Union Pacific’s 4014!
I’ve recently had the most absolute pleasure of getting to see UP’s Big Boy steam engine in person! Well, one of them anyways! There was a display event in the city I live in, and I couldn’t miss this chance tbh.
I can gladly say that this event marks a special place in my heart. As someone who enjoys the history of locomotives and railways, I’d say seeing something like this is very close to me.
According to what the crew team have told a crowd of people (myself included), this is the last Big Boy in service today. So glad that he’s been restored and now running the rails again. 🖤🖤🖤

Friends on Discord were giving out ideas of humanizations of real life engines, so I decided to try it out with Pere, the Polar Express! One of my favorite designs I’ve done, I’ll admit. I love her. 🤍
Back once again with, more train OC’s!
This time, featuring the Union Pacific Big Boy fleet! Currently in present day, these guys are the remainders of the existing engine class. They were so much fun to design, and I can’t wait to get some reference sheets out for them!
I’ve done my best to show a sprinkle of their own personalities in their expressions and show how I interpret them individually. Hope you enjoy these sketches.
Sorry I've been busy recently! But I did manage to design this OC girlie:
Lucy (the Metropolitan Engine)
She's the result of a team effot by Gresley and H. G. Ivatt to create an improved version of the LNER K3, who would eventually lead Gresley to develop the LNER K4. After completion, she was kept by Ivatt to work on the LMS railway with her crimson coat before eventually ending up on Sodor to stay.
She can come off as a bit snooty from the outside, but is a kind and hardworking engine who tries to befriend others. She doesn't care much for competing against others or trying to bargain off unpleasant jobs, but gets overly emotional if another engine is mean to her.
I want to do some more technical drawings at some point, so I'll add more info about her then!
Thomas the tank engine humanized
I’ll do you one better.
Sparkling Water
I wonder if filling an engine up on thick water instead of regular water would have any affect on them

thinking abt how fucked up steam engine boiler explosions can look. theyre just pipes under there
gives me the idea of a ghost/monster engine that looks normal, albeit a bit battered, only to swing their smokebox door open and a myriad of pipes come bursting out like fucked up tentacles

Mr. Roque, it's time to pay up...

Poor man's poison- I am the righteous hand of god. This song strongly associates with him.
I guess we can call it an AU? Or just an interpretation what would Partitio do, if he would learn another lesson during his story. Killing Roque would be more logical, cause in reality you can't just change a capitalist (in our capitalistic society), so i was really intrigued by how the story will unfold, especially after the fact that he almost starved my boy's city to death.
Also i think it's very dumb that they created a western part of the continent and clearly a western character and DIDN'T GIVE HIM A GUN. HELLO??? Hikari gets his own little Japan, katanas and samurai's stuff and Partitio gets a bow while fighting against a train with a steam-engine. Change an icon for him at least.
Anyways, i might do series, but im not sure.
Why is Peter Sam’s face Nicolas Cage? 😳
SO to anyone who was wondering why I’ve been gone for a while, I’ve been working really hard and saved up enough to go on vacation to Tywyn in Wales to visit a certain little railway :)
Pt. 1
These were taken on the Talyllyn a day before they dressed up the locos in their Skarloey liveries for the Awdry event!
I got to meet lots of other railfans, including several youtubers!

@brick-boats I bet you heard something similar being said about most engines.

Taken at Woburn Waterworks in Massachusetts last year when I went to help out for a weekend and run the steam engine. More to come.
The Engine of Woburn Waterworks
She was built and installed in 1908. The engine pumped water to the city of Woburn until 1932 when it was laid up in favor of a series of small electric pumps located around Horn Pond. At some point, the engine was named Louise by the chief engineer. During World War II, the chief and all the waterworks staff turned the engine into a very closely guarded secret so as to save it from the scrap drives.
It sat dormant until 2018 when it was restored and steamed, and it steamed again in 2023 for three weekends in May. The site is an active waterworks to this day, but this part has been turned into a museum.
