A Dance Through Time
This took me about two months to finish and it's the biggest piece I've ever done. Inspiration came while I was listening to Fast Car by Tracy Chapman one day, and the vision of Hunter and Omega swaying to the rhythm together came to life before my eyes. Listening to it more brought a realization that some parts of the song fit the story of these two almost perfectly, taking them on a journey from the very first episode of the show to the day peace is restored in the galaxy - like the first verse talking about their beginnings and the second one describing the struggles of living from job to job that we see in season 2. But the core of the story - of the show, of this duo, and of these characters separately - can be brought down to these four lines:

Lightning watches the situation silently for a bit, seeing Sir Pheles return with snacks and setting up the TV. Mitch who seems excited over something called a server mod.
He could fight it. Ultimately, Mephisto can't keep him in place without a fight. But the bizarre room shows a clear obsession and Lewin has a feeling the demon king won't give up on this easily.
Also those snacks looks pretty good...
Lewin grabs one of the anime dishes with chips and with a sigh he dramatically flops into a bean bag chair that looks big and soft. It is.
"Fiiiine," he whines.
Given how many portals he goes through every day, Mitch doesn't seem all that bothered by the sudden scenery change. The bedroom just seems to get so much cooler every time he gets inside...and in a way somewhat reminds him of his own, giving it a small, unfortunate homey feel he'd love to just tear out from himself.
Mitch holds up his arms in the air, glancing towards Lightning with a grin. "Absolutely! And it looks like the server mod mercilessly agrees!" Merciless, because this could be the same level of torture forcing certain people to watch Lord of the Rings.

You know what would be evil? If Mizu has gone through all her trials and tribulations, has killed, been betrayed, lost her humanity, lost all her companions, suffered, face humiliation, only to find out that the white man she has been searching for is dead. Dead. All of suffering and the revenge she was going to get would be pointless because who would she get revenge on? It's entirely possible too. We don't know how old her dad is. We know nothing about her father. All of what she went through. Pointless because she wasted her life. She will still remain a monster because the one who damned her to hell has already escaped through death. That would be a cold ending. In the end, Mizu couldn't get justice. She couldn't get revenge because justice was never for people like her. No matter what era you live in, whether the Edo Period of Japan or the modern day, justice will never be served. Because the justice system we believe in was just a sweet lie to damn us to suffer for all of eternity.
