my chin, tilting it up where I met his cold eyes.I was still on my knees and his force hold didn't help.
"Why are you complaining cadet?I already told you I'd be joining you when it was possible."
"Couldn't you have joined me earlier,it surely wouldn't take you more than a few minutes to ensure Eren's safety."I spat at him.
"Now brat even if I didn't join you,you still would have to finish this garden. It's orders."he said releasing my chin from his grasp. My eyes shot daggers at him, only if he weren't my boss..."Anyways I'll help you finish so we can start training."he finished.Training?
"Training?Why?"I asked
"Because." he replied and began to pull on weeds from the garden. What an asshole.Having no other option I did too and almost an hour later we were done.
"Four-eyes must have finished now,I'll get the others, you though should wear your gear."
Truly in about a quarter of a clock we were standing all together for training.Apparently Eren didn't have any progress in transforming, now with a bangdaged hand.
"Warm up, we're doing hand to hand combat today.I'm pretty sure you know it isn't as important with titans but as a soldier you won't have to face only those.Hand to hand combat is something you should rely on when times get tough."said captain."Petra you're with Eren,Gunther you're with Oluo and (F/N) you're with me,I want to test your abilities."he finished,I suppose Eld was helping Hange with something.
Everyone got in a line, captain in front of me.I made sure to keep my ground while he was just there waiting for me to do something.I could hear everyone else grunting while they fought with eachother, yet me and Captain we're not rushing ourselves, circling around each other.
"Aren't you going to make a move on me captain?Afraid aren't we?"I said with a smirk and he scoffed.
"It's not my fucking skills that are being tested (F/N) so just start."he did have a point so with all my strength I went in with my right fist straight to his face,I already knew he'd avoid it so the moment he did I tripped him using my leg.He did however notice and he wasn't about to fall down,at least without me.His right hand grabbed my waist and I fell on top of him with a whelp. In my state of surprise he took both of my wrists, rolling over on my body pinning them over my head.I grunted, his smug face inches from my own,he really did have beautiful eyes.It looked as if I was defeated but I had another trick up my sleeve.Due to my years spent in the streets I had to learn how to adapt so I learnt how to slide over stuff, making me very flexible.Carefully, without him noticing I lifted my right foot from under him and brought it over his left side,me now rolling over him,in his now surprised state his grip on my hands loosened.I retrieved full control of my wrists so I yanked them off his palms completely.I grabbed each one of his hands and pinned them to his sides, now sitting on top of his waist.
"Shorty has lost finally!" a voice said,Hange.
"Tsk,you win cadet, now get off me."I did exactly as he said.He walked back into the castle after dismissing us.
"Oh my god (F/N)!Captain hasn't lost in hand to hand combat, like never!"Petra walked over to me.
"Really?"woah."Well there's a first for everyone,now let's go to eat I'm fucking starving."
After I showered and changed again, fucking Levi had to choose hand to hand combat the day I showered,I went to the kitchen to eat with the others, everyone was already in there eating.I joined in the conversation with Oluo about how wall Rose has little to no supplies left while eating. It wasn't so bad here after all...
Since Hange was joining us we had to add an other chair, with us moving around I ended up to the captain's left,a bit closer than I would have liked.I looked at Oluo across from me and flashed him small smile. After we finished I joined Hange to their laboratory, them explaining me what happened today,Eren and the others will experiment more in the evening. They asked me if I wanted to join them but I said no,I wanted to relax for the rest of the day, maybe read some more pages of my book.It was about a girl who was helplessly in love with someone she couldn't have,it was more of a diary to be honest. It tugged painfully on the strings of my heart for a reason.
"(F/N) I'm going to need your help in the library once four-eyes is gone."captain said opening the door of my room and I screeched.
"Captain what are you doing?I could have been bare!"who even does that?
"Nothing I haven't seen before now in about an hour I need you in the library, we're going to organise the books in alphabetical order and dust the shelves."I groaned but hid it with a cough.
"Yes captain."he nodded and left,as soon as he did I fell on my bed cursing at him.
It is now almost night,me and Levi have took out all the books off the selves. We are dusting the inside of the selves but I can't quite reach the top.Being 4'11 at eighteen isn't enjoyable, even the military's shorty is taller than you.
"What's wrong?"he asked,he must have saw me struggling to reach the top shelf on my tiptoes.
"It's nothing sir, it's just that I can't reach the top shelf don't worry though I'll just get on top of a chair."shrugging it off I started walking towards the end of the room where a stack of chairs was placed.
"Don't you dare step on a clean chair with your shoes.I'll just lift you."he said gabbing my waist with both hands and placing me on his right shoulder so easily,as if I weighted nothing.God how was he able to do it? Military training, the guy's probably shredded. No don't think about his body right now what the fuck.
"Uh alright, can you go to the left and as I clean move to the right?"I felt his head nod on the outside of my left thigh and I started moving. When I finished I felt the weight under me gone and in a matter of seconds I was on the ground with a big thud.
"What the fuck captain why'd you do that?"I said while getting up.
"Revenge for this morning."he walked off and towards the door.
"Asshole..."I said quietly to myself,or I thought so.
"What did you say?"fuck fuck fuck.
"Nothing sir."I replied my face getting red.
"Look cadet I don't know who you think you are but addressing your superiors like this is unacceptable."his words came off aggressively but his face stayed stone cold.
"Well I'm sorry but what am I supposed to say to someone who won't accept their defeat because they think they're so damn unbeatable?"I snapped and in seconds I was pinned to the wall next to the selves.
"This is the last time I'll go easy on you brat, I'm your captain and I demand respect."venom dripping from his words, his hands tugging hardly on my jaw.
"I only show respect when I know it'll be returned and with all honesty sir you've been quite an asshole to me today." I smirked and I felt a hand slap my cheek, not hard but enough to make me angry.
"What the fuck did you just say?"his eyes burning into mine.
"What the did you just do?"I bit back wiggling my way off his grasp, pushing him down with all my strength.I was on top of him now just like in training this morning.
He reached out to turn me around with his hands but I took them both and locked them behind my back.I knew I'd regret this later, but I was so damn mad.
"Cadet get off me right now and I'm willing to forget what happened today."he said scowling.
"There's no way in hell I'm doing that until you apologize for being an asshole."I replied smugly. He must've not liked that because next thing I knew I was under him,his nose grazing mine.I could feel his laboured breathing on my lips and a thought flashed in my mind.As soon as it did I pushed it away.
"Let me go!"my voice trembled from both fear and fury. His hand had clutched both my wrists in a tight grip, his other hand under my chin tilting it up so I wouldn't miss his eyes.I felt the steely gaze piercing through my (e/c) one.Without thinking I subconsciously looked down on his panting lips and returned my gaze back to his.His eyebrows slightly raised, his eyes now we're traveling down to my panting lips.I knew what was bound to happen any second right now.He slightly shifted, softening his grip on my wrists, his straight nose moved on top of mine,a ghost of a kiss lingered millimeters above my mouth.I closed my eyes waiting for him to lock our lips but that moment never came,on the contrary I heard a sound of steps nearing the door.Captain quickly rose to his feet, pulling me up with him.
"(F/N)! Captain!"Eren exclaimed. He seemed quite disappointed,I wondered if he failed again.
"Jaeger help (L/N) finish organising the books."he ordered and left the room.
Putting the books back in the shelves a realisation came upon me.He wanted to kiss me,and I was to kiss him back.
Dinner approached and everyone was in the kitchen eating except captain.
"Hey Petra do you know where captain is?"Gunther asked and she shrugged.
"He seemed angry so I don't know,he might not want to eat tonight."
"Why would he be angry though?"
"I don't know but (F/N) you were with him right?Did you guys fight?" Eren interrupted and I wanted to throw my spoon at him.We were great friends but he just doesn't know when to shut the fuck up.All eyes on me now.
"Well we did kind of have a disagreement." I said looking at my plate."It's okay I, I'll get him some tea and apologize."they all seemed content with my reply.
The tray wobbled in my hands,I reached his temporary office.Knocking twice I heard a voice behind the door say <<come in>> and so I did.
His gaze didn't falter when I stepped in,walking in a straight line after closing the door,I placed the tray on the desk before him.
