Is life just a dream? Those are not even all the chapters.

Chapters will probably take time to be written, but at least I have the structure of where the story will be going to.

PEARL AND MICHAEL

Just finished rewatching Steven Universe again and some characters remind me of the ones in Lil Lucifer AU.

Michael kind of reminds me of Pearl, mostly because of their attitude towards humanity (at least with the Pearl from the start of the show).

They don't really understand the social aspect of mortals and do not understand or have complications understanding some of their things.

Still, they fight for them, because of a powerful being who they serve (the are technically their servants, Michael and his Papa and Pearl with Rose).

Now, talking about personality, both of them have an obsession with this higher being and try to hide it with "it's love" card (platonic for Mike, romantic for Pearl), and most of their actions it's not because of what they think it's right, but because it's what this beings think it is.

Apart from this, I see them both really elegant, perfectionists and serious-like warriors (Pearl isn't really that serious all the time, but in terms of fighting she is), and are damn great fans of ballet.

Oh! And they have the same pointy nose, in fact, that was what I first thought when I started reading Lil Lucifer AU.

Please, give Michael Pearl's character development. He might fall down to Hell because of that, but that white boy needs some ~🎶I wanna be disobedient🎶~ going through his ears instead of ~🎶Pressure like a tick tick tick🎶~

Gabriel: Father, I have a request.

God: What is it that you need my child?

Gabriel: An object of great important value to carry out my role and missions, My lord.

*10 minutes later*

Michael: A swivel chair. You asked for a swivel chair.

Gabriel: Shut it Mike, I'm concentrating. *Proceeds to spin for 2 more hours*

So. Turians.

Turians who can’t really smell anything through their small noses, so evolution made them scent things through their tongue.

Turians, who despite having spiky bits, sharp teeth and metal in their bodies are very very prone to developing an oral fixation - thanks evolution!

Turians, male Turians, who have a thing for women in charge. Not in a ‘weaker sex dominating me,’ but in a ‘she can kick my ass and step on me and I’d be totally okay with that!’

Turian, whom evolution gave sharp claws and even sharper minds, why tear someone down with their hand when they can do that with their tongue?

In more ways than one.

Turians, who, just like Humans, have to file their nails down.

Turians - and Quarians and Salarians - whom evolution gave 3 fingers, so they have a Math base 6, to the despair of everyone else.

Turians, with sharper eyesight than the rest of the galaxy using it to either scope a mark across the field or across the bar.

Turians, who are born and breed to hold civic duty and society above their own needs, who are aware that the two don’t always match, and it’s ok to admit o failure.

Turians, who can be selfish, giving, pampered, loyal, cruel, bloodthirsty, dismissive and loving, sexual deviants, all at the same time.

Turians, with subvocals and other tells that shout to everyone what they’re feeling, who take other species to be particularly deaf.

Turians who take advantage of other species’ deafness to gossip, to mutter sweet nothings to their deaf mates, to poke fun at others.

Turians, who most regard as 'disciplined’ and 'lacking a traitorous bone on their body’ and 'society above self’ being the unexpected and most accomplished con men.

Turians, who laughed at others when someone tried to 'introduce’ them to oral sex, as if they haven’t tried *that* before.

Turians, who would rather pay respect to their Spirits.

Turians, who will try dating a human just for the heck of it, just to say they did it, and end up so enamoured with their tone deaf, squishy human.

So, I’m really late to the party on this one...

Turns out, through all this time that I’ve been putting off my writing, because I was unable to properly envision my OC’s appearances in my head, I never knew about a little website by the name of picrew.me. It has changed the game...

What the hell, right? I just went on TikTok today and saw people posting with the available character creators and I felt like an idiot for two reasons:

Because I’m a writer, not an artist. I’m too impatient to sit for that long to draw out as many characters as I need to for my main original novels or the occasional fan fiction I write to test out new OC’s personalities.

Because I grew up playing “dress-up” games like every other member of my 2000’s baby generation (I’m 20) and I never for a moment thought of trying to find a program that might be able to do my art for me for free (not that I don’t support people going to freelance artists, I intend to seek one out for book covers soon, but I just lack the budget to get portraits done for the number of characters I have).

So, what the hell is wrong with me, right?

I’ve been wasting all of this time struggling with what I couldn’t see and now...? I’m writing more than ever and I’m not confused! It’s a huge weight off my shoulders and I finally intend to share a few of my creations to show off some of the different art styles offered by the selection of character customization programs...

My first example is Persephone from my latest endeavor into writing an X-Men story.

She’s a young mutant who was born into a Jewish family with the power to control and manipulate plant life. However, this ability didn’t develop until she turned ten and ran away from the hand of a violent father and straight into the care of a marooned alien. One we all know and love, Groot who crash landed on Earth (an event that will eventually lead him to Rocket in the years to come, but for now this moment is set before X-Men: Days of Future Past. Before Magneto’s speech is given on tv and life changes for mutants forever).

With the help of her mutation, she’s able to hide Groot’s true identity as an extraterrestrial. Claiming upon her arrival to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters that she made him by accident when her mutant-phobic father raised a bat in hand to kill the "abomination" he'd brought into the world. Not that it was entirely a lie, she could replenish and understand him through her abilities. And we all know how protective our beloved seven foot tall tree monster can be of small, mostly defenseless, screaming creatures.

