five would have never done that to Diego, throughout the entire first three seasons all he ever did was try and protect his siblings, he wouldn’t have done something that would break Diego’s heart like that, even if he wasn’t sure whether they could get home or not.

also what was up with him not showing Lila the way to get home for FIVE MONTHS. The moment he found out he could get back to his siblings he would have gone, and I get that he was tired and wanted to retire with someone cause he’s had such a stressful and lonely life but he wouldn’t have just abandoned his siblings like that

I just finished the final umbrella Academy season and.... I have thoughts but all I want to say rn....

I remember how fun season one was........how did we end up here? Should we just give up? Can we maybe have like a little stupid sitcom alternate reality where all the hargreeves are just happy? Please? The fandom doesn't want a masterpiece we just want them to be happy

Season 4 of tua is the opposite of fan service. Fan disservice if you will.

if tua s4 doesn’t end with klaus having his soldier boy with all of his memories back and them being alive and safe and in love and living peaceful lives then what is even the point

I have lots of complicated feelings about season 4 of Tua, but one of the things that bothered me the most is Five is just so nonchalant about the world ending?? Like I guess you could argue that he’s tired (which he is) and knows that they don’t have any other options, but that’s never stopped him before? I think it would’ve hit so much harder if we actually got a scene of Five grappling with the fact that the apocalypse is his fault. That nothing he has gone through to save his family mattered because the world was going to end anyway.

That if he hadn’t jumped forward in time at thirteen years old he would’ve died with his family the first time around, and it wouldn’t have changed anything .

He’s saved his family and watched the world end a ridiculous amount of times, everything he’s ever done (ignoring the 5 months at the greenhouse) (ignoring that forever actually) has been fueled by his need to protect his family, and now he learns that he has to ask them to willingly give themselves up? I know this time is different because he’s dying with them this time, he’s not alone, but he still has to watch.

I know I joked about wanting Five to have a mental breakdown, but also genuinely that would’ve made his arc so much more impactful. They had the perfect opportunity with the Five Deli, it’s literally a place outside of time full of Five’s who have already excepted that there’s nothing they can do. He could’ve had his big emotional realization and it wouldn’t have any impact on the timing or any characters except himself.

It wouldn’t even need to be full sobbing or anything, they could’ve just done an overhead shot of the Five he was talking to leaving the booth, all the other Five’s moving around talking while our Five sits by himself completely still clutching his coffee cup. A shot that focuses closer to his hands gripping the cup, or his face, his eyes watering or him just looking absolutely bone tired. Maybe even crying, but he doesn’t have to be. He gets up and leaves, either breaking the cup and that being the only signal to his inner turmoil, or him being completely calm setting the coffee back on the table and leaving while the chaos of the other Five’s moves around him.

Everything’s the same after that, his siblings don’t get a look into his mental state, but we do. We know how much guilt and anger he’s carrying, we know that he’s been fighting for them for 60 something years. We know it’s all been for nothing.

Let us see that this isn’t just Five accepting his fate, but excepting the fact that he failed, and he can’t fix it this time.

Let’s talk season 4 umbrella academy.

Season 4 was honestly so underwhelming.

The destruction to Allison’s personality was in season 3 when she sexually assaulted luther. I was hoping in season 4 we could see more of Luther’s perspective on it but instead it was forgotten, like it never happened which I really hate cause like why are we brushing past it as if that’s normal?

Now five and lila, I genuinely was so confused why they even have a romance to begin with. Every morals and value they had as a character suddenly flew out the window. Don’t understand? Let me explain.

Five character from the beginning had an overwhelming love for his family. Getting trapped in the apocalypse world for 45 years and still hadn’t given up on going back to his family. So it confuses me on why he would ever betray Diego (his brother) like that cause season 1, 2 and 3 five would never do that. Five gets trapped 7 years on a subway and suddenly when he actually finds a way to go back home to his family he couldn’t care less.

Now you can argue its because of his love for Lila, I’d say that would make sense IF it wasn’t for the fact that five spent 45years in the apocalypse world with Dolores and yet still left her behind to go back to his family. So what changed? Why is five suddenly a homewrecker?

Now I wanna talk about the ending. The ending made sense, I will say that especially knowing that in one of the earlier season when five talk to his future self he said “don’t save the world” so the ending being that they have to all die by letting the world end makes complete sense! But what doesn’t make sense is how the kids are still alive. If they never existed wouldn’t the kids also cease to exist, scientifically that’s how that works. You can say it’s because they were put on that subway thing but that still wouldn’t make sense. The subway was created because of the umbrella academy, because five kept saving the world and accidentally creating different time lines so if the umbrella academy ceased to exist so would the subway.

Umbrella Academy season 4:

I finished the entire season a few nights ago, so lets talk about some things;

I haven't checked in with the fandom in any way, but from most of the tiktoks i've seen, not many like this season. Completely understandable, makes sense, especially after seeing that weird (a lot of people used the word:) predatory relationship which went down between Five and Lila. I definitely did not see it coming, and though I don't find it predatory myself, as they are both consenting adults, since Five is in the body of an (i think) 20-something year old, but has the mind of an (if i remember right) 60/70 year old(?). I think how it happened can also be an excuse; they were trapped together for (what felt like to them) 7 years. Not to mention that Five had probably been lonely for some time now, and though Lila claimed that her marriage satisfied her, I really don't think it did.

