Just finished my trip to Scotland. What a scam.

You seem pretty set on yours, which would be fine, if you weren't dragging everybody else down with you. So, what's the ratio here? Cost and profit? I already know lives mean nothing to you - but in terms of, how much effort you've got to put into a guy who's just going to die anyway, how much is too much?

Hi, so, weird thought. Spoilers for TMA Season 5 underneath, by the way!

Not really sure how this thing works.

Anyways, episodes like… 198-200, when the gang are trying to figure out what to do about the Horrors and going through their options. Jon’s choice, I think, maybe made him into somewhat of an avatar of the End? He was very clearly rushing things toward it, and he treated it—like Oliver Banks—like it was inevitable.

And maybe he always was… well, not always, but after Oliver woke him up from his coma. Yes, he fully became an avatar of the Eye, and that’s why he didn’t die. But due to who/what was the catalyst for him making that choice, maybe a seed of the End was planted in him. A seed that would only grow as he caused, well, the end of the world and then brought about the End of multiple Avatars.

I don’t know, it seemed like an interesting thought. Also Monster!Jon with skulls holding his many many eyes. That is all.

remember episode 10? with whatever the hell [ERROR] is exiting the Institute?

and also how we’re pretty sure it’s Jon/the Eye/etc. watching and recording everything through electronics?

well throughout season 5, i remember Jon saying that the Eye can’t “see into itself,” which is why he can’t see the Panopticon.

now maybe, JUUUUST maybe, [ERROR] is whoever/whatever became the Eye’s pupil/special-est boy in the tmagp universe. which is why we don’t know who or what they are

also, i have a thought on who would be the one able to “steal” powers! i am not sure if you’ve made a power for her yet, but Basira fits the power-stealing vibe imo

Reasoning (and Tma season 5 spoilers) under the cut

So Basira is kinda weird with Avatar stuff. She isn’t an Avatar, as far as we know, but she can throw hands with the Dread Powers for sure. So, that’s one mark for “no power of her own but can mess with those who have powers”

And the larger reason is what she does in season 5 after she kills Daisy. She takes/inherits/*steals* Daisy’s ability to meander through domains. You see where I’m going?

Also, this is a very small thing but i think it still contributes. When she first joins the Institute, she goes on this huge reading spree—taking in all the knowledge she can from the place she didn’t want to be in before, but now sort of had to be.

Now let's talk about Georgie in the superheroes AU! And wtgfs, and jongeorgie. Strap on!

I was just thinking, since I like her a lot and and her whole shtick in canon is to not feel fear (=not be influenced at all by them) but mostly that I like her a lot and I want her to have nice things, why not give her the ability to temprorarily erase other's powers? Like... Well let's not lie there are literally SO many people with that set of powers in media. Rogue, Alexia Tarabotti, Leech the mutant, Eraserhead, Amon, Number Seven,... Buncha cool people basically.

So, extremely powerful. But since she's Georgie... She doesn't want anything to do with that superhero business. Not at all. Nope. Categorically not. Forever civilian. That also means that while she has one of the strongest powers, she is entirely untrained in hand-to-hand combat and is actually kinda weak against anyone/villain/supe who doesn't rely overly on their powers or has like. A weapon.

Also the irony that the only person that might have a shot at taking down Dr. Magnus/The Watchman, the only person he fears (probably) has dated both of his ex-teammates is... not lost on me. I think it's kinda funny! So is the fact Georgie could take him down if she wanted but doesn't because she doesn't want to get involved, period.

Since she won't be doing much actual fighting, I dare think I'm allowed to give her very few drawbacks to her powers. So like, there will be someone else in the AU who can "steal" powers with a touch, I think (this really is one of my fav powers to give out, uh) (suggestions?) but for Georgie it's just. Area effect. She activates it and suddenly everyone in a certain distance of her can't do shit no more. It does tire her though. I'm thinking if she trained she could expand her "area of effect", control the distance she wants better, and work it for longer? But she's not interested in any of that. So!

Or maybe it's only one person at a time. Mmmh. But I also don't really need to give her limitations, so. We'll see, depending on what the plot requires when I actually get around to thinking about that particular can of worms.

Nowadays, she is dating Melanie, obviously. There's a certain poetry in knowing your partner is the only one that makes you vulnerable, the only one who could kill you if you asked. I think Melanie equal parts fears and respects her for it. It's a bit of danger in her life that she loves because adrenaline junkie but also she doesn't wholly trust Georgie even though she has no reason not to. It's... She's got complex feelings about this, man.

