little ahsoka doodle I did 💙💙
ok so in the wake of the new acolyte trailer I decided to finally keep reading the high Republic books I've been meaning to get to, more specifically 'light of the jedi' and I read something I absolutely adored
so avar kriss
she has a very special connection to the force, needs to find a hunk of a damaged ship in the whole star system.
she sits down in a field of farmers crop saying that the force is extremely strong here, it's all around her. she floats up her saber and makes it start to spin like a windmill in front of her, she then uses this lightsaber and adjusts it's speed to channel the force to find the object like a kind of force magnifying glass to put it simply if crudely
i really love this and think it's a genius push to the boundaries of what can be done with a lightsaber when paired with the force and it got me thinking of maybe alternative ways that a lightsaber could be used.
what if a Jedi needs to push something that's far away, so they throw their saber in that direction, ignite it with the force and use the blade like an extension of themselves to push said object away? that would be so cool!
id love to see more of this in the new show, fingers crossed!
ps. avar kriss' lightsaber is so gorgeous and I love it
i still think about the plo koon lightsaber we could've gotten way too often lol
i know lots of people think it's stupid but I'm sure movie magic could've made it work
okay sooooo
am I the only one who actually prefers the lore that says that Jedi collect their crystals and then meditate with them and that's what gives the crystal it's colour??? (i certainly hope not)
i know it's a thing in the comic books where characters just pick out a crystal with the color already ingrained into it and there's nothing more to it but I feel like half the reason lightsabers are cool to me is because they actually tell you something about the user, they tell you their preferences in combat, how they view the force and sometimes even how deadly they can be
do I wanna believe mace windu just found a purple crystal or do I wanna believe he got this rare color because he uses dark side tactics but has the ability not to be blinded by them?
the first time I saw Anakin's lightsaber was blue I thought it was very telling about who he was and I believe that it was actually the first hint to his dark tactics and eventually his fall to the sith (even if it was by accident this is my interpretation).
how could the chosen one, the person with the most midi-chlorians, a person who has incredible force potential, uses a blue lightsaber instead of a green one? it is so accurate to his character because blue means you prefer using your saber to using the force in combat, they're also usually the first to pull them out and the ones to do it without hesitating to anyone anywhere.
i just thought it was perfect, that paired with an aggressive style, it was right under their noses
lightsabers vs lightswords
lightsabers have cleaner and more defined blades, especially at the base near the emmiter.
along with the kyber crystal (or a few other limited options) they also have a focusing crystal(s) to stabilize and basically clean up the shape of the blade and push it together, cooling it down as well, this helps the lightsaber be safer for longer periods of use and gives the saber it's classic hum
lightswords or have no focusing crystal and because of this they have sparks emerging from the bottom when ignited, they have very crackly sounds (which I love) and because they heat up quickly they're slightly more unstable and leave trails of smoke when extinguished by the user
these sabers were actually a more ancient version of the lightsaber known in the high Republic and onwards
okay I was totally gonna wait for all the episodes of the acolyte to release for me to say anything about the show because I wanted to let it have its time before I judged but I just wanna say
I absolutely loved jecki in 'night'!! her jar'kai was literally the smoothest and most satisfying version of the fighting style I've seen in live action and I'm really happy with the whole episode period.
I think I might draw her soon tbh
new headcanon: I now believe Ahsoka tano used holos of Jecki lon to study jar kai movements when she was a padawan and I love it
P.S. Ahsoka also maybe loved that their sabers matched colours
P.P.S. this look is so Ahsoka coded and I loved it
force ghost Jecki Lon with an unaware Ahsoka Tano just there to support her 💙🤍
(I guess soon was today lol)
head empty, just thinking about Jecki watching over ahsoka as one with the force, helping her throughout her life as ahsoka even surpassed her own age.
helping her train against the clones with Anakin's tough training, as she took up her second saber, when she went on all those suicide missions, when the Jedi cast her out, when she wandered the galaxy on her own and felt abandoned by all, during order 66, getting her white sabers the age Jecki was when she died
when ahsoka has no one Jecki was next to her, supporting her as the force
couldn't agree more, it's everyone just tearing into it because it's Disney starwars but this show just needs to have its own time to breathe so we can enjoy it
One of the things I've realized is most of the reviewers of The Acolyte are...incredibly childish.
I've seen people complain about not understanding why Qimir's armor was shorting out the lightsabers.
They tell you about it in the next episode.
People complained about Sol not realizing it's Mae...and they explain why...in the next episode.
Take a minute...breathe...and maybe shut the hell up before you start tearing into an unfinished story.
