The leaning giant, loosely based on an actual redwood from our mountain that I see almost everyday. The three bends in the upper part of the tree are actually caused by breakages it had in the past and healed over, so it gives the tree an almost snake like trunk. 3 1/2 months of carving.
Working on the layout for the next block, based on a Coho Salmon I once saw in our creek
Carving close to the sketched lines.

Entering the 5th month of carving and into the 6th
Not dormant, just 7 months deep into carving this block and the end is officially in sight as I start clearing the wood.

Carving a masterpiece, the Limpet Embrace, a story of intertidal love. Let me love you with my foot.

Working on the pencil layout for the next block.
The snake that makes me think of our watershed, Thamnophis sirtalis infernalis
Closer. Wip, the layout honestly takes me the longest and I'm messy, working at it until it's close to what I see in my head, the carving is like gliding down hill at this point.