She used to be dating Jon, which went about the same as in canon I suppose. There's an added layer there though, with Georgie being the only one capable of giving Jon a reprieve, of sorts, from feeling/being harrassed by all the emotions of people around him. Did I say already that's something he struggles with a lot? He really does. He's having a terrible time. Puppy just wants a break from it all. And Georgie could give him that! And quite happily too. Although not all the time. Jon used to feel quite awful about it though, like he was using her for her powers. He questionned more than once if he was only with her because of what she could do for him. He wasn't, he truly loved her, but yknow. Jon's gonna Jon.

Georgie has complex feelings about her powers not being treated as a curse that removes people's abilities for once but instead a blessing with Jon. She has complex feelings about making Melanie human, about holding so much power over her life. Yadda yadda yadda, I'm sure you can imagine what all those feelings are.

okay so i haven't seen it but from what i know about gravity falls bill cipher is just jonah magnus if he was a bit more open about his intentions to end the world. like cmon bill ciphers song 'it's gonna get weird' is LITERALLY the most jonah magnus song i've ever heard. or am i just sleep deprived

been thinking about what a successful ritual would look like for the other fears, if they figured out things like Jonah and the Eye did. like… Eyepocalypse but with different fears “in charge” of it.

somewhat obvious, but spoilers for tma season 5 below the cut

The Web… well, the Web was technically in charge of the Eyepocalypse. but i think if the Web was the “primary fear,” things would be a little more muted in terms of domains and everybody’s fears. it would focus a lot on choice, and how every choice made just drags you closer and closer to the thing you’re dreading and fearing with your whole being.

The Spiral would change the world the least, I think. All of the fears and domain shenanigans would happen during sleep, and in brief, flickering visions. The constant questioning of whether something horrible has happened and the inability to determine whether normalcy or horror is reality would feed the Spiral nicely.

The Dark wouldn’t be super great at being in charge, i feel. Some of the fears are fed much better through sight, and the Dark would want none of that. i think it would be rather similar to the Eye’s, with its domains and such… just, someone turned out the lights, and they will never turn back on.

The Lonely is one of my favourites to think about. No domains with the lonely, no no. Every person is trapped in their own, personal nightmare. The fears are all deeply personal, striking the most primal chords of terror while being utterly unrelatable with any other person’s experience.

The End would be what Jon tried to do in episode 200. Quite like the Eyepocalypse, but you can and will die. There are no repeated deaths or loops of endless fear. Once you die, that’s it.

The Stranger would be… well, strange. I think it would be sort of like the Eye’s, with domains filled with other people experiencing the same thing. But I think it would also shuffle people around after every “death,” every time a fear gets its fill from one person. Different bodies, different names, different fears. A carousel of spinning, whirling, changing terror.

The Vast would be very much like the Eye, I think. Just everything is impossibly big. The domains? Bigger. The sources of fear? Bigger. The amount of people being harvested for fear? So much bigger. The sheer scale of the operation is impressed upon those being harvested at all times, the fact that they are only a single drop of blood in the impossibly huge waterfall of dread.

The Slaughter would make things more visceral. Fear would mix with anger freely. Tensions between fellow sufferers would run high, and there might even be a brief reprieve from the dread awaiting through violence. It might even be possible to do violence unto the entities presiding over each domain—though that would allow them to do the same back to you.

The Flesh would make the process of fear being extracted feel like being devoured. A gnawing on your brain and in the deepest pit of your gut that never ends. Also, hunger would still exist. No need to eat, but forever hungry.

The Desolation would make everything more painful. A small stub of a toe would escalate into a screaming, burning agony throughout the body. Additionally, there would be a constant awareness of what everyone you care about is going through. How gruesomely they die again and again and again.

The Hunt would give you the option to flee. Constant fight or flight, but flight is really your only option. It won’t succeed. You’ll never escape. But the fear of being chased will pervade every other fear, and that’s enough.

The Buried would not let you see the sky. Every domain is small and shrivelled, built specifically to oppress you and give the fear coming for you a sense of crushing, choking weight. It would be far harder to breathe—simultaneously underground and in the sort of atmosphere found on the peaks of the highest mountains.

The Corruption is selfish, I think. The bugs and the rot and the cloying, putrid love of that which wants to consume you would spread everywhere. There is so much filth, so much disease that you cannot die from. You must fear that as you fear the things truly meant to terrify you. Give the Corruption its due while being harvested by the others.

The Extinction is probably somewhere between the End and the Web, in terms of how things would go. It is your choices that bring the terror upon you, your ambitions and your greed. And the consequences of your actions snuff out your very existence. One incandescent burst of terror before your lights dim forever

should i be concerned that Martin’s domain in the apocalypse sounds… so nice? it’s so peaceful and gentle and obviously it’s scary but in a very… soft?? way??

it’s hard to describe, i just know if nap so hard there.