I've been wondering for a while how to put everything I've seen about the acolyte finale into words and this is it here, plain and simple. it was an amazing finale.
The Acolyte spoilers:
It’s wild to me how much discourse there is about points from The Acolyte that I think were pretty obvious lol
People arguing about Qimir being a Sith or not. He explicitly said he was looking for an acolyte. An acolyte is an apprentice to the apprentice of the Sith master. Then Qimir said he wanted the power of two. I mean what more evidence do we need lol
Also about Plagueis being his master. I’m not 100% sure, but I’m 99% sure he is lol my theory is, is that Plagueis has heard about these twins and has ordered Qimir to train one or Qimir is doing all this on his own cause eventually he needs to overthrow his master (we know the future, this won’t happen).
The bleeding crystal. The argument is “but anakins lightsaber didn’t bleed!$&&/“ yeah because his crystal wasn’t exposed. Did we miss the multiple shots of Sols exposed lightsaber and the blue crystal????? Osha bled the crystal cause she was touching it.
Was it romantic at the end? YES.
Anyway just needed to get this off my chest or hands whatever lol cause I’m seeing too many people not get this
that was also master Kelnacca's lightsaber, the one sol had to disarm him from when the witches were in his mind, the one mae stole, the one Jecki used against the stranger and the one that was cut when the fight ended, that saber did see a lot of blood
The way we always knew we were going to see the bleeding of a kyber crystal in The Acolyte...
ladies and gentlemen,
them.
so I have no clue where it actually came from but I got completely obsessed with Darth maul out of nowhere.
again.
but I just wanted to say for now, does anyone else regularly think about how this guy is kinda short? I'm so obsessed with it, like so much it's actually painful
look at that difference, he's canonically 5'7 here and I can't get enough of it, it's too much for me to handle
the next thing I love about maul is that stupid moment in the middle of his first fight with obi wan.
obi wan cuts his saber in half before kicking him and it makes me laugh every. single. time
(I couldn't find a gif of it so I had to make one)
do you see that face? he just accepted the fact he was falling, just collapsed, still processing what happened to his saber and I love it
this realization hit me like a truck
*nose twitch*
am I reaching here or do y'all see it too...?
no because I love imagining all the characters kyber crystal personalities, like imagine a master in the council just going back to meditate with their crystal about all the gossip from the meeting
Jedi trying to not sound any more strange than they already do to non-jedi: the Kyber crystal that powers my lightsaber is Force Sensitive, but it isn't sentient.
Actual Kyber Crystals: the judgiest bitches you've ever met. Has opinions on everything. If your cat could gossip to you and also help you with your sword form that would be a Kyber crystal.
Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber: first this karking shabuir keeps dropping me which wasn't bad because the handsome commander would polish me and give me good vibes before returning me and NOW he buries me in a kriffing desert. Bruck Chun was right. Oafy-Wan would lose his head if it wasn't attached. Worse human in existence.
Obi-Wan's lightsaber when he retrieves it: 😍 daddy daddy daddy! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
im legitimately so sick of starwars fans ruining everything, the acolyte was a great story with amazing lightsaber fights and good acting and it had so much potential, was it 10/10?? no! but
1: it doesn't have to be perfect to be good!!
2: not everything has to connect back to the characters that we literally know everything about! I want something new!
it just feels like this is a sifi franchise that's scared of actually experimenting with its own universe because the fans can't understand or appreciate anything more complicated than the equivalent of chicken nuggets and French fries
this show was something I genuinely liked and if you need me to tell you that it's fine that you didn't like it
grow up, please
this just sucks
I've never seen a fandom destroy and sabotage its own media so hatefully before, it just makes you sad at this point, I'm really gonna miss these characters and this story and what could've been
No one is going to silence me
No, Star Wars The Acolyte wasn’t perfect, and it’s not the best of Star Wars. In fact, nothing in this franchise has been perfect, not even The Mandalorian (I’ve just thrown three scorpions at myself, but oh well).
The Acolyte was like breathing fresh air after YEARS of repetitive content focused on: The Empire, Skywalker family, Rebellion, and that’s it.
The Acolyte was a series that reignited a spark and charm in people who had distanced themselves a bit—or a lot—from SW due to the toxicity or simply because they no longer connected with the new content.
The Acolyte made MANY women interested in Star Wars thanks to the fact that it was made and written by a woman who KNOWS what we really like, and that’s why it delivered a tremendous Female Gaze.
The Acolyte DOES deserve or deserved a second season. But as always, they’ve shown what their priorities are: to continually cater to the toxic crowd and the 40+ men who want to keep living in nostalgia and are stuck in The Empire Strikes Back."