"Sir,I would like to apologize for today's incident,I shouldn't have been disrespectful to you and I definitely do not want to be the reason you don't get to enjoy this evening with your comrades."I said and the bastard laughed. He laughed.I've never seen him laugh. That's when I noticed a bottle of dark liquid on the corner of the window behind him.
"Cut the bullshit (F/N) we both know you don't feel sorry for anything that happened today."he said, now I understand, his laugh was a mocking one.I mean he wasn't wrong,I only said that to avoid punishment. He sighed and motioned for me to get to the left side behind the desk so I did.Standing up from his seat, his palm cupped the side of my neck, bringing us closer. He didn't get to do anything else though because I took his face between my hands and pressed our lips together.I sighed into the kiss.He kissed me back, forcefully, teeth grazing my lips.Bevuase of my surprised state of teeth on my lips he took the opportunity to lift me up from my waist, sitting me on top of the desk and slipped his tongue in my mouth. He grunted when my hands left his face and went straight on his hair, running my fingertips over his undercut and tugging at the longer hair on top of it.Humming I slowly tore my lips from his, placing small kissed from his chin to his jaw where I traveled down to his neck, leaving opened mouthed kisses all around until I reached the collar of his shirt. My hands trembled while I unbuttoned the first three buttons off his shirt, moving the collar out of the way I attached my lips on the base of his neck, where it connected with his torso and sucked on the skin, slightly biting it.I was no strangers to lovebites. He sucked in a breathe.
"Fuuuuck." a throaty moan came out of him.I smiled to myself and continued with my work, leaving a few more marks to spots I knew his clothing would cover up.As I pulled away from his torso,I looked up at him.His eyes were full of lust, just like mine.I smiled devilishly at him, kissing him once again. We left the office discreetly and he led me to his room locking the door, pinning me against it.
"After all I don't think you mind discipline."Oh boy.
Streaks of blinding gold twinkled over my eyes the following morning. My face twisted, turning around I let my hand touch the bedding but instead it hooked over a hard surface. Then it hit me.Shit,shit,shit.Last night me...and captain...my eyes widened.Red faced me looked up,captain was sleeping with his hands under my waist.Moments of yesterday's interaction flew through my mind when I heard a groan leave his red lips. His hands tightened around my waist bringing me on top of him. That's when his eyes opened up and found my head in the crook of his neck. The muscles of his stomach tensed up.I rose up using the sheet to cover my chest.
"Uh goodmorning captain?"I said unsure of what to say.He grabbed my nape and forced me on his hard chest once more.
"Shut the fuck up."so he didn't want to talk about yesterday, okay he's saving me the embarrassment. His fingers combed through my hair and I hummed kissing the surface of his chest. He tilted my head up by my hair,I felt something harden against my thigh.Morning sex?Count me in.
When I was about to make a move someone knocked on captain's door.Panicking I pulled away and covered myself in the sheets leaving him naked.
"Captain it's almost nine in the morning, how come you haven't gotten up yet?"Petra.
"I have a headache Petra,I'll come down once the painkiller (L/N) gave me starts working."he replied.
"Oh,I'm sorry to hear that sir.I'll go and make you some tea."her steps became less and less loud until they were completely gone.
I covered him with the sheets and started putting on my clothes. After everything was on I turned to the captain.
"I better get going, see you later captain."I smiled and he nodded.Opening the door and making sure no one was around I returned to my room. Now what the fuck was all this?
Attack on Pranks: Chapter 1 (The First Task)
The First Task
“May I be the first to welcome you into the Scouting Regiment!” Erwin smiled, opening his arms to the new recruits, Eren included, in the dining hall after his speech.
They cheered, letting out loud whoops and whistles, before the Commander finally calmed them down.
“Now, I know quite a few of you have heard from the Senior Officers that we have some hazing rituals, and I am here to confirm that we do not.” The teenagers let out a sigh of relief. “But,” Erwin’s eyes glinted mysteriously, and they began to grow nervous once more.
“Me and Hanji,” he indicated the crazy scientist next to him. “Do have a test for you.”
He let his words sink in as they began to whisper anxiously.
“Eren what does that mean?” Armin squeaked.
“I don’t know! They never told me anything!”
“But you’ve been here the longest!” Mikasa said.
“Yeah but-”
“Now I know you’re all wondering what this ‘test’ is going to be. Well, let’s just say that this is supposed to test your ability to escape almost certain death….” The blond man interrupted a slight grin gracing his face. Hanji looked ecstatic behind him, making Eren all the more nervous. She quickly opened the door, peeked out, and the shut it, giving Erwin a thumbs up.
“Uh oh,” Reiner muttered as Bertholdt visibly gulped.
“And now, your first task as new recruits is…...”
They all leaned forward in anticipation.
“To continuously knock on Corporal Levi’s door at 4:30 A.M. By the way, his door is right next to mine, with his name on it. Whoever gets caught will not get saved. Good luck.”
Since they were still very new, few of them had actually met the short man in person. Eren and Armin however, blanched while Mikasa smirked.
“Oh that doesn’t sound too bad!” Connie said happily.
“Yeah I thought he was going to make us jump in a lake tied to bricks or run naked in the forest or something stupid!” Jean laughed.
“You fools!” Eren shouted, his green eyes blown wide and sweat streaming down his face. “You’ve never even met him! If only Commander Erwin gave us an easy task like that horse-face!”
“What’s the big deal Titan boy?” Ymir grumbled. “It could have been worse.”
“No it couldn’t! He’ll literally impale you with a mop or force-feed you cleaning fluid! You’ll all see for yourselves tonight!” Armin pulled Eren off the table.
“Commander Erwin’s still watching.” His friend whispered in his ear.
Erwin was doing his best not to burst out laughing while Hanji was rolling around on the ground, not even trying to hide her amusement. They have no idea what they’ve got into.
“So when should we meet up?” Sasha mumbled through a potato that she had snatched from the kitchen.
“How about at around 3:00 A.M. in the morning tonight, outside of the dining hall?” Marco asked.
Everybody agreed, and thus all the boys were dragged complaining out of their bunks. It was especially difficult to pull Eren and Armin out of bed, understandably after being kicked like 18 times in the face by the Captain, and watching it happen from the sidelines. Reiner and Jean had to pry Eren’s hands off the bedpost while Connie pulled his legs, though Armin was a bit weaker and more compliant, saving them a bit of trouble. Unfortunately, the moment they had pried the Titan-shifter off his bed he bolted for the door, but luckily tripped over Armin smashing his head into the floor and Reiner was able to tackle him to the ground.
The girls, on the other hand, didn’t seem to be having the same problem getting out of bed. They had never seen Mikasa so happy in their entire lives, it was almost creepy.
Quietly, all the new cadets tiptoed down the halls towards their meeting location. By the time they had all arrived, nearly an hour had passed.
“What the Hell took you guys so long?!” Ymir demanded angrily when the boys finally made it there.
Most of them just glared at Eren while he rubbed his head sheepishly.
“What? You’d be nervous too is Corporal Levi kicked you in the face like 500 times in front of a crowd!” He retorted.
“And now we can get revenge!” Mikasa said gleefully, a glint in her eye that pushed all the boys back a good five feet.
“Aside from that….” Christa tried to diverge the subject. “What’s the plan?”
“Well maybe we could go one by one and do it.” Bertholdt suggested.
“Will Commander Erwin actually be watching?”
“He said his room is right next to the Captain’s, so he will probably know whether or not we actually did it.”
“What’s the punishment for not doing it?” Eren asked.
“Are you scared Eren?” Jean taunted. “It’s just a little prank.”
If there was anything Eren hated, it was losing to that stupid horse. “Fine! I’ll do it!” He hissed.
“That’s the spirit! Now who’s going first and how are we going to do this?”
“Armin!” Someone shouted, and the blond-haired boy sighed.
“Why is it always me?”
“Because you’re smart that’s why! And least likely to screw this up! Now what should we do?”
“Okay fine. First we should find an order for who goes first and then determine hiding spots.”
“There’s plenty of rooms near his office, so it shouldn’t be a problem,” Mikasa added. “Let’s just see what happens.”
