im praying that we get a third season of heartstopper because its such a real show... it shows the queer teen AND adult experience in so many ways... we have charlie obviously who knew for a while he was gay and got outed something a lot of people suffer through... nick who goes through a big gay crisis and slowly finds out hes bi and becomes comfortable with his sexuality... theres depictions of homophobia and the problems of homophobic parents/families.... we also have elle and her journey as a trans woman and how she comes to terms with herself.... tara and darcy have, though a little more in the background, a journey of coming out, leaving abusive households, and showing the world their love.... and we have isaac<3 im not ace or aro or aroace but judging by my friend's reactions, his depiction in the series was accurate and his journey is so special, i love so so much... and before i forget mr farouk who didnt realise his sexuality much later in life and mr ajayi who knew for a long time and how he helped mr farouk and their journey... and of course tao (my love<3) and imogen and so many other people... it shows allies and homophobes turned allies, it adresses mental health, teenage friendships and the rollercoaster that is highschool, and so many other real life problems like oh my god this show is everything to me and i NEED a season three

One interesting thing I have noticed in Heartstopper: (tw- eating disorder and spoilers)

if you pay attention to the trailer on Netflix, and the part where Tori calls Ben a knob, you'll notice Charlie has a bowl of cereal in his hands. We only see him stir it with a spoon a few times. He's not eating it. He's also looking down at it anxiously and hesitantly. This could be foreshadowing for the mentions of his eating disorder, which is shown. Every time Charlie has food in front of him, he's not really eating well. Examples include the beef dish in Paris (Nick notices this).

The intense urge to reread Heartstopper, but knowing that A) I’m already in the middle of Radio Silence, B) I already read Solitaire and am buying Loveless and I Was Born For This, and C) I don’t think I’m emotionally stable enough to reread Heartstopper Vol. 4, it was so well done and just, an amazing book that I LOVED, but, it triggered me so freaking badly at one point XD XD which is also the only thing stopping me from buying Nick and Charlie/This Winter

I’m sorry, but the scene in Heartstopper where Nick suggests to Tao that he should join the rugby team is so funny. Like the way Tao’s eyebrows just go up then DISAPPEAR into his beanie is peak comedy. (P.S someone pls make a gif of it pls pls please I’m begging)

can we just talk about how amazing it is that heartstopper has a character that is completely comfortable in his heterosexuality and doesn’t worry that doing certain things will make him seem gay

like

tao is the only non lgbt person in the friend group and he’s totally chill about it. he never once worries if charlie will develop a crush on him. he never questions if liking a trans girl makes him not straight. he kisses charlie during truth or dare and it’s not a big deal because they’re friends. he doesn’t care if people think he gave charlie the hickey. he’s not afraid to be flamboyant.

like i know this should be the bare minimum but the reality is that it isnt. especially for teenage boys. and i just think tao is amazing <3
