Think about it: Husk becoming interested in this mysterious fellow Overlord and Alastor coming to enjoy Husk’s company, but his concept of affection is skewed. Alastor only understands want and power.
He’s been around longer than Husk, but there’s a respect and camaraderie there for The Gambling Demon who listens to jazz and holds himself to a similar standard. So when other older Overlords disrespect Husk? They start going missing. Alastor gains power while working his way closer to Husk. Eventually though, it’s not enough. He wants control over the man who’s made him do what few (if anyone) have before: care.
So when Husk falls on hard times, Alastor is there to swoop in and take what he wants. Alastor may have damaged their relationship in the process, but he’d rather be hated than lose Husk entirely. At least then Husk is feeling for him.}}

My hc on why Mimzy makes fun of Husk for being owned by Alastor cause she sees it as karma, and she'll gladly put him down for it. Husk knows that Mimzy is trouble cause she brought Alastor to gamble with him so she could get out her deal with him. I think this would be one reason Alastor took up the offer to gamble with the overlord not only to help her but to also have a reason to make a deal with Husk. This isn't to ship them just to be clear 😬
