; op permission to recolour ?? /nf These are adorable :0 ( won't remove signature ofc, will credit you and such as well if you'd like !! /gen )
I created a pile of cats and then I colored the pride flags into it. Idk, enjoy. Don’t “steal” them ig, but like, you can share them, just don’t say you made ‘em. Whatever, my signature’s on it.
Yay pride month!
; fr op don't stop. As an aroacespec person this is funny as shit. Continuing giving us shoutouts please. /gen
am I wrong for saying “shoutout to asexuals”?
ok so recently, whenever a conversation has died or whatever, I’ll just say “shoutout to asexuals” and then move on, because, idk, it’s a bit funnygoofy and also I like my asexual friends. Anyway, I said it in front of my mother and she said not to do it anymore, because it could be seen as “othering” people with asexuality. I don’t see it that way at all, but I wouldn’t like to be accidentally homophobic, so I’m using a poll to get real asexual opinions
for reference, I’m bisexual, and my mother knows that, so I am part of the LQBTQ+ community, but I’m (maybe) not asexual. I’ve been thinking about things around the aro/ace spectrum, based on past experiences, but I feel as though I’m not sure enough to give myself any proper labels. My mother doesn’t know about that part.
so, my mother’s arguments:
It may seem like I’m “othering” the asexual community by saying that
its like being the a white girl in a room with a few black people in it and saying “shoutout to black people” - it feels weird to her
im not saying it because I genuinely want to support asexuals, I’m saying it as more of a verbal tic
my 2 asexual friends agreeing is not a large enough group, even if they both are fine with it, others may not be
and my arguments are:
Im saying it to include asexuals, because they can sometimes feel disregarded in LGBTQ+ spaces
its pride month, literally the best time to give random unprovoked asexuality shoutouts
Idk, I feel like asexual people wouldn’t really be offended by that
both of my asexual friends think it’s hilarious and encourage me to keep going
it’s like a cis person saying “yay trans pride” at random moments and being told not to because it’s making trans people feel more separate
im not othering asexual people, I’m celebrating them
also pls reblog this around I want the largest possible data set so I know if I’m problematic or not
gravity falls was such a great show for so many reasons but one in particular that stuck with me to this day was that it proudly encouraged kids to be weird. there was never the almost stifling message of "everyone is their own normal :)" because as a neurodivergent child that is almost never how it actually feels. it did an awesome job at saying "yeah, you stick out like a sore thumb. six of em, actually! how cool is that!?" and it encouraged you to support your loved ones weirdness even if you don't begin to understand it
; op for president please and thank you.
gender segregated bathrooms are OUT instead i'm proposing a new way of dividing up public bathroom spaces:
1. unisex general adult bathrooms - these should have a variety of stalls and sinks and (where space allows) a separate, screened-off urinal area for your dedicated stand-up pee-ers. it should also have at least a couple of fully self contained stalls with a toilet and sink inside (behind a lockable door) that can double as a changing room for people who need a costume change on the fly
2. children's bathroom - with low-level toilets and sinks and stalls big enough to allow an adult to comfortably help a lil buddy pee. include some toilets with those potty seats for toddlers. the kids bathroom would also have some designated baby-change booths. adjacent to the kids bathroom should be a room for feeding babies and/or pumping breast milk and it should have facilities for heating water and cleaning out baby bottles
3. accessible bathroom - for elderly and/or disabled people. larger toilet stalls, hand rails, emergency alarms etc. the accessible bathroom should also have facilities for e.g. changing out colostomy or catheter bags and for hygienically changing and disposing of adult diapers/incontinence pads etc, including some stalls big enough to allow a carer to come in and help a brother out if necessary
all bathrooms should also have enclosed shower facilities and free sanitary products. thank you for coming to my TED talk entitled "i just wanna take a piss in peace is that too much to ask"
; the problem is I've started assuming people don't actually want my honest opinion when they ask for it because I've been called rude or had people be offended when I do, but now people have started complaining that I'm " lying to them " when I compliment them instead and I'm like. ☹️ what.
Why are neurotypicals always like "What do you think? Give me your honest opinion." and then they get upset when you tell them your honest opinion? You can just. Ask. For a compliment. You can ask for support.
Why do they do it? Do they think they sound selfish if they ask for compliments?? Do they think *I* sound selfish when I ask for compliments??
If you're neurotypical and you're reading this, please just ask for compliments when you want them and ask for people's honest opinions when you actually want them.
Thanks for reading!
