Mottled Stripes - Tumblr Posts
This tail has a lot of stuff going on. It used 6 different types and sizes of metal claw spike down the spine, with a big increase and decrease in size towards the middle. It also has a diamond-shaped spade tip that attaches to the tip, made of leather and painted gold.
Newly completed scale dragon tail with mottled red stripes on a black background, plus a full line of spikes down the spine. The last photo I really liked because it showed off the swinging motion of the tail so well.
I also just finished writing up my tail ordering guide and posting it on this blog. If you're interested, check it out: http://armoreddragon.tumblr.com/tails
Here's the most recent tail commission I completed. Brown (anodized aluminum) background with black (anodized aluminum) mottled stripes, and standard silvery aluminum on the underside. It measures 32 inches long, and has a lobster clasp at the tip for attaching things to.
I decided to take some progress photos of this as I was building it, so I have a nice sequence that I'll be uploading soon. It won't be a full tutorial, but maybe it'll be some help for people who keep asking me for instructions.

I got this tail done quickly before leaving for Thanksgiving. It's made of anodized aluminum scales linked with stainless steel rings.

Black and red dragon tail. The red is in a pattern of irregular mottled stripes coming out from the center. The stripes are confined to the spine area, so the underbelly is left plain black.
Made of anodized aluminum scales woven together with stainless steel rings. You can find information about these tails over on this page here.
Do you want to be an eighteen-foot-tall, literal five-headed dragon?!?
Don’t we all?
Anyway. This dragon tail has mottled green stripes over black anodized aluminum.
Red and black dragon tail! I powered through this commission while visiting family earlier in the week. It’s made of red and black anodized aluminum with a mottled stripes pattern. It measures in at 34 inches from the tip to the top of the belt loops, and weighs precisely 3 pounds. Modeled by a friend who has Very Good Wiggles.
I think this is like the 3rd or 4th tail I’ve made with this same color scheme and pattern? I assume it’s because an earlier version one of the tails I link to as an example on my info page.
On to the next commission!
