Eeeee! It's finally here!

Sammy was working on an earlier version of this comic while we were at university together and I got to see a lot of the development work, so I can confidently state that it's going to be REALLY GOOD and you should all be VERY EXCITED.

Hello!

Hello!

So encase I wasn’t clear on tumblr at the time, 4 weeks ago I fell off my bike and landed on my face (stylish). I fractured my jaw, chipped a tooth and cut open my lip and chin. I’ve been healing fine apart from some complications in my lip. They found shards of my tooth inside my lip which caused an infection and give me a high chance of more infections. The doctors are waiting to see what my skin does to decide what action to take. I’m trying not to let the accident push back my comic plans.

If the next month goes smoothly for my health I’m planning to launch a new webcomic on Friday 31st January 2014. It will start with a 7 page upload and then update with 3 pages every Friday until the chapter is all online. (there will probably be breaks between chapters)

If you would like to be reminded or updated about the launch date I have …

Here's a handy list of all the events Sammy and I will be going to! Inspired Comics don't have a collective table any more, but Sammy and I still share one at most events.

During Witch Week our pal Gem drew a picture of all our witches hanging out together, because we'll be seeing her too at London MCM!

Yussss you can now read my pal Sammy's webcomic in TWO places! It's a new chapter, the perfect time to start reading!

As Well As Reading The Webcomic Through The Smack Jeeves Website - You Can Now Follow Giant Rhinos In

As well as reading the webcomic through the Smack Jeeves website - You can now follow Giant Rhinos In Space on Ink Blazers (formerly Manga Magazine). At the moment I’m updating with 6 new pages every Friday to catch up with when Chapter 2 is scheduled to go online.

Chapter 2 will return on Friday 2nd May 2014 with the first 5 pages

The webcomic will then update with 3 new pages at 12noon* every Friday!

*As far as I know Ink Blazers does not have a way to schedule update times so updates are likely to be out of sync but probably within a couple of hours and by no more than a day.

Thank you to everyone we saw at Manchester MCM Comic Con! It was a really great event. The stormy weather meant it was a soggy convention, but that didn’t seem to get in the way of the fun!

Most items in the photos are available to order from my Etsy shop or Sarah’s Etsy shop. (and the Adventure Time/Attack On Titan poster on the far right is by our table neighbour Ryuuza)

The next event we’re attending is Comica Comiket at The British Library on Saturday 16th August!

This Is Not A Serious Music Publication Autumn 2014 is now printed and ready to launch along with the latest issue of whatsthetimemrswoolf at Bristol Comic & Zine Fair this Saturday! I’ll be sharing a half table with sarahfogg and we will be bringing FREE MINI COMICS & ZINES to hand out to anyone interested. :) See you there!

https://www.etsy.com/shop/sammyborras £3 Shipping: £1.50 International Shipping: £7 Articles, illustrations and comics featuring Baby Metal, Damon Albarn, Gorillaz, Pixies, Bat For Lashes, Franz Ferdinand, Courtney Barnett, Honeyblood, Glass Animals, Dizraeli, Animal Collective, Roadidendren, Haim, We Are Scientists, Cecile Corbel, Adventure Time and Regular Show. "It probably seems silly to be printing a music zine at a time when music blogs are becoming a popular alternative. You can listen to the music at the same time as reading the articles and news updates are instant. We realised we don’t have the time to keep up with it all, so last year, instead of trying, we decided to create a music zine together, where we could write about the music that makes us happy! We had so much fun making the first one that we decided to make more whenever we have enough material to fill a new issue. We’ve filled this issue with music themed comics, gig sketches, articles and illustrations. We hope you enjoyed reading it as much as we enjoyed writing it!" I forgot to photograph any of these before posting them, so I’m glad Sammy took pictures! Poppet thinks Nisse is a Tomtenisse and Lis is probably a Domovoi. Here in the south we have Lob-Lie-By-The-Fire, which is nowhere near as cute as Poppet, but just as helpful.

Just casually assume everyone is as obsessively well-informed about Gorillaz as we are. XD

Last summer I kept asking sarahfogg if Poppet (WTTMW?) and Nisse (Hilda series) and Lis (Seconds) were all the same kind of house fairy thing, so Poppet made me a chapbook explaining a bunch of different types of house fairy from all over Europe. It’s super cute, Poppet is the cutest. (the book is mini comic size, like A7?) (here in the midlands we have House Hobs - just like Poppet! :D)

The bottom photo is of a hand made notebook, with a quote from Bananaz …. I realised we filled last years music zine with Bananaz quotes but then never explained where they were actually from. X’D

Photos from London MCM! I am hiding behind a comic by Tom Siddell.

This year’s event had some changes that caused a lot of arguments online, so I’m still dithering about whether I should say anything about how I thought it went. Does anyone have a backbone I can borrow?

A big thank you to everyone who bought stuff at London MCM Comic Con! Sarah and I had fun behind the table chatting to people who came by and inventing our own gang name and secret hand shake.

We are hoping to exhibit at the event again in October - but no promises since there’s a lot of competition for table space!

My next event without Sarah will be Manchester MCM Comic Con, you’ll be able to find me in the Comic Village - for a detailed and up to date list of events see the sidebar of my portfolio blog.

If you can’t get to these events we also have Etsy shops:

Thanks again!

Sammy And I Did An Inking Swap At A Caf Today! I Drew Visuk For Sammy To Ink, Then She Copied My Picture

Sammy and I did an inking swap at a café today! I drew Visuk for Sammy to ink, then she copied my picture in her style for me to ink. I think she drew his hair better than me, which is kind of embarrassing. Next time we’ll do it the other way round with one of her characters.

“In mine he actually looks like he’s scratching his neck and thinking, instead of like an underwear model.” - Sammy Borras, supposedly my friend.

Sammy filmed me inking her sketch and made a lovely time-lapse! If you’re interested in how I do my ‘ink and water’ pictures, this is it! Materials: Sketch (by Sammy): 2H pencil on bristol board Inks (by me): Rotring art pen, Pentel water brush pens.

Incidentally I’ve got normal, cheap, water-soluble black ink cartridges in the pen, the kind you can get in packs of 100 from any old stationer’s shop. I’m so happy Rotring pens take standard-size cartridges!

Since @sarahfogg Moved To Birmingham Weve Been Meeting Up Regularly For Inking Club To Start With We

Since @sarahfogg moved to Birmingham we’ve been meeting up regularly for ‘inking club’ … to start with we were working on our own comics/illustration projects, but we realised last week it would be fun to do some swaps. So this is my pencils, with Sarah’s inks :)
