Before I could say anything, the secretary looked up from a phone call. She practically beamed with delight. “Oh, Mr. Jackson! I’m talking to your father right now. He explained that you would be late.”

I blinked. “He did?”

She put her hand over the receiver. “What a lovely man! Here, you can tell him you arrived safely while I write you a pass to third period. We’ve already rescheduled your first-period quiz. Not to worry!”

She handed me the phone and floated back to her desk, humming a cheerful tune. I stared at the receiver. Had Paul called the school? That didn’t make sense. He wouldn’t even know I was running late, and he was careful never to misrepresent himself as my father. But who else...? Surely not...?

“Hello?” I said.

“Congratulations,” said Poseidon. “That was nicely done with the chalice.”

I braced myself against the counter to keep from falling over.

Sally Jackson deserves an exceptionally hot husband, and Ryan and Walker have such great chemistry in The Adam Project that I just want to watch them work together again. You don’t have to agree with me, but hear me out: What if they cast— hear me out— Pedro Pascal as Paul Blofiss. Because let’s be honest the absolute dad energy that radiates from that man is immense, and I think Walker’s Percy deserves to have someone that talented play Paul.

Paul Blofis would absolutely throw hands with Fredrick Chase after finding out how he treated Annabeth and you cannot convince me otherwise.

Headcanon that Poseidon drops in for special occasions and Estelle starts calling him dad because Percy calls him dad and Percy's her brother. She doesn't understand that Paul is her only dad, she thinks her and Percy have two dads and a mom and thinks nothing of it.

When she gets older and realizes that that her and Percy share a mom and have different dads she disregards it and continues to call Poseidon and Paul her father's.

Poseidon Loki thinks it's super adorable how she runs and hugs his legs whenever he visits until she's 9 and can actually reach around his torso.

Some of the other gods side eye him because they think that Estelle could possibly be half his, half Paul's, half Sally. She doesn't smell like a demigod but Poseidon did bless her.

Percy started signing at the age of 7

It was his idea, after this kid at his school was being followed by this woman who spoke with her hands to the boy every time the teacher spoke. Percy thought it was so weird and he asked the boy why he couldn’t talk

The lady was really nice to him about it, too. She told him the boy couldn’t hear and that this was his way of talking, even if he was in what he called a ‘hearing school’ 

Percy fell in love with the language instantly. He befriended the boy and the lady, and because of that everyone made fun of him for being around 'that weird kid’

By the end of the semester, Percy was able to talk to Jacob, the deaf kid, without having to used Amanda, the translator

When he went home for winter break, he eagerly showed Sally the new language he learned. Sally couldn’t believe Percy picked up on something like that so quickly, learning so much in only a few short months

Percy insisted that they learn, because 'Then Smelly Gabe doesn’t have to yell at us for being too loud.’

He taught her whenever he had the chance, which was those rare times they went grocery shopping or out buying new uniforms because Percy was afraid Gabe would pick up on this beautiful language

When Percy went back to ​school, he found out his deaf friend had to move. Heartbroken (platonically speaking) and alone, Percy’s grades stopped getting better and he went mute for the rest of the schon year, refusing to do schoolwork or activities. He buried himself into ASL, learning as much as he could before Sally got a letter shortly after April testing stating that Percy was not welcome back for the next grading cycle

As he got older, he used ASL more than ever. He went back to talking, but sometimes he found himself accidentally signing as he spoke. It started off subtlety, only being words like 'my mother’, 'wind’, 'let’s go’, and 'no/yes’

Sometimes he’ll forget he’s not deaf, or that “normal kids” don’t sign, and he’ll switch into ASL in an argument

Kids teased him for it

He won’t admit it out loud, but that was why he fired that cannon at that Revolutionary war memorial

He forced himself to stop signing when he went to Yancy. He couldn’t look his mom in the eyes for a week when she found out that those kids, the ones who teased him for learning the deaf language, were why he blew up a bus.

Grover met Percy and befriended him, not once learning of his hidden language ability

Percy secretly likes no one knowing about it. It felt kind of like a secret language a spy would use when she couldn’t talk to her partner

As he grew into his demigod life, he found ways to prevent the unintentional signing - spinning Riptide in his fingers, running a hand through his hair, crossing his arms, or simply tucking his hands into his pockets

When Gabe died, Sally and Percy stopped signing to each other. After all, they didn’t need to be secretive, right?

When Paul came around, Percy’s signing defense reactivated. He talked to his mom with his hands again, which had shocked the teacher

Sally reassured Percy that there was no way Paul would be like Gabe. Gabe was being used for his scent; Paul was here because he was sweet and kind and loving

Paul couldn’t understand a word of their conversation, and when he asked Sally what happened, she told him that ASL was Percy’s “escape” language

Percy was shocked when Paul asked him to learn. It proved to be very great bonding time between the 2 of them

Then Hera kidnapped Percy and wiped his memories

While he trained with Lupa, he found himself weaving strange hand gestures into his speech. He couldn’t understand how he knew what this one hand gesture meant, or how to say a certain phrase without having to talk, but he thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Something inside him told himself to keep the hand signals to himself, like a gut feeling

Lupa was always telling Percy to follow his gut

So he stopped signing, focusing on improving his battle movements

Sometimes, on the Argo 2, he would stand in front​ of the mirror and sign to himself

Once again, he hid his favourite language from his friends. This was his and his mom’s language, their special way of talking

No one was allowed to know it unless they had to

Not even his own father knew that Percy and Sally were ASL speakers

The quests fly by, Percy making a point to communicate with his mouth and not his hands

At the end of Saving The World Part Two™, the first thing he did was go see his mom and sign to her