They watched the time ticking apprehensively until it was five minutes before the beginning of the operation. Jean had been elected to go first after a competitive game of rock-paper-scissors with Eren, to which he had obviously lost.
“Dammit why do I have to go first,” he grouched as he crept towards Levi’s closed door. Hopefully, he was asleep, but he never slept for more than three hours a night, which Jean didn’t know. Maybe that why he was a bit noisier than he should have been when approaching the door. The moment that he had gotten five feet away from the door Levi was instantly aware of somebody outside his room and pulled out his blades. It didn’t matter that he wasn’t asleep, it was just who had the balls to walk outside his room at 4:30 in the fucking morning.
Unbeknownst to them, Erwin and Hanji had their ears pressed up against the walls listening intently to the whole ordeal. Sucking up a breath and puffing out his chest, Jean looked at his friends hiding around the corner and then back at the door, finally raising a hand to knock. He rammed on the door like a madman for a couple of seconds and instantely sprinted off down the opposite hallway, which was just as well since Levi immediately slammed open the door and gave chase, still in his uniform and ODM gear. He looked even more terrifying as his black hair whipped across his face and his blades flashed like deadly shards of ice in the moonlight. If Titans could shit themselves, then they would probably all get severe diarrhea when they saw Lance Corporal Levi charging at them.
“Get back here you shitty brat!” He screeched as he moved at such a pace that a man of his stature should never be able to obtain. Levi nearly flew down the halls after the terrified cadet, who was shrieking so loud that a few of the sleepy and disoriented officers poked their heads out to complain.
“THEY MADE MEEEE!” They heard him shout as their footsteps began to fade. Then there was only silence.
“Hey do you thin-”
A high-pitched scream cut through the air. “PLEASE DON’T KILL ME! NONONONONONO….”
A loud crash and clanging were soon heard afterward followed by a loud thudding noise which could only be Jean.
“I’LL TEACH YOU FUCKING IDIOTS TO PLAY A PRANK ON ME AT 4:30 IN THE MORNING YOU BITCH-ASS LITTLE MOTHERFUCKERS-” They all shrank back in terror as they heard the small yet furious man rant like a banshee on crack.
Oh shit, Eren thought as the dread in his stomach crystalized into a hard ball of fear and suspense. I’m next.
Attack on Pranks: Chapter 2 (Keep Running)
They didn’t see Jean for the rest of the night. Presumably, he was probably cleaning the bathroom with a toothbrush, as Levi had the tendency to force new recruits to do if they even put a hair out of line. Eren shuddered as he remembered the awful memory of scrubbing the entire castle down with tiny sanitary wipes the size of his palm. His arms had been sore for over a month.
Speaking of which, he would probably get worse this time as he watched the furious midget storm back into his room, slamming the door so hard it was a wonder it wasn’t torn off its hinges. After waiting for about five minutes, the other cadets began to get restless.
“Come on Eren! It’s been five minutes!” Connie grumbled, giving him a little shove towards the Captain’s closed door. Light seeped through the crack, and it was at that moment Eren knew he was fucked.
“Guys-” The brown-haired boy gulped.
“Just get it over with,” Reiner urged, and Ymir shooed him away with a hand.
He was sweating like a faucet as he turned towards the doorway, which at that moment looked much more like the gates of Hell than anything else. Oh fuck he’s going to beat me up and ground me into horse feed………I’d rather get eaten by a Titan!
Sluggishly, he took one slow step at a time, drawing inevitably closer to his doom. His feet felt like cement as he stood gazing at the name plaque on the door, vivid images of brooms, rags, and dusters flashing across his mind. Eren stood there for what felt like an hour but was actually only a couple minutes, petrified with fear. Someone groaned from behind the corner, and a shoe hit him in the back of the head, thumping onto the floor. The sound echoed eerily down the silent hallway, and suddenly the pacing behind the closed door stopped.
The teenage boy could feel all the courage and testosterone inside his body shrivel up and die, much like he was about to. Goodbye cruel world.
The doorknob turned agonizingly slow, and the creaked open to show only a single, murderous, grey eye staring deep into his soul. It felt like Levi was prying open his brain to see all the embarrassing memories he had ever experienced in his entire life, like that one time when he was eight and his pants got caught on a tree branch as he was jumping down, ripping it and forcing him to sprint back home butt-naked for all the world to see. Or that other time he tripped and fell into the swamp, where he pissed himself while waiting for someone to find him. It wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume that the short-tempered soldier fed off of the fear and tears of naughty children.
Despite the very visible height difference, it felt as though he towered over the terrified boy. Maybe Levi was being raised up by the sheer force of his anger and bitterness. They stared at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time, and Eren nearly passed out right there and then. The rest of his friends watched in silence as they waited for the explosion sure to follow soon afterward. Meanwhile, the Commander and the Scientist were still eavesdropping on the situation outside.
Finally, Levi broke his gaze. “You have three seconds,” the Captain whispered sinisterly, so softly that Eren could barely hear it.
He didn’t waste a single second, running so fast that he was nothing but a brown blur. Eren let out a very unmanly shriek along the way, much like Jean.
“3….2…..1.”
And Levi shot off like a rocket after him, hot on his trail, swearing up a storm just like before. It was enough to make even a sailor blush.
“Damn, I didn’t know Eren could run like that,” Connie guffawed once they were out of earshot.
Sasha was rolling around on the floor, for once her food forgotten. “I can’t breathe!”
“Oh my God!”
“That was great!”
Like everyone within a one-mile radius, both Erwin and Hange had both heard whom they assumed to be Eren and were busy having near aneurysms as they tried to hold down their laughter.
Eren however, was not having such a great time. He swerved down the halls, completely randomly, as he could hear Levi’s footsteps rapidly approaching. How the fuck was he so fast? He doesn’t even need a horse at this rate!
“Captain Levi I swear I wasn’t going to do anything! I was just passing by!” Eren lied futilely, as he continued to weave around the castle.
“Like Hell you were bitch! I could hear your little friends from miles away! Don’t give me that bullshit!” Levi made a swipe at Eren’s back, missing him only by a couple inches. Eren let out another terrified screech, which sounded more like a dying cat than a human.
The doors of the dining hall were thrown wide open, and the two charged in. Eren leaped over the tables the best he could, heading for the double windows at the end of the hall. Like Levi, he was wearing his ODM gear. A sudden chair crashed against the table, narrowly missing his legs and to his horror, he realized that the lithe man was tossing furniture at him. Somehow, he was able to make it across the entire massive room without being hit by anything that his superior hurled at him, which only enhanced Levi’s frustration. When I get my hands on that fucking dumbass……
Oh, he could already imagine all the horrors that were in store for Eren. He chuckled evilly to himself, the sound not lost on Eren. He was so fucked.
The teenager threw the windows open, not even pausing before flopping like a fish out into the air and randomly shooting out his hooks, hoping that it would catch onto something. Thankfully, there were trees nearby but even death would have been preferable to being caught by the alternate-universe Napoleon. A whoosh of air behind him followed by lots of swearing alerted him to the Captain’s proximity, which was horribly close. He turned back to look, his brown hair blowing back into his face. In that moment Eren felt himself collide into something solid with a loud splat, jarring him so hard that he was unable to do anything except free fall backward, as graceful as a wet shit a bird just took in midflight.
“FUCK!” Levi swore loudly as he swerved sharply to dive for Eren, managing to catch him just before he hit the ground, where they ended up tumbling together in a heap of limbs. Levi made sure to let the boy take most of the fall since he would heal in no time flat either way. Good, because he would need it after Levi was done with him.
“Wake up you little bitch,” Levi shook him roughly, but the only reaction Eren gave was mumbling something that sounded suspiciously like “Titans”. Of course.
Rolling his eyes, Levi yelled into his ear. “Jaeger! Incoming Titans!”
It was as if he had been released from a spell, immediately shooting up and drawing his blades, nearing hitting himself in the face with them overenthusiastically. “WHERE?! I’LL KILL THEM ALL!” He looked around frantically like a madman and Levi took a step back to avoid his swinging blades.
“Calm the fuck down brat! There’s no Titans!”
