"Gilded Choices: The Reaping of Stars" is finally out!!!
The "Hunger Games" x "The Rings of Power" fic is out today!!!
" The bells of the district tolled across Eregion, their deep, haunting chime reverberating off the mountains like the final echoes of a forgotten song. Galadriel stood at the edge of the stone balcony, gazing down upon the swelling crowd in the square of Ost-in-Edhil. The crisp mountain air bit at her exposed skin, wrapping her in its cold embrace, but the wind did little to cool the fire that flickered in her chest, the ever-growing storm of dread. Her silver-blonde hair danced with the wind, strands whipping against her face, but she did not brush them away. Her sharp, blue-grey eyes were fixed on the scene unfolding below. It was Reaping Day, the day when names would be called, and lives would be irrevocably changed. For centuries, she had watched from this very spot as the Games claimed tribute after tribute, taking away loved ones, warriors, and artisans alike. This day had never passed without a sense of foreboding, but now, the feeling gnawed at her insides in a way it never had before. Today, her own name lay in the pool, awaiting its turn to be drawn. Eregion, District Four, was known across the land for its unrivaled craftsmanship. Artisans, blacksmiths, architects— the people of Eregion shaped the world in ways only the finest hands could. The fires of their forges burned day and night, and the creations that emerged were nothing short of wonders. The graceful arches and intricate designs of their buildings were the envy of the other districts, reminders of a past when Eregion had stood at the pinnacle of elven beauty and strength. A past without the Games. But here, and now, no legacy could withstand the cruel force of the Games. Eregion's beauty had been reduced to a tool, its people churning out weapons and armor for the Capitol’s endless wars. Their craftsmanship, once a thing of art and pride, was now a commodity. And their finest young were chosen not for their skill but for their strength in battle. A different kind of forge, now, with no room for failure."
Hey, lovelies!💕 So, confession time: I'm a huge fan of both The Hunger Games and Lord of the Rings (like, who isn't?!) and somehow my brain thought, “Hey, what if we combined the two and created something angsty and dramatic and full of feels?” So here we are!😂 Instead of working on my exams (which I really should be doing, let's be honest 🙈) or actually finishing my OG book draft ( to get published end of November/Early December), I went all in on this AU.
This fic is going to be long and multi-chapter, so buckle up because there’s a lot to unpack in this alternate world of districts, tributes, and a whole lot of emotional tension. If you're here for the angst and the drama, you've come to the right place!😏 *wink wink*
Now, just a fair warning to all my fellow Galadriel x Celeborn shippers... You might want to sit this one out if you're hoping for a rosy, happily-ever-after between them. I’ve turned Celeborn a bit darker and he’s definitely not a flawless angel in this story. (But hey, that just adds more depth to the tension, right? 👀) The dynamics between him, Galadriel, and Elrond are going to get complicated, and yes—there's lots of spice and conflict along the way.
If you're interested in joining a small server ( "A Corner of Rivendell") to talk about shipping, about those two (Elrondriel), feel free to dm me and I'll send you an invite!💕💕💕
Here is the link towards the fic:
Someone mishearing the name of Galadriel’s husband and being convinced she is married to Celegorm.
Options for this include:
Fingolfin - as a letter from Doriath is smudged in just the right place. This misunderstanding helps to contribute significantly to his decision to get crushed by Morgoth’s boot.
Caranthir - he ignores most of the going’s on from his siblings and would really like to know less about the supposed marriage of his hated cousin and least favourite brother. May they make each other miserable together. Doesn’t find out the truth until Doriath.
Angrod - he is torn between brotherly loyalty and loyalty to one who is his friend. He isn’t sure which one to feel sorry for and is Very Relieved when Finrod clears up the misunderstanding.
Finarfin - garbled rumours from across the seas. Is absolutely horrified and thinks it is yet another rebellion by his daughter. Doesn’t find out until he sees Galadriel again in Beleriand, where his first words upon greeting Celeborn are ‘thank the Valar you aren’t my nephew’
Sauron - attempts to torment Galadriel about the loss and downfall of her husband. Is very confused when she tells him that he is alive and well and that Sauron has had dinner with him! He does not recall dining with any of Feanor’s sons. He just knows that somewhere Celebrimbor’s ghost is laughing at him.
All of the above.
I wish they had brought Celeborn in somewhere, but I can see where the story elements he would bring (resentment and distrust of outsiders, for example) might conflict with other key plot threads, such as the relationship the show builds between Durin IV and Elrond. The bigger issue, though, is that he doesn't fit into the character arc created for Galadriel.
In tRoP, the goal of finding Sauron and avenging her family is the compass of Galadriel 's life: she doesn't understand how to live without that purpose driving her. With no one to effectively counterbalance her, she's more vulnerable to Sauron's manipulations, and unwittingly facilitates his return.
In my opinion, tRoP Galadriel seems more like Gil-Galad's headstrong and impetuous niece than his father's cousin. However, if the show had included Celeborn alongside a wiser Galadriel, I would have loved to see the two of them opposing Sauron in Eregion.
Galadriel: Celebrimbor, this Annatar guy is using his charm and his knowledge to manipulate you.
Celeborn: I've seen enough two-faced strangers. Throw this one out the window.
"but Celeborn would add nothing to the plot and would be boring" "he's just galadriel's boring husband" "Celeborn would make Galadriel less interesting she should just marry-"
i am now begging you to please read a book
Galadriel: Celebrimbor, this Annatar character's claims don't add up. He's using his charm and his knowledge to manipulate you. Celeborn: There's only one thing to do with honey-tongued, two-faced outsiders. Throw him out the window. Galadriel: That's...a bit excessive. Celeborn: Toss the dwarves out too. I don't know why you keep dealing with them. You can never trust a dwarf, you know. Celebrimbor: And *that* is why you have trouble making friends, Celeborn. You are too suspicious. You need to embrace new opportunities. Be more open-minded! Galadriel: Yes, but within reason. You worry me, Celebrimbor. Celebrimbor: *sparkling with creative ambition* *not listening*
tell me where is Celeborn i have much desire to see him in The Rings of Power

