A new bug
Credit shared with my sister for spotting it
Do you ever see something and just go, “Damn, that’s really neat” for no discernible reason?
So anyway, here’s this bug
July 29th, 2021
About a month ago, I had a big praying mantis hyperfixation (and still kinda do, to be honest). I wanted to make some mantis content, but I didn’t feel like drawing one, and it would take to long to 3D model a realistic one. So I thought, “Screw it, praying Minetis.” I figured trying to model something original in Minecraft style as authentically as possible could be fun, and it was! :D
I love mantises and their funny little intimidation dances <3
Total work time was 16 hours and 46 minutes. Modeled, rigged, animated, and rendered in Blender, textured in Clip Studio Paint. Grass block texture created by Mojang.
She lives in my garden. What should I name her?
Art dump
[yes i know i said I wouldn't draw anything else for December. that was a lie but i got a good week in there didn't I]
Your blog name makes me want to see Mic dressed up as a honeybee. Yellow and black, his best colors! Or an insect AU...Aizawa is definitely a moth. Mic is a bee obviously. Oboro is a caterpillar (but turns into a beautiful, almost misty, purple butterfly). Midnight is a black widow or praying mantis for obvious reasons. All Might is a very friendly duck that protects his bug friends, along with his adopted duckling, an actual alligator named Izuku (he thinks he's a normal duck). Froppy is the biologist studying these interesting animals.
You're in denial; Mic would be a wasp.
This is a little less art-related than usual, but I wanted to share this praying mantis that's been in my garden these last few days. They hitched a ride on some celery, and upon my mom discovering them I decided to take them out to the garden.
To my surprise, they stuck around! The mantis has been living in the parsley and jumpscared my brother tonight while he was collecting some for dinner. I heard the commotion from my bedroom window and came down to get the mantis off him. They were much calmer with me tonight than they were on the first day, so I think I can say I've made a friend ^v^
(P.s, I looked it up and the specific species of praying mantis is Orthodera Novaezealandiae)

Curious Praying Mantis.
I spotted this curious guy (or girl) on a concrete ledge near a set of staircases on the Biltmore Estate. I had a polarizing filter on the lens I was using that day that turned the front element of the lens into a big mirror. As I got into position about four feet away to photograph the mantis, I noticed that I perked his interest. At that distance, he could see himself in the polarizer and started moving quickly toward me. This was the best case scenario as I could snap away, keep him in focus, and get some cool macro shots. I felt bad for the guy though as his instinct was telling him that he found a mate. Regardless of the letdown, he got a great portrait of himself.
ms paint cicada, trilobite beetle, and mantis <3
Lil Mantis lady sketch
Her name is Diane and she keeps trying to eat her boyfriend but fails every time somehow
*Insert “I Wanna be Tracer” here*. Mainly some sticker remakes and such. From left to right: Sushi Tacroach, Banana Split Tacroach, Sweepoof, Cheesecake Incherrito, Preying Escantis (Made up of Creamy Tacroach, Sweepoof and Cheesecake Incherrito. Also the name derives from the Spanish word for Frosty, being “Escarchada”/“Escarchado”. I mean I think it is lmao), Starfly, and Cranegosteen.
Both Starfly and Cranegosteen utterly despise each other btw, and they’re both based off of Crane flies, which can’t fly too well.