“What? No Titans?” Eren looked around puzzled. “But-”
“You’re going to wish there were by the time I’m through with you, you piece of shit.”
The cadets from the 104th could later hear the sound of furious scrubbing coming from the bathroom for the rest of the night and continued to hear them for the rest of three months, every night at exactly 4:30 in the morning.
Though most of them were preoccupied with the rest of their chores.
Connie’s turn came directly after Eren’s, whose confidence seemed completely disappear after hearing his friend’s hollering. They had witnessed the whole thing through the window and had watched as the clean freak dragged a kicking Eren back into the castle by the hair muttering a colorful array of words that would earn any regular person a mouth full of soap, but if one even attempted to shove a piece of soap in Levi’s mouth they would find it up their ass the next morning accompanied by bad constipation and anal pain.
After nearly half an hour, he finally returned to his room, ready to claim his next victim. Connie wasn’t even able to make it down the hall, where he stumbled on air and collapsed onto his face begging for mercy. To give him credit, Erwin had never met anyone who had the balls to outright tell Levi that he was “a handsome and kind guy that is basically the God of the human race” to try and get out of a punishment. Stable duty for two months.
Marco had gone up and knocked politely, not even bothering to run away. After seeing how fast Levi could run, he had just accepted his inevitable death. He was just too paralyzed by fear and stood there staring off into space a foot above Levi’s head, which he didn’t appreciate, judging by the hard kick in the shins he received, along with a month of cleaning all the dishes after dinner every night.
Bertholdt was able to make it a bit farther than Connie did, stopped by one of the older scouts accidentally opening the door hard right in front of his face, knocking him out cold. Olou, who had been brought out by the commotion, immediately disappeared back into his room when he saw Levi approaching, a look of murder painted across his face. Fortunately for the unconscious recruit, he was unable to see it, but would probably suffer a horrible headache for a couple of days.
Next came Reiner, who made it nearly as far as Eren did except for choosing the wrong hall and being cornered by a dead end. He did try to escape by jumping over the short corporal, who was tempted to jab him in the groin but fortunately didn’t, and almost made it if Levi hadn’t tripped him at the last moment. No one had ever heard him scream that loud. Hell, no one had ever heard him even scream before, as he always seemed so serious. For his stunt, he received a month of doing all of Survey Corps’ laundry.
Armin was last of the boys. Tiptoeing to the door, he raised a shaking hand to knock, swaying dangerously on his feet. What’s wrong with me? I’ve seen people get devoured by Titans! A sudden image of Levi soaring through the air and effortlessly slashing open two Titans at once flashed through his head, and that’s when he realized why Captain Levi was still alive. Because he’s scarier than Titans. Mustering every ounce of courage that his tiny body possessed, he gave one meek knock and shot off, not even turning to see whether or not Levi was giving chase. Apparently, he was getting sick of chasing after teenagers, because he had a heavy book in hand and was waiting for the next person to knock on his door so he could chuck it at them. And he did. Albeit a little bit to eagerly, hitting Armin so hard in the head that he landed on his face, blood gushing out of his nose upon contact with the floor. Luckily for Armin, it wasn’t broken, and he was able to only get three weeks of window scrubbing in exchange for a bloody nose.
After the boys had all gone and some were off doing their chores, it was the girls’ turns.
And no one was more eager than Mikasa.
Attack on Pranks: Chapter 3 (How it All Started)
It was now 6:00 in the morning and the sun had barely begun to rise over the horizon, tinting the sky a gentle orange.
“Hey guys, do I really have to do this?” Sasha whimpered, as the other girls pushed her forward. “I’m not the fastest runner.”
“Yeah you do Potato Girl,” Ymir replied. “Haven’t you seen Commander Erwin watching?”
He and Hange had occasionally been peeking their heads out the door, checking up on them after every runner.
“Hurry up so I can have my turn!” Mikasa urged.
“What? Then why don’t you go first?” Sasha grumbled. “You’re the fastest out of all of us! You could probably tire each other out and make it easier for us!”
“We already agreed that no one wants to wait for Mikasa to mess with the Captain because that would take too long. Besides, it’s much more entertaining this way.”
“Can we please just get this over with?” Christa begged.
“Okay okay.” Sasha finally conceded and crept towards the door. The rest of the girls all held their breath, waiting for the beast to emerge out of its lair. She knocked three times before flying down the hall, Levi barging out the room after her.
“YOU BRATS ARE DEAD!” He bellowed, using his grappling hooks to propel himself forward. He made a wild grab for her shirt, but Sasha was able to slip through his fingers by a couple of millimeters and turned a corner where they couldn’t see anymore.
“She’s most likely heading for the kitchen,” Ymir grinned.
And she did, swiping a soft loaf bread on the way in and hiding in the pantry. Levi rolled his eyes as he arrived, knowing that the girl would be hiding in one of the pantries or cupboards. He had heard the story of her first day with Shadis from Erwin and had noticed her inhaling any piece of food she could reach during the Opening Feast.
Sasha could hear him approaching closer and closer but was too preoccupied with all the delicious food reserved specifically reserved for the officers to care.
“Stupid recruit,” Levi muttered. He could hear her eating sloppily a couple feet away and he stormed over, yanking open the door a bit too violently, tearing it off the door frame.
“Goddammit!”
A shriek immediately blasted the Corporal’s eardrums and grabbed her by the collar, roughly tossing her out.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” He shouted over her screaming, which didn’t cease to deafen him.
His eye twitched dangerously. “Shut up!” He grabbed the food out of her hand and she finally stopped, and then had the audacity to try and wrestle it back. His gray eyes widened when Sasha tugged back at the surprisingly tough piece of bread, which crumbled and tore in their hands. She was flung back while Levi stood there in shock.
He quickly shook himself out of his stupor and advanced on the now terrified girl, who began trying to bribe him with food that she didn’t even have.
“I’ll give you half of everything on my plate tomorrow!”
“You little shits have some balls!” Levi dragged her back kicking and howling by the hair, where she subsequently received a month without dinner.
Letting out a loud huff the short man stomped back into his room, close to where the other girls were waiting for their turns. He plopped down in his chair and rubbed his temples, mentally counting off all the cadets that he had already caught. Originally, he had thought it was just the boys who had collaborated to keep him up all night, but with the arrival of Sasha, he wasn’t so sure anymore. Now, Levi was pretty sure it had something to do with Hange and Erwin, the latter who most people wrongly suspected to be calm and boring. Once, all his cravats had all disappeared, and he had thought Hange was the culprit, except she had been out the entire day with Moblit observing Titans. His cravats were later returned to his dresser dyed a light salmon pink, and Levi had been absolutely livid, interrogating everyone in the castle and scaring all his comrades back to a one hundred feet radius. In the end, he never found out who did it, but had a nagging suspicion that it was the Commander, who was the only who had a key to his room and also the only one he couldn’t impulsively strangle and toss of the roof in a body bag.
He was pulled out of that horrible memory by another knock on the door, and this time it was Christa. She let out a light squeal when she saw him and took off down the hall, Levi following closely behind. Another pair of footsteps joined the chase and he looked back to see a tall, girl with freckles chasing heatedly after them.
“Christa!” Ymir shouted. “Don’t you dare touch her!”
“Ymir!”
Oh right, Levi scoffed. As he recalled, Ymir or whatever her name was, clung onto Christa like a burr the entire time during the feast and warded off any boys who dared come within five feet of the blonde.
“Go back Ymir! It’s not your turn yet!” Christa tried to shoo her back, still running.
The Corporal stopped cold in his tracks at those words, and Ymir couldn’t stop in time, ramming into his back and bowling him over.
“Oh no Ymir!” Christa turned back to catch her taller friend as Levi violently flung her away from him.
“What is this about a turn?” Levi snarled, and from behind the wall Erwin and Hange began to fidget nervously. Oh balls if he finds out he’ll probably slit our throats in our sleep and then burn our corpses and feed the ashes to the Titans! They looked at each other anxiously.