To everyone saying that technically Tolkien never said male elves have long hair.
Glorfindel did not get pulled into the abyss by his long blond hair for you to dismiss his hairstyle!
Celeborn doesn't translate to 'silver tree' because he had a buzz cut!
Finrod's golden locks aren't mentioned multiple times for no reason!

The Great Journey
A story about Elmo and his partner. After the journey to Aman, they settled in Alqualondë. Then first kinslaying happened and Elmo's partner had to return to Middle-earth.
I've established this HC for Oropher, Thranduil's father. Now our favorite Elvenking has a grandfather too.

I don’t think any of us should ever overlook Celeborn’s love for Galadriel, because it’s really something.
Usually in Tolkien’s texts, it’s the girl following the guy. Lúthien followed Beren to Tol-in-Gaurhoth and Angband and later into death itself, Níniel followed Turambar to Cabed-en-Aras, Elwing followed Eärendil to Valinor, Éowyn followed Faramir to Ithilien, Arwen followed Aragorn to Gondor and later into death itself, etc. Not that this is a bad thing, not at all. (It should never be deemed disempowering for a woman to follow a man she loves and who loves her and treats her right, if that is her choice.) But overall, considering the wide variety of couples in Middle-earth, it does get repetitive sometimes.
Yet with these two, it’s the opposite. Celeborn always followed Galadriel.
When Galadriel departed Doriath, Celeborn went with her. He left all his kin behind to be with her. We don’t know for sure how his kin reacted to his relationship with a Noldo, but it could very well be that they eloped. She was just that important to him.
Then for the next 2 ages, they endured all sorts of trials and tribulations together across Middle-earth and eventually settled down in Lothlórien. There, Celeborn never tried to make Galadriel subservient to him. She had as much say in how things were run as he himself did. They were true co-rulers, equals in every way.
Then finally, Celeborn temporarily let Galadriel go. He was alright with her leaving on the White Ship to see their daughter and her parents and brothers again, while he stayed behind to finish what needed to be finished. He didn’t force her to stay with him when he himself could not (yet) leave. He didn’t hold her back from reuniting with people she loved and had lost so long ago.
And ultimately, Celeborn followed Galadriel once again. Though he was a Sindar born and bred, and never before had any desire to cross the Sea, he left his own homeland behind forever to reunite with her in her homeland. She still was just that important to him.
This guy was down bad for this girl. He lived his whole life drunk on wifeguy juice. Respect Celeborn.
Accountant AU where the reader works for a small town firm called “Istari Financial.” Making her living after coming home from college, looking after the books for the following local businesses…
The local vineyard, “Greenwood Acres” which has been around longer than anyone can remember, run by a single father as head of the business and a very dedicated team of young employees. Everyone from college hires to long time employees, but nobody in town can quite tell just how old anyone is.
A local business ring run by the Durinson Family who own nearly every business in town. The local brewery, the auto repair shop, the car dealership, the pawn shop, etc. They run everything as a family, but all answer to the head of the family, a bachelor who’s yet to get married as he’s “married to his work.” Though, he secretly has his eyes set on someone in town. Who though? Nobody knows…
The bakery at the center of town, called “Lorien Confection” where the man behind the counter greets customers, serves icecream and brags about his wife while the white witch in the kitchen rolls out goodie after goodie by the dozen of sugar-coated goodness. The baker earning the title of witch as she always seems to know what people want before they do.
The coffee/tea shop doubling as a wholistic whole foods store run by three best friends who rejected their respected posh lifestyles and struck out on their own straight out of college to bring clean, organic food to the town sourced from local farms. A store called “Three Hunters Whole Foods.”
A fish farming organization called “Bard & Son Fishery,” that works hard to protect local wildlife conservation run by a father of three which provides clean, non-gmo fish, hydroponic-grown greens, vegetables and strives to teach young people about respecting the planet and sustainable farming on field trips for the local elementary school.
And who could forget the local bar/restaurant, run by the Baggins family, Uncle and Nephew, along with their friends who provide an atmosphere of home and hearth hospitality to any and all who cross their threshold…right up until somebody asks them to host a party that doesn’t involve their catering.
And last but not least, the readers worst enemy, “Mordor Credit,” the local bank out to screw everyone over and take their businesses. The reader often times being the only thing standing between them and a hefty audit…or worse, an eviction…