As for the details of her abilities, they follow thusly:

Her canine teeth are elongated and incredibly strong along with the rest of her chompers as her mutation affects her metabolism and she needs to eat a large amount of heavy protein to maintain her strength, meaning beef, chicken, eggs, fish, etc. She identifies as a carnivore, because eating uncooked veggies can get a little awkward when she can hear the cherry tomatoes in her salad talking. Asking not to be eaten. As a result, she takes classes and puts herself in charge of planning meals/grocery shopping for the team. She’d rather die than eat unseasoned food.

Her hair grows like a weed and resembles the color to boot. Flowing in lengths of green, but it changes with the seasons. Going from lime green in the spring, to emerald in the summer, red, yellow and chestnut in the fall and in the winter...seasonal depression kicks in with a force to turn her flowing tresses black as potting soil. This however can be treated with her depression through the use of stimulants, mood stabilizers and a cubic butt-load of coffee, because just like pine trees, her internal biome loves acidic foods.

Though, because of its composition and advanced growth rate, she keeps her hair teased neatly into locs and can be often found preening herself whenever she’s not grooming every last sprout and bud in the Manor’s greenhouse where she lives with Groot to keep him company. And depending on her mood, her hair can sprout flowers based on whatever she’s feeling. Anger will sprout a crown of thorns, heartbreak grows anemones and intense love could cause whole bushels of forget-me-nots to bloom in their mesmerizing blues and violets.

And who do they bloom for? For the very first time after years of attending Xavier’s school? After being kidnapped by and defeating Apocalypse? Saving Warren/Angel’s life...? Why of course it would be one Mr. Kurt Wagner, fresh out of the circus who would take one look at her green hair with freckled, clay-colored and his blue features would go straight to purple after the fight in realizing that he wasn’t alone. There were other mutants out there in the world who looked different and Percy...? She was nothing short of her namesake. A true Spring goddess who melted the moment he wandered lost into her green house and wasn’t afraid of Groot. Even after the giant tree tossed the boy across the room like a rag doll, thinking he was attempting to sneak up on his little green-thumbed friend...

Needless to say, they would hit it off, despite a few trials given the disapproval of her new best friend, Warren who was still bitter about Kurt accidentally burning his wings during the cage fight. Though, with the new, fluffy white ones that Percy would help him grow with a special herbal brew...? After the X-Men agreed to take him in an hide him from his family...? He really had no right to complain...

And you never know...maybe one day because of them, a new generation of X-Men might come into the world...

I was able to come up with all of this story because of Picrew, so if you’re struggling like I often do, why not give it a try? It’s totally free and even fun if that’s your sorta thing. St. Michael and the dragon

While this took me a whole lot of time to finish, I am very pleased with the end result, both compositionally and in regard to the colour scheme.

The idea for the ornate, white armour in particular came from an illustration of St. Michael in the book of hours of Henry IV of France, which looks like this:

Also, fun-fact: my hometown celebrates an annual little festival, which as its centre piece features a moving mechanical figure of St. Michael slaying the devil, the colour-scheme of which I also referenced for this painting.

OKAY I lied AGAIN but it’s only because I ended up having to write shortened summaries for all the archangels anyways! So here’s a big post about all of them :>

okay brief summaries (I PROMISE THIS IS BRIEF THERES A LOT OF INFO 😰) of the archangels:

Michael- archangel of strength and bravery. He is usually considered the protector of heaven. He was the one who had to cast Lucifer out of heaven. (Uh which he kind of feels guilty for a lot because although Lucifer did a big no no and betrayed god all the angels are very close and consider eachother siblings. Lucifer, Raphael, Michael, and Gabriel in particular were very close.

Uriel - Angel of knowledge, very reserved he’s not mean but he prefers being alone. He runs the library in heaven and is the protector of all its knowledge including “forbidden knowledge”.

Raphael - Angel of healing super chill guy and super kind. He helps like heal injured angels and also meditates/prays a lot.

Ariel- she is the Angel of nature kind of acting as a Mother Nature type figure. She works with Raphael a lot and helps with taking care of sick or injured animals and angels and Vice versa.

Jophiel - Angel of that represents ‘the beauty of god’ they have the ability to shapeshift into any thing that was made by God. They also fight along side Michael and help train other angels.

Chamuel - archangel of love and relationship harmony though none of the angels can experience romantic relationships they understand human relationships better than the majority of angels. Like Gabriel they are also somewhat a messenger but for love and God’s love.

Azrael - the Angel of death, sort of acts like a grim reaper. She never technically “fell” but she is considered somewhat a fallen Angel. Though she is more neutral ground and usually stays in purgatory rather than heaven or hell. Though she visits heaven more so than hell (when not delivering souls)

Gabriel - Gabriel is the Angel of visions and God’s messages. He is the youngest out of the archangels and looks up to his siblings very much. He also sometimes gifted with visions of the future. He is goodnatured but maybe a bit naive, but rarely does he lack optimism.

Lucifer - Before he fell he was regarded as one of God’s most perfect angels. Considered the Angel of light or harbinger of God’s light. He was somewhat reserved like Uriel but he was also a little bit of a prankster. Lucifer strived for perfection at almost everything. But everything changed when God revealed his plan to create humanity. Lucifer saw this as a threat, as a sign God was replacing them. As such he decided to retaliate and sabotage the humans (the story of Adam and Eve) after when God found out he had Michael cast Lucifer out of heaven where he was banished from now. Blaming the humans, he now planned to wipe them out for good. There’s a lot more but that’s all I will put here for now or else we will be here all day. I will probably make another post going into more detail about Lucifer post-fall era later.