Erwin was pretty certain that he was the main suspect on Levi’s list of people who dyed his cravats pink, since the cleaning obsessed Captain glared daggers at him for the rest of the month whenever they happened to meet in the halls. Also, not even a week after the prank on humanity’s strongest, Levi had passive aggressively spilled ink all over the Commander’s shirt, staining it black. And no matter how hard he tried, Erwin just couldn’t seem to get it out, making him almost certain that Levi had made it himself for that sole purpose as the ink he always ordered was washable. Then, his subordinate had put blue powder in the showerhead so that when Erwin turned on the water it came out a dark blue that stayed in his eyebrows and hair for about four days. Levi had actually laughed when he heard Erwin’s surprised yelps from inside the bathroom as he listened in, and to top it all off he was so startled that he had run out completely naked smacking right into Gunther who was passing by, ending up on top of him. As if the embarrassment of falling onto his comrade as nude as the day he was born wasn’t enough, Eld was there to witness the whole thing.
All three of them refused to make eye contact for a week, and Levi wasn’t even mad about the blue water the Commander trailed all over the place when he had stumbled out of the shower.
And since Erwin didn’t have any official evidence on whether or not Levi was the real culprit, the blond man could only seethe silently at the smug look on the Corporal’s face every time they sat together. So, consider this payback.
And the mad scientist next to Erwin wasn’t on Levi’s good side either. Two days ago, she had carelessly tracked mud and rain all over the entire freshly mopped castle and then later accidentally poured a kettle of his favorite tea all over his head when she tripped on her own boot. (And then cracked a joke about his height as she sprinted away to try and diffuse the tension, which obviously didn’t work very well.)
“Should we bar the door?” Hange whispered.
“No, if we do that then we might as well tape a sign on our foreheads that say, ‘We put the recruits up to it.’ Just keep watching for now,” Erwin exhaled.
Outside, Levi continued to try and pry information out of the two girls, who seemed to have now clamped their mouths shut. After about twenty minutes of threats and cursing with no advancement whatsoever, they were sent back to their barracks with two months of bathroom duty while Levi trudged back to his room.
If he remembered correctly, there was still one more recruit left…
Attack on Pranks: Chapter 4 (Showdown)
Mikasa waited impatiently for Christa and Ymir to finally leave and for Levi to return. Now, she could finally get her revenge for that day in court. She clenched her fists as the famous Titan-killer closed his door, before confidently stalking up to it and pounding a fist against it.
Unlike the others, she refused to cower in the face of a death more gruesome than anything the Titans could come up with. The black-haired girl tensed in anticipation, but there was no movement behind the door. Frowning, she tried again, with the same result. You’re kidding me! He can’t have gotten tired already!
Or if he’s purposefully ignoring me……she growled aggressively, a sound not lost on Levi.
The Captain knew who was last and was tempted to ignore her completely. I don’t have time for her petty bullshit.
Levi had seen the way she had looked at him during the court session and had no doubts that it would have gotten ugly if the small blond boy hadn’t stopped her. But from the way the door was creaking on its hinges, Mikasa would probably break the door into a thousand pieces if he didn’t open it.
“Ugh!” He groaned as he got up and grasped the door handle, preparing for the worst. The knocking had finally stopped, and it was all quiet. Slowly, he turned the doorknob, his other hand gripping his sword handle tightly. You never know what those crazy cadets would do, especially after all those interesting stunts they pulled in the last few hours. He had barely opened it a centimeter before it was blown wide open, smashing into the wall. The screws popped off and clattered to the floor. Unfortunately, at least to Mikasa, Levi had managed to dodge it and was about to throw one of his blades at her but she was gone, flying down the hall.
What the Hell?
The Captain frowned in confusion as she sprinted gracefully away; he had honestly thought she was going to come into the room and attack him. He shook his head and chased after her, weaving through the hallways until he followed her through the door to the entrance of the castle, where she stood waiting on the other side in the middle of the courtyard.
Hearing the commotion, Erwin and Hange followed the noise to the window, where they could see Levi and Mikasa trying to glare the other down.
“Hey look!” Connie called out to Bertholdt, being the first to notice. “Go get the others! They won’t want to miss this!” Bertholdt nodded and ran off to gather the others, where they watched through a window on the second floor, not too far from where Erwin and Hange were. They stuck their heads out and climbed over each other to try to get a better look from the one window, forming a massive pile of bodies. Reiner, thankfully for everyone else, was stacked on the bottom, next to Bertholdt who had begun to sweat like a faucet. Then Jean and Eren were squished next to each other, nearly standing on top of the two on the bottom, trying to shove the other out of the way for a better view. On top, Connie and Armin were struggling to not fall as the boys on the bottom staggered because of Jean and Eren’s bickering.
“Hey move over horse face ” Eren growled, shoving him into the wooden frame.
“No! Why don’t you asshole?” He accidentally squished Reiner’s face into the window sill, while Armin squeaked as Eren began to wriggle around.
“Can we not do this right now?” Connie yelped as he nearly fell off, clinging onto the curtain, which began to rip.
“Ugh you’re such a bitch!”
“Big talk coming from you Jeanie boy!”
“Come on guys!” Bertholdt whimpered as Jean’s foot struck him in the head.
All the ruckus drew the attention of the girls, who were trying to sleep in their own rooms.
“Are you kidding me?” Ymir grumbled angrily as their shouts echoed down the hall. “What the Hell are they even doing at this time of the night?”
“Maybe we should go investigate,” Christa suggested.
“Fine by me if it’ll make them shut up.” Ymir sighed.
“Where’s Mikasa?” Sasha asked, emerging from her own bed.
“Who knows? Probably going at Corporal Shorty or something.”
They followed the boys’ voices down the hall, where they found a scene of complete chaos. Eren was hanging out the window by his fingertips, kicking against the castle and screaming bloody murder while Reiner and Armin tried to fish him back in. Bertholdt was laying on the ground with a large bruise on his face, spread-out like a giant rug while Connie and Jean, the latter whose shirt was half ripped, were arguing in the corner. Most of them were only half dressed or in their underwear. The girls gawked at the spectacle in front of them, but the males didn’t even seem to notice.
“Armin pull!” Reiner urged, half his body hanging out the window giving the girls a full view of his ass. Well that’s something I never want to see again, Ymir mentally groaned.
“I’m trying!” Armin squealed back, nearly joining his friend dangling from the window. The poor boy was trying his hardest, leaning on the tips of his toes and sweating so much that he rivaled Bertholdt, who was still clutching his face on the ground. But there was only so much you could do when your arms were as thick of strands of spaghetti.
“Don’t step on me!” Connie’s foot landed right where the gentle giant’s head was, but luckily, Bertholdt was able to dodge in time. “Watch out!”
“Sorry big guy but some horse-faced asshole is trying to kill me!” Connie glared out Jean.
“Big talk coming from you cue ball!” He retorted, taking another wild swing.
“Don’t you dare drop me!” They heard the Titan-shifter’s scream coming from by the window.
“You know what let’s just go back to sleep,” Ymir whispered. “They’re all insane.”
“Agreed.”
They tiptoed back into their rooms, oblivious to the storm that was about to blow.
“What do you want?” Levi asked, his eyes narrowed as they circled each other like sharks. He already knew the answer.
“Revenge for that day in court,” Mikasa snarled. “You should remember.”
He scoffed, only angering Mikasa further. “You’re too attached to that idiot for your own good, it’s really a shame.”
Hange and Erwin watched in trepidation as two of the strongest members of the Scouting Regiment were about to pounce on each other.
“This is gonna be amazing!” Hange squealed, while Erwin watched silently, though he too was anxious to see what would happen.
Mikasa lunged with a fist at Levi, who twisted out of the way to grab her arm. They had no doubts in their minds that the force behind Mikasa’s punch would have been enough to knock out a wild raging tiger. Levi let go and she retaliated by swiping at his head, missing by an inch. He ducked and threw her over his shoulder by the arm, flinging her a good twenty feet away from him but Mikasa twirled midair and landed on her feet.
“That’s it!” She roared, going berserk and charging at him. Levi met her halfway, where they clenched hands and began pushing each other, trying to make the other one back down first.
“I’m not losing to you!” She snarled, veins popping out her forehead. Any normal person’s bones would have been instantly crushed by the force between their hands, but neither of them was normal by any standards.