This all however, is totally not an excuse for their behavior. Lila was married with three kids, and Five was the brother of her husband. They were in-laws, which does add to the weird pile.

The only thing I really enjoyed about their "hang", was their travels through all the different timelines. And now we have another academy (The Phoenix Academy), that's just a fun thought. I would have loved to see an episode where they explored the different timelines with different academies.

In other news: I love Luther.

I'm sorry, but I just do. I think the way he desperately tries to keep everything together when it comes to their family is commendable. In previous season, I always hated how he excused Reggie's behavior, but now that he's left that behind and focuses solely on his siblings instead is adorable. Both and he and Allison have given up on the whole incestuous relationship they had, and now they don't even mention it nor acknowledge it. Though normally I would say that that's not a healthy way to deal, I think it's actually better to just leave it all be.

Yes, I know he's kind of pathetic. Yes, I know he is also somewhat selfish. No, I do not care. He's trying very hard to be cool older brother Luther and cool uncle Luther. I think his whole descent into sex work should have been talked about in a better way, but somehow he always brought it up as a thing he enjoys doing? I'm not going to go into prolematic things that the writers have been doing, but this is definitely one of them. There's nothing consensual about sex work, and it should never be shown as something that one might enjoy doing.

This is one of the first actual seasons, however, where we get to witness Diego doing his thing! (I know we've seen him do some other tricks, but they never been this detailed.) I was so shocked to see him do his little spin in the air to redirect the bullets during the second episode, but I was disappointed to see that Lila did NOT care.

Talking about Lila and Diego, did anybody else catch that one part in the first episode about how they basically had the twins accidentally? Diego explains to Luther that though he loves Lila and his kids, he feels exhausted and not at all satisfied. Then he explaines that they had the twins through Lila telling him that since she was breastfeeding, she couldn't get pregnant. It's unclear now if they were both mistaken, but just the way he was talking about it, it felt like to me that he felt betrayed by Lila. I'm pretty sure that Lila was aware that she could still get pregnant, she just knew that she wouldn't be able to convince Diego, so instead she did this.

Viktor is as cool as ever. He's always been very cool, but thinking back to all other old (pre-transition) Elliot Page roles, its so noticiable how uncomfortable he was in his body, and getting to see him now, playing a male character, whos not only accepted by his siblings but Reggie too?! Amazing. And him bonding with Reggie? Delicious, I ate that right up. Reggie calling him "boy" (and other masculine nicknames)? Love, love, love.

This is one point for the writers and Netflix, this is exactly how Hollywood should handle an actor coming out, and I hope that this will be an example for future media that will feature transgender actors in the middle of transitioning.

Klaus is our little weirdo who DESERVES a break. He needs it. Please.

We get to see him clean this season, but I did not expect him to behave like this while off drugs. Honestly, I'm not sure I expected anything. I guess I kind of just thought he'd do drugs anyway? Or that he'd get clean but still behave somewhat the same way.

Poor Klaus was also a character subjected to sex work this season, it just made a bit more sense this time. He definitely did not enjoy it, that was something they made very obvious, but they still couldn't do it just right. It was awful watching him have to make a choice between getting money to pay off his debt and leave or a sole condom for "dealing" with costumers. They didn't make it obvious how many clients he really had, but through dialog, you could kind of guess that he had way more than the one girl whose money he tried stealing.

I loved seeing his relationship with Allison this season. And I loved his relationship with Claire even more. I felt the scene where he went home to rob Allison's place so he could get money to buy drugs was realistic, but since I've never had any experiences with addiction of that kind, I won't speak on it.

The villains of the season were kind of nothing if I'm being honest. I loved their sense of style, but other than that they were basic, text-book style villains, who were mostly around to just help the story along. They weren't too memorable, but neither was Reggie's wife? Partner? I'm not sure who she was, or if she counts as a villain or not? I didn't really understand her role, but I did like how she treated the siblings the first time they met.

Then there is Ben and Jennifer.

I feel like we never really made Ben an official part of the siblings, even though he is supposed to be. His relationship with Jennifer was very cute, but once again, it was not too memorable, even though it was supposed to be the main story of the entire season. I find it weird how it all looks unplanned while also being completely planned? Like, you'd assume that ever since season 1, this has always been the story of Ben's death, and yet it still feels like it just wasn't? It feels like they were putting this whole thing together blindly, and then someone thought of the right thing and that was what made it all make sense.

And I don't like how things with Jennifer went unexplained! What does that fucking squid have to do with anything???