Beautiful with an S is the name his friend Jacob gave her when Percy showed him a picture. That name was the first thing hr signed when he saw his mother again

The squeal Paul heard from the kitchen indicated that Sally had signed “I’m pregnant”

(Which, guys, totally happened to be all Percy’s fault. Don’t believe me? It took a month of travel to get to Rome. Apollo went MIA for 6 months, which means TOA took place 7 months after SON. Sally is seven months pregnant in The Hidden Oracle…)

Percy settled back down into his normal oral-only speech rule he made for himself

Then Annabeth called him and said that he needed to meet her in Boston

Percy packed up stuff and drove himself to Boston via Blackjack & Chariot taxi services

There he met Magnus, Blitzen, Sam, and Hearthstone

Annabeth cheerily introduced Percy to her 'mortal-not-so-mortal’ cousin

Magnus and Percy discussed stuff for a while before Hearthstone signed that he couldn’t understand what Percy was saying because his mouth formed words differently

Without meaning to, Percy instantly started signing an apology, explaining that New York City accents did that

And Annabeth nearly flipped the table

“What do you mean you’ve been signing since you were 7?!”

Percy was stuck trying to explain to Annabeth that him knowing another language like that was no big deal

But to Percy, ASL was a huge deal. It was his favourite and his secret language.

Annabeth was just mad that such an important piece of information about Percy was never brought to her attention

Norse demigods meet Greek demigods

Ok look so everyone is talking about a meeting between Alex and Nico...but what I’m waiting for is a meeting between Alex and Frank. One is a free spirited rebel shapeshifter whereas the other is a careful little (but actually super tall and buff) cinnamon roll shapeshifter. I wanna see the contrast between the way they act but also the connection they have with each other since they are the only shapeshifters there.

headcannon that after percy gets home and all that from being missing the first several months of him being home was everyone acting like he’s a small child who might get lost if he isn’t wearing one of those monkey backpacks with a leash as a tail

i know annabeth stopped letting him walk her to her cabin she now walks him to his cabin and watches him close the door then stands there for 5 minutes before calling goodnight to his window and if he doesn’t answer she breaks the door down to verify he is infact still in there

sally walks into him room at night just to check if he’s still in his bed tbh the first month i know sally was practically rocking him to sleep just so she knew he was home and safe

when he’s not at camp he’s at home if he’s not at home he’s at camp and if he’s not at either of those he’s got a buddy with him

i know every so often he starts feeling a bubble of anxiety in his chest and he has to force an extremely strong feeling of safety and conger up a mental image of exactly where he’s at just to calm down grover who he just saw 8 hours ago

it probably stresses sally and paul out when he’s in his room for too long and they don’t hear him walking around like he goes upstairs to do his homework and once he’s sat at his desk for over an hour he’s got some knocking at his door and it’s paul “just checking in”

i know everytime he walks into a cabin or the big house or even home everyone greets him like it’s the first time they’ve talked to him in years like they’re trying to positively reinforce the fact that he’s safe and home

i know paul starts getting a little anxious when he doesn’t see him around for a certain amount of time too like he misses percy leaving for the day so paul pokes his head into percy’s room to see it empty then goes downstairs to see only sally and has to force a flat voice as he’s like “lol so have you seen percy recently or…” as his hearts beating in his throat

like percy disappearing has def given everyone ptsd and anytime he’s gone for what feels like even slightly too long they start to panic a little

he stops at a grocery store after he leaves school and ducks into an alley to iris message annabeth just to let her know he’s gonna run late 20 min later he’s trying to debate what flavor ice cream he should get when an employee is tapping him on the shoulder bc there’s someone on the line for him and it’s annabeth who’s hacked into the security cameras telling him to get chocolate

she got 2 birds with 1 stone now he has to leave and come home (bc monsters) and she also gets her fav flavor

Percy Cooking Headcanons

When Percy first starts high school, and subsequently had more assignments to do, he becomes frustrated with himself because of how difficult he finds some assignments to complete. One afternoon before he's supposed to turn in an assignment, Sally sees that he's both physically and mentally exhausted from the stress he's putting on himself to complete it, so she drags him away from the task and into the kitchen and teaches him how to properly cook a meal.

He starts to cook dinner once a week - sometimes with the aid of Sally, but mostly on his own.

He teaches himself how to cook every meal from every cookbook they own

Sally begins to notice when Percy's the most stressed as he'll cook a simpler dish as sometimes new things stress him out more. Most of the time this dish is the first one she taught him how to cook.

He develops a phase in which he'll make dishes for a different cuisine each week.

He always cooked whenever Annabeth would come over.

The first time he met Paul, he cooked his and Sally's favourite Greek meal.

When Paul becomes a settled member of their family, he teaches Percy his own favourite childhood/comfort meals, and Percy teaches Paul how to make Greek food.

When Paul moved in, he brought his vast record collection. Percy then started to cook while blasting music - his favourite records that Paul owned being Rumours by Fleetwood Mac and Elephant by The White Stripes.

Whenever he had time, Percy would cook while on the Argo II. Sometimes Annabeth would assist, sometimes she'd just sit and watch.

One night after Tartarus, Percy is awoken by a nightmare and goes to cook a batch of blue cookies. Leo, who was also awake, goes to the kitchen and fixes up two mugs of hot chocolate for him and Percy. They sit there, eating cookies and drinking cocoa for hours just talking about their moms and their powers and their fears and anything and everything.

When Percy would babysit Estelle, he'd make cookies and she'd sit and watch and sometimes he'd accidently spill something and Estelle would just laugh and clap her hands.

Annabeth sets up her own architecture firm in New York City, and after they have children, Percy becomes a stay at home Dad and experiments how many vegetables he can hide in his children's food.

When their kids become older, he teaches them how to cook.