“Oh, is that so?’ Levi mocked coolly. Faster than a blink of the eye, he swept her legs out from under her and forced her down onto the ground. “You become reckless when you’re angry. And besides,” he narrowed his calm gray eyes. “You might be strong, but I’m still Humanity’s Strongest.”
No matter how she thrashed, Mikasa couldn’t break free of his iron grip.
Levi raised a fist high above her head, and she struggled harder than ever, her heels gouging deep scars into the ground.
“Go. To. Hell!” Mikasa groundout. The Commander and Hange held their unconsciously held their breaths in anticipation, and the air seemed to still as they waited for the finishing blow.
“HELP!!” A screech suddenly pierced the air like a bullet, distracting them from their fight. Both Ackermans snapped their heads around to find Eren’s hand gradually slipping out of Reiner’s as the blond boy tried desperately to hold the weight of both Eren and Armin, who had also tipped out the window. Bertholdt was desperately reaching out for his other hand, but both Levi and Mikasa could tell that he wouldn’t make it in time.
They separated, and both began sprinting towards the window, blades of grass flying through the air underneath their boots.
“Hold on Eren!” Mikasa shouted.
“Damn shitheads!” Levi cursed, only a couple meters away.
Eren’s hand slipped, and then everyone was screaming. Hange from a couple rooms over, leaning so far out the window that Erwin had to pull her back so that she didn’t join them, and Bertholdt, Reiner, Armin, Eren, Jean, and Connie creating a harmony of horrible teenage shrieking. Least to say, no one in the castle was asleep anymore.
Mikasa tumbled to the ground with Eren in her arms, though it took a couple seconds longer for him to stop yelling like had seen a titan taking a shit on his house.
Levi caught Armin a little more gracefully, immediately dropping him like a sack of potatoes and leaving the terrified boy to crawl away uttering a small thanks.
“Ugh!” Levi huffed, shoving a finger in his ear. “They should really push up the recruitment age up a couple years, so I don’t have to deal with your horrible pubescent voices.”
After the three were reunited in a huddle on the ground, Levi turned on them, a dangerous glint smoldering in his eyes. Eren swore he saw the tortured ghosts of the other countless recruits that the Captain had probably forced to scrub the floors until they died, burning in a Hell full of fiery brooms and boiling laundry detergent.
“Now,” Levi said slowly, and Armin could feel his soul withering up and dying inside of him. On the second floor, all the boys shrunk back out of sight. “What shall your punishment be?”
For the next couple of days, all the girls excluding Mikasa could hear was the sound of furious scrubbing throughout the halls, day in day out. And the occasional sob and cuss word that they whispered when they thought no one was looking.
Not too surprisingly, Levi figured out who was responsible for unleashing a bunch of slobbering teenagers upon him at 4:00 in the morning, and least to say, he got his revenge. Erwin now had no eyebrows and all of Hange’s equipment had mysteriously disappeared, sending both of them into hysterics.
“Uh are those draw on eyebrows?” Sasha whispered to her friends in the dining hall two days after the incident.
“Yes,” Levi replied coyly as he waltzed by, a small smirk on his face.
Life was always interesting in the Survey Corps.
Attack on Titan Short Story Collection: Fireworks
"Alright you brats!" Captain Levi shouted over all the commotion of the gathered recruits. "We'll be trying some different training today." A dangerous smirk crossed his features, and Erwin stalked up behind him, holding a large bag. All the teenagers gulped when they saw the expression on the short man's face.
Soldiers who were lucky enough to not be dragged into this special training snickered to each other from behind the windows of the surrounding buildings, and it seemed as if everyone except the people involved, namely Eren and the others from the 104th Cadet Core, seemed to know what was going on.
"Hey guys," Jean whispered uneasily. "Why does the Captain look so happy?"
"I don't know, but it's creeping me out," Connie responded, shivering in anticipation. The last time Captain Levi had smiled was when there had been a sale on cleaning supplies in town two months ago, and he hadn't smiled since.
It wasn't exactly a smile to say, it was more of a look that would anyone know that they were completely and utterly screwed.
"Ymir, I'm scared," Christa cried, latching onto her friend.
The brunette seemed mostly unfazed, though she did look somewhat uneasy. "What I'm more concerned with is why Commander Erwin told us to wear our shabbiest casual clothing that we wouldn't mind discarding. I thought we were training."
"What's that short stack planning?" Mikasa growled, narrowing her dark eyes at him.
The new recruits were gathered in the courtyard in front of the castle, apparently preparing for some sort of new exercise. Under the intense stares of their superiors, they huddled together like a bunch of terrified lambs.
Suddenly, the doors burst forth and the eccentric scientist leaped out, waving around a lighter and drawing out a wave of murmurs from the spectators.
"They're dead meat," Eld commented, the rest of Levi Squad nodding in the background.
"Levi!" She pranced over to the Captain and Commander, who dipped their heads together and shielded whatever they had in their hands from view. The occasional giggle from Hange could be heard, and the teenagers could only wait anxiously for a few minutes before they ended their conversation.
"So," Levi said, turning around to face them. "I've noticed that the majority of you idiots don't know how to dodge properly during training." He looked pointedly to Eren, who yesterday had gotten sent to the infirmary from getting smacked by a fake Titan cutout when they were practicing in the forest.
Swallowing down his fear, the Titan-shifter struggled not to look away as he was pierced by steely gray eyes. He could feel them boring a hole into his soul, causing sweat to drip down face almost enough to rival Bertholdt.
"Thanks, loser." Jean muttered, shooting a glare at the brown-haired boy, who turned to glower back.
"That's why," Levi continued, snapping the two teenagers from their staring match, "We've come up with an alternate exercise to test your abilities."
Turning to look behind him, Eren could see Mike and Moblit each holding the ends of a long rope, walking away from each other and pulling it taunt once they had reached the side of two buildings. Now the recruits were trapped inside the rope-boundary and between the buildings, along with a very intimidating Captain who seemed to eat up their fear.
Erwin dug his hand into the large brown bag he was cradling, slowly drawing out a long, thin cylinder object with a stick protruding from one end.
Is that really what I think it is? Reiner stared in disbelief, and Bertholdt visibly began sweating. Even Sasha had stopped eating a piece of bread she snuck out to stare at the object in the Commander's hand, a visible look of confusion and realization flashing across her face.
At that moment, everyone had a vague suspicion about what was about to go down, but they all prayed to the walls that it wasn't going to happen. Unfortunately, they had no such luck.
"There was a sale on fireworks!" Hange declared gleefully, her eyes gleaming crazily. "So we decided that we should change things up a bit! Make life more interesting, ya know?"
"Since normally you have no incentive to do well during training, how about this? There are five hundred of these fireworks, and I'm not gonna stop until every last one has been used. And by the way, these things hurt like Hell so I don't recommend being hit." Levi warned. "And don't cross the line, or you'll have me to deal with."
Whimpers of fear emitted from them, the other Scouts watching in pity and amusement.
"We're so dead," Eren moaned, giving up all hope of survival.
"And another thing," Levi continued, tossing one of the fireworks up and catching it, the teenagers flinching at the audible smack it made as it met his palm. "I never miss."
"Begin!" Erwin yelled, handing a bundle of twenty-five to Hange, who quickly lit them and passed to Levi. Shrieking, the soldiers all scattered, Jean and Connie sprinting to a tree where they were promptly forced away by senior squad leaders positioned behind the trunk.
"Stay out in the open!"
Finding no other shelter, Christa and Ymir darted behind Reiner and Bertholdt, the largest of all the recruits and who had collective looks of terror on their faces.
"Hey I'm not a meat shield Ymir!" Reiner protested.
"I don't care just protect my Christa with that fat body of yours!" She screamed back, covering the smaller, blonde girl with her arms.
"Fine! And I'm not fat!"
"Is this really the time Reiner?!" Bertholdt wailed as a yellow rocket narrowly whizzed by his face, which he barely managed to avoid.
"I don't think clumping together is gonna help!" Someone hollered from the windows, drawing Levi's attention towards them.
"Oh shit! Scatter!" Reiner howled as seven fireworks were aimed at them. He dove to the side just in time as they flew by where his head had previously been. But it just so happened that Jean was running past behind them, and one of the fireworks rammed into his crotch, where he collapsed screeching in pain.