But anyway, other than all that, this season was a very basic example of a Netflix series. It was entertaining but not deep. It was a good watch, but I don't think I could ever do a re-watch. I think it was overall, just nice.

like rn in season 4, as bad as the entire season was, that one scene when diego does a flip with all the bullets and redirects them at the people who were shooting at him, was the coolest thing ive ever seen

we need more of that, and some stuff with the other siblings too

okay so am i the only one who wishes umbrella academy incorporated their powers more into the show….

like maybe i’m just a sucker for superhero content but i feel like they should’ve done more with their powers, especially as the show continued. like the first 2 seasons were pretty good for it but then in the last two they only focused on the character development which i know is what most people like but i just wanna see some badass fight scenes.

my favourite scenes in the show are 1. the season 2 intro ofc and 2. the scene in season 1 where they save the bank from being robbed.

like everyone is using their powers in cool ways and they’re a team. it’s like they completely disregarded it later on. i know the family is supposed to be disfunctional but i wish they had more than like 4 scenes where they actually fought using their powers as a team, that’s their whole thing! it’s what the show is literally about!

plus they could do soooo much more with their powers. that’s what i like about marvel is that when a superhero gets a new development in their power they actually use it, but they do not do that in TUA and for what? are the writers just not good at superhero writing? i guess not because they could be doing so much more.

the thing that pisses me off exponentially that i’ve been wishing they would do every season but never did is utilize diego’s breath-holding powers. in the comics he can hold his breath for as long as he wants and they never used it.

and klaus too, he can conjure almost anybody??? and he just doesn’t??? like i know it’s traumatizing and stuff but still. i like that they did a lot with his power in the later seasons, but he can do so much more.

it goes for all of them too, they all have so much untapped potential, instead of wasting their time introducing more and more characters, why wouldn’t they just add more depth to what they’ve already done. i would much prefer that than what they did.

they could even have some really cool spin offs with the characters. like if there was a show about how they were raised, or their powers as a team like animated maybe just like the avengers or dc but edgier. or just their lives without powers, i’m sure lots of people would love that. this franchise has so much promise, i hate to see it being abandoned.

I think the saddest and craziest part about season 4 is how they were able to work with a boy since he was 13 YEARS OLD and give him and a love interest who is 15 YEARS OLDER THAN HIM?! When he just turned legal age, it was as if they were waiting for him to turn legal age so that they could do this weird pedophilic home-wrecking relationship, but genuinely, there’s a need to be more protection for child actors, because what is this, and I’m sincerely sorry for Aidan and other child actors who had to go through this kind of stuff.

started to miss five so I decided to watch the umbrella academy for the umpteenth time which then led to me missing him even more. which then led to me imagining what life would be like dating five now that the universe was reset

(Update: this shit was made before that shithole of a new season came out…so I’m still going to pretend this is what happened instead of that mess of a last season)

• because you don’t have to worry about about saving the world every two seconds you two can actually get some sleep for the first time in ages

• you CANNOT convince me that five is the big spoon. have you seen this man??? he tried to be the big spoon once and wouldn’t stop moving around till you flipped him over and let him be the little spoon [he fell asleep instantly with you embracing him :,) ]

• five is almost always awake before you so most of the time you wake up to breakfast already ready on the table with coffee prepared just the way you like it :))

• if you somehow manage to wake up before five you lay in bed staring at his beautiful features till he wakes up and catches you staring. who wouldn’t stare tho.

•five being the old man he is likes to spend his day at the park observing nature’s beauty and your beauty.

•after a long day of NOT saving the apocalypse you’d come and five being the loving husband he is tries to make dinner for you

•but ofc he somehow manages to burn pasta so instead you order pizza for dinner alongside a nice glass of wine.

• something that became routine after drinking wine at dinner was slow dancing to music.

• one song that frequently plays after dinner is Come In, Mr. Lonely.

•what makes this song so special is that five hardly ever sings but it’s one of the few songs he will sing out loud and it’s because of you <33

• five would definitely hold you close as you both tipsily sway back and forth.

• he seems like the type to whisper “i love you” into your ear while the song plays in the background.

• after dinner you both make your way back to the bedroom where you share drunken kisses and end the night with you hugging five while his head is on your chest and listens to the beating of your heart which makes him go to sleep faster than ever.

I’m being delulu so i started wondering (¡again!) what life with five would be post-season 3. But like…he’s a teacher in this…

* and what do you know!! you become a teacher too :D

* five would definitely teach math while you’d teach history (cuz you traveled through time when working with the commission, idk just go with it)

* while your classes may be a bit hard for the students you two are definitely the schools favorite teachers!!

* i mean why wouldn’t you be? the students can’t get enough of the two mysterious young teachers who showed up out of nowhere in the middle of the school year….

* you two definitelyyyy didn’t threaten the previous math and history teachers to quit their jobs or else they’d be dead by nightfall

* I just know many students are crushing on you BOTH. have you seen yourself lately? You look great ;)

* you both find it funny tho cuz they believe they’re crushing on teachers who are in their early 20s when it’s actually two 50 year olds in their younger bodies

* you two wouldn’t be the type to eat lunch with the rest of the faculty. you’d eat together in each other’s classroom enjoying your time together even if it’s for a short time

* five’s the type of boyfriend/teacher who interrupts your class for the dumbest reasons just cuz he wants to see you :,)
