I've been thinking about the Pirate AU of Hetalia. the fanarts, the fanfics, the selection of which characters would be which role, etc.
If Hetalians wrote Pirate! Nordics fanfics and drew lots fanarts because of that 1 Hetaween year, then they can totally do the same with Pirate! Seychelles. She dressed up as Captain Hook for Halloween 1 year.

Same sentiment can be made with any other country outside of Europe. like China. THere are plenty of Chinese pirates. There was even a famous WOMAN pirate leader! Zheng Yi Sao! Just do a bit of history research, and make adjustments in your writings if necessary.