"Oh God why?!"
Levi focused his attention on another group, the three from Shiganshia. Armin was standing next to Eren and Mikasa, who were in a heated debate about something. Armin, seeing the packet of fireworks being pointed towards them, tugged desperately at Eren sleeve, only to be ignored.
"Eren!" He shook his shoulders desperately, finally getting pulling him away from his argument.
"What?!" Eren whirled around just as two blazing red rockets propelled into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him and searing a hole in his clothes.
"Eren!" Mikasa screamed, dodging a blue one that flew past her face.
Another one hit Armin in the chest, and he too was blown off his feet.
"What is this cynical Hell?!" Connie squealed as a green firework sped past his nose. He wasn't so lucky with the next one though, as it hit him straight in the backside as he was turning around.
"AAAHHHHH!" He hit the ground hard, rolling around in the grass to smother the dying embers.
"Don't touch my bread!" Sasha squawked, jumping over a firework and accidentally shoving two other recruits to the ground. "Oh shoot my bad-"
The freshly-baked food disappeared from her hands as she looked the other way.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" She doubled over sobbing and crawled over to her now badly seared piece of bread, desperately attempting to salvage what was left of it.
"Sasha don't!" Reiner rushed over to try to pry it out of her mouth, bending over and giving Captain Levi the perfect target.
I'll teach you to be so tall, Levi thought jealously as the rocket found its target, a straight bullseye into the six-foot boy's ass.
"OW!" He fell over Sasha, batting out the fire from his singed pants, which fell away to reveal his light blue boxers now turned gray.
I knew the Survey Corps was a bad idea, Bertholdt thought to himself as Levi turned to him, the most obvious target as the tallest in the courtyard, excluding Mike who was observing silently behind the corner of the building and thanking the Walls that he wasn't a recruit anymore. The smoke was annoying his nose quite a bit, but it wasn't every day that you got to watch Humanities' Strongest (And shortest) shoot fireworks at a bunch of terrified teenagers. But to be fair, who wouldn't be?
"Hey Titan," Levi aimed at Bertholdt, who visibly paled and shrunk.
Oh crap does he know-
His train of thought was interrupted as two rockets hit him in the temple and another three hit him in the pelvis, knocking him clean off his feet.
"Only one hundred left!" Erwin bellowed over the chaos; kids were bumping into each other and tumbling down with a firework or few lodged in their clothes. The blue-eyed man whipped out the last one hundred, which looked petrifying. They were twice the size of the regular ones Levi had been shooting, and the ends were in the shapes of sharp points.
"If you can't handle this, you'll never be able to beat the Titans!" Levi began chucking them as they launched, making them twice as fast and hit much harder, and if they thought that the old ones hurt, it was nothing compared to the agony of being hit by one of these monstrosities. The Scouts cringed from the window, smoke rising in the air and assaulting their nostrils.
"Join the Survey Corps they said!" Connie squalled, his pants aflame. "It'll be fun they said!" He ran into Bertholdt, who had just gotten up, catching his clothes on fire too.
"Connie! Bertholdt!" Armin dashed towards them, only to be tripped as Levi hurled one at his feet, and it began exploding in a shower of colorful sparks and loud booms.
"Oh yeah! I forgot we had those!" Hange whooped, shaking Levi just as he released another one, which flew towards the building to his left. Olou and Gunther jumped back from the window just in time as it blew into a thousand sparks, knocking back into Petra and Eld and the Levi Squad all fell unceremoniously into a pile on the floor.
"Don't touch me shitty glasses!" Levi snarled. "Or I'll shove one of these things down your damn throat!"
Laughing, Hange danced out of reach and went to hide behind Erwin. Rolling his eyes, he went back to demolishing the recruits. He could always deal with her any other day, but it's not every day you get to play dodgeball with fireworks. Well, one-sided dodgeball.
"You couldn't tell us earlier they exploded?!" Eren roared, immediately regretting it as Levi started directing all his strength towards knocking the angry teenager down.
"Augh!" One skimmed the top of his head as he evaded a firework at the last second.
"Last one!" Erwin declared, bringing something out from behind his back. It looked like an actual bomb.
"You're going to throw a bomb at us?!"
"Of course not," The Commander chuckled, handing it to Levi. "He is. Once it explodes, there's a coin inside. Whoever catches that coin will be excused from their chores for a week."
"WHAT?!" The effect was instantaneous. Everyone scrambled up, looking fixedly at the object in Levi's hand. He waved it from side to side and they all followed.
"Tch, brats." Tensing up his muscles, he heaved it into the sky where it disappeared from view.
"Get ready!"
It came back down, combusting into pieces fifty feet above their heads. A glint of gold could be seen flying towards them, and they bolted after it.
The coin whistled through the air towards the two superiors, and a stampede of feet followed after them. They were so entranced that they bulldozed right into Erwin and Levi, the latter who was swept up in a tidal wave of bodies. All the Scouts held their breaths as everyone toppled into one big heap on the grass, Levi and Erwin at the very bottom. The entire clearing was silent.
Then, a very pissed off "Get the fuck off me!" could be heard from beneath the recruits, and people rushed to get off spewing apologies and begging for their lives.
"Who got the coin?"
"I'm so sorry!"
"Please don't kill me!"
"Where is it?"
"Get off of him!"
"HEY!" Reiner shouted over the noise, and everyone quieted down a bit. "Who's got the coin?"
He was met with empty stares as everyone swiveled their heads to look at each other and holding up their coinless hands.
"I don't have it."
"Me neither."
"Same."
"Then who the Hell has it?" Jean demanded, glowering.
"I do." A low baritone rumbled, and everyone's hopes and dreams for a relaxing week was plummeted into the darkest recesses of their minds.
Levi held up the coin, smirking triumphantly. A chorus of sighs and complaints erupted.
"Is that even allowed Commander?"
"This has got to be a joke!"
"But he likes chores!"
"Come on!"
Connie and Sasha looked like they were on the verge of tears, and no one appeared much better. Soot and dirt covered their bodies from head to toe, and the majority of their clothes contained blackened holes. Bertholdt had fallen into a horse trough, leaving the gentle giant completely drenched. Christa and Ymir were covered head to toe in mud, and even Mikasa wasn't able to leave unscathed.
"Well I didn't say who was qualified to catch it." Erwin smiled apologetically.
"If you all want it that badly, you're free to fight me for it. If you win, you can have it." Levi flipped the coin in his hand, glaring challengingly at the teenagers surrounding him. "And if one of you brats really can beat me, then I'll extend it to a month."
They all looked at each other, weighing their options. He had to be tired from firing all those rockets, right? Right?
"C-can we fight in doubles?" Armin asked meekly.
"Whatever, sure."
"Mikasa?"
"No thanks," She shook her head. "I don't feel like it and I don't mind the chores that much." The truth was, one of the fireworks had ripped the waistband of her pants, and she didn't really want to fight singlehanded while the other held up her clothes.
"Reiner?"
He seemed to contemplate it for a second, before saying, "Only if someone else fights with me."
"Bertholdt! You were third in the entire 104th!" Connie urged, nudging the quiet boy.
"What?! No thanks! Uh, Eren why don't you? You were one of the best at hand-to-hand combat!"
"Um...."
"Come on! At least try!" Ymir encouraged, though she only wanted to see him get his ass kicked.
Flashbacks of the courtroom flew through Eren's mind, before he was rudely interrupted.
"Are we doing this or not? I don't have all damn day!" Levi spat, crossing his arms. Everyone stared at him expectantly, and he knew if he didn't do it Jean would mock him for the rest of eternity.
Swallowing, Eren finally agreed, though he would rather face a Titan emptyhanded. "Fine! I'll do it! Reiner! Let's go!"
"I've gotta see this!" Hange darted out, followed by other excited Survey Corps members.
"Alright then I guess-" Reiner hit the floor so fast that no one even saw Levi move. Everyone backed up a few steps, leaving Eren the only one within twenty feet of the world's strongest man.
"Um i-is it too late to back out now? Captain?" Eren, cowered back, preparing to have every bone in his body shattered and rearranged.
"Yes, brat."
From that day forth, there was an Eren-shaped dent next to the pavement, a grim reminder to humanity to not mess with the Captain scarier than Titans.
Attack on Titan Short Story Collection: Towels
The thudding of many pairs of soggy boots clamored down the halls of the Survey Corps. Screams echoed loudly down the empty pathways; today was the mandatory legion-wide training day, which had ended up in a massive rainstorm. Despite the raging weather, Erwin refused to let anyone inside until all the drills were finished. Thus, they had trained hours into the torrent, which only seemed to get worse as it progressed. Everyone was soaked, recruits, squad leaders, Captain Levi, and even the Commander. And the moment the stubborn, blond-haired man announced that training was over, it was a free for all to the showers.
The boys and girls had branched off, the females noticeably calmer than the males. Throwing aside rank, everyone stampeded to the restrooms, which there were only two of in the entire place. One for the girls and one for the boys. The doors were slammed open, Jean and Eren scrambling at each other to be first followed by the other recruits, the elder members of the Corps a little less eager than the newer soldiers to be drawn into a wild boxing match for a shower. Poor Armin was nearly stampeded over, only saved by Mike as he grabbed his arm before he could fall.
“Hey! I got here first horse-face!” Eren snarled at Jean, pushing at him with his shoulder. They had both simultaneously chosen the same shower head. Most of the males clumped together with their familiar groups, leaving the 104th in the rightmost corner of the area.
And of course, leaving a bunch of teenage boys to roam free to fight for a bath would end in nothing but chaos. There was only about one waterspout for every three heads, and everybody was chilled to the bone. Whoever was last would get no hot water. To save space, Erwin had torn down all the stalls, but being in a mass of drenched men arguing naked in front of each other didn’t seem to bother them as much as not being able to wash off all the filthy rainwater and mud.
“I’m freezing!” Connie whimpered, covering himself.
“Come on guys, why can’t we just all take turns?” Reiner tried to separate the Eren and Jean, who were about to start throwing punches.
“He started it!”
“Try that again, you suicidal maniac!”
“What the Hell did you just call me?!”
Meanwhile, the shy Bertholdt just tried to quietly sneak under a showerhead without being shoved into a wall, all the while pieces of soap started flying in the air as Jean and Eren started going at each other, ignoring Reiner and Armin. Connie, the shortest male there, was nearly trampled to death as other teenagers joined in, desperately brawling for a shower.
The older soldiers weren’t having much better luck either.
“Gunther! I got here first!” Olou growled as the two had a stare-off. Eld, who had managed to get there before either of them, just sighed as he water poured over his head watching them bicker.
Captain Levi and Commander Erwin were the last to make it, though immediately two showers opened up since no one wanted to face the short man’s wrath. He already looked murderous, with deeper bags around his eyes than usual, probably from shouting at all the recruits and rescuing them from breaking their necks the entire day. Erwin didn’t look much better; his usually neat golden hair was in disarray, and he too looked exhausted. Neither of them even bothered to comment on the chaos. People were wrestling on the floor, and objects flew around smacking random people in the face.
Mike, who was lucky enough to get a shower since he was so large no one wanted to fight him, stood gazing at the wall, not seeming to be leaving anytime soon. Another soldier, Gelgar, was in a heated debate with Hange’s assistant, Moblit, both under the same shower as another pair of soldiers tumbled at their feet.
The younger soldiers were beginning to push into their superiors’ space, but Levi still didn’t spare them a second glance. As long as they stayed the Hell away from him he didn’t care, he just wanted to get out of the damn monkey house as quickly as possible. After watching a good portion of them fail in ways he never thought possible during training, he was more than ready to retreat to his private quarters and settle down with a steaming cup of tea. Their shrieking was tolerable, for now. Either way, he could just give them a punishment sometime later when he didn’t feel like collapsing under a flood of water. It had been so busy lately, preparing for their next expedition that he hadn’t slept a blink in four days. Most of the higher-level officers had barely slept, too.
Their fighting still hadn’t reached him yet, since everyone gave him and Erwin a wide berth. Levi still had enough energy to glare at them after all. Still, there were other things he would have rather done than stand completely nude in the middle of a bunch of aggravated soldiers fighting each other for a goddamn shower. And the people who had won their showers didn’t seem to be wanting to leave anytime soon, since it had been a good fifty degrees outside, pouring frigid water on everyone. Eventually, the disagreements began to cease.
Everything was de-escalating until someone had the genius idea to twist a wet towel and deliver a stinging blow to some unfortunate soul’s behind. Levi was still scrubbing the soap out of his hair with his eyes scrunched shut when a loud slap echoed across the bathhouse, seeming to emitted from the corner with Eren and the others. He wasn’t sure exactly who did it, but once he found out he was going to shove it so far up their ass that they’ll be shitting pieces of it for a week. The slap was immediately followed by a shrill screech, and then everything fell apart. Every boy under the age of seventeen decided that wet towel blows were the only way to go, and scrambled madly for their linen.
“I’m not dying here!” Connie howled, waving it around him wildly, hitting a few people who couldn’t dodge fast enough. Unfortunately, Armin happened to be standing close enough with his back turned to be hit directly across the thighs, and he tumbled down wailing.
Jean and Eren were still locked in battle, this time trying to strangle each other with towels instead of fists. Several unlucky people who were close enough got caught in the crossfire, and everyone began invading each other’s spaces. Moblit slipped as he was backing up, falling backwards onto Levi who was then pushed into Erwin, the latter who seemed to be dozing off under the showerhead.
Hurling obscenities at the terrified assistant, the quick-tempered captain thrust him off and stormed towards the middle of the conflict, leaving Erwin extremely confused as to how he ended up flat on his back on the floor and Moblit on the verge of fainting.
“Hey you pieces of horseshit, cut it out!” The senior members all shrunk back when he passed, but most of the younger ones didn’t seem to notice him over all the hollering. He was nearly knocked over when Bertholdt tumbled backwards, dragging Reiner with him when he stumbled over someone hunched on the floor.
“I said,” Levi inhaled, and his squad all held their breaths, wincing as they prepared for what was coming. “SHUT THE FUCK UP OR I WILL GIVE ALL OF YOU SOMETHING TO SCREAM ABOUT!”
That was when a sharp, stinging pain erupted on his ass, undoubtedly from someone’s stray towel.
The entire room fell silent as he processed what the Hell just happened. Even Eren and Jean had stopped quarreling to gawk in horror at the fuming man standing in the middle of a pile of wet bodies. At that moment anyone in the room would have preferred to be devoured by a Titan than to wait for what was to inevitably come.
We’re so screwed, was the only thing that flashed through everyone’s mind at that instant.
“All of you shitheads,” He said dangerously low, anger radiating off him and killing every hope of survival they ever had. No one had thought it was possible that someone that small could ever hold that much terror. “ARE GOING TO BE SHITTING TOWELS FOR THE NEXT FUCKING MONTH!”
None of the recruits from the 104th Cadet Core had ever felt the agony of being whipped by a wet towel going one hundred miles per hour, and no one ever would since that day.
***
“Why are they all standing?” Christa whispered to Ymir, who just shrugged nonchalantly.
“I dunno. When are they not being weird?”
“And why is Captain Levi scowling like that?”
The Titan-slayer had a good thirty feet radius around him, and even the Commander was a bit fearful to sit within that distance. They had seen horrors that would haunt their nightmares for all of eternity that night. Some of the older Scouts who had not been fast enough to escape his reach also fell under his rage, and most were grumbling cautiously to the ones lucky enough to be able to sit down without feeling like someone had set fire to their backsides. All the girls could only stare curiously at the males, most of whom were standing up with their meals and wincing with every move.
“Hey Connie,” Sasha leaned over to him, talking softly. Even she was affected by the unusual atmosphere. “Why did most of you guys limp in here? What happened?”
Connie could only mumble something about towels and the devil, and none of the other boys seemed any more responsive to the probing.
“Let’s just say, none of those brats know how to really whip a towel,” Levi stalked past, smirking smugly as he went to go wash his plates.
And no one dared to place their towel within his reach in the bathhouse since that day.
