So....
....i actually got inspired to consider doing this project by my Star Wars fic, Travel Buddies, which has reached a large enough audience i often wonder of any people who might struggle to read through longer chapters, or who would love to listen and have the mental space to, but don't have the time to stare at a screen actually reading.
I sometimes throw my own stories on a text-to-speech reading to listen to while I'm physically busy doing cleaning or work or art or other tasks, and while i can fall into the story, sometimes that fake voice breaks my immersion with weird pronunciations of names and such, and I wanted to just do a reading outright.
My biggest hangup... i SUCK at voice acting. I used to practice it all the time as a kid and then i got teased all the time because i just fucking. If someone has an accent and I'm talking to them it's a struggle to not pick it up, it's not even intentional i just do it and my friends loved making me talk British or Aussie (which was often because friends in that group were in Britan and Australia xD) before i had to GO TO CLASS OR WORK FUCK

I miss it
I strangled it out of myself being self conscious without even realizing that and i kinda want fix that. I'm not the greatest I'll never be the best but i can talk decent.
I don't necessarily need to make a dedicated published project out of my practice though, so my question is-- would anyone wish to hear an audio book of my fanfics? I would be doing all of them, though I'd likely start with Leaking Spark and Travel Buddies as they have the easiest flow for me to read without getting self conscious.

This one originally started just as fucking around to try and figure out settings for setting up some custom voice presets, then I decided to work some narration in to test that out for the audio splicing practice, and then I realized I had cut some of the narration out to shorten my script up for reading said voice acting and forgot to put it back in. lmaaaao. oops. (which I only just realized while posting this, actually, now I know why it felt weird dangit XD oooooops. Missing all the scenery descriptions)
Good thing this one is just a practice not one I meant for the actual recording XD

I don't quite have his voice right, but it's so fragging close to where I want it.
SCRIPT PRACTICE: “Clarification: yes, as in proceed.” When you don’t immediately speak, he adds, “Re-clarification: deliver queries.” • “Ah, r-right. Um… So-- Sometimes, his, uh… his engine makes these funny noises, and I swear they mean something but he’s dodgy about… Explaining,” you start, the words beginning to come easier the longer you speak. “Is he… Is he okay?” you add, anxious. • “Query: what noises?” • “Sometimes it’s like… mechanical parts are moving in a way they shouldn’t, and jam up. His cooling fans kick on I feel like, a lot? Even when he’s just been parked in place for a while. Other times or at the same time, there’s strange harmonic sounds? Buzzes or tones, or like… Some of them are almost like a-- A soundless sound?” you try helplessly to explain. “I couldn’t possibly describe it to you but I can still hear it, sorta. You make them too, but not nearly so often, and they sound a little different,” you add, almost as an afterthought. • “Request: further describe observed tonal frequencies?” • “I don’t know how better to explain them, sorry. It’s like… Hearing something that’s almost there, but if someone else was talking, I probably wouldn’t hear it? It’s right on the edge of my ability to--” • A soft, tonal harmonic hum suddenly vibrates in the air around and through you, just the softest, faintest pulse. It sounds… nice. It even kind of, weirdly, feels nice, sort of soothing. It’s also fairly familiar. • “Yeah! Like that, except-- different pitches and patterns, but basically that,” you nod. • “...Statement: Anomaly discovered. Detection of Cybertronian bio-frequency signals; not typically displayed by human species.”
Attention to all of my fellow dorks, geeks and nerds out there (standing out loud & proud! 😉) & also to my fellow #ArmitageArmy members out there: I came across something quite interesting online and I thought that some of you might be interested to know about this... For @meandrichard this could be something that you could add to your future blog posts that you write and share information about RA's colleagues, both past and present, that he's worked with. In this case, about Andrew Lincoln (Chris Ryan's Strike Back - 2010) worked an audiobook in the HP Universe called: "Quidditch Through the Ages" that was released on Audible on March 15th, 2018. I thought this might be interesting to some of you and it was my pleasure for sharing!! ☺

I’ve been listening to the dramatic audio for age of myth. I’ve read the Riyria books and loved them. My friend and I are listening to this book together and it’s been fun.
So many good lines but what suck with me was.

Oh, yeah! I definitely listened to the This Man audiobook! My first thought was literally, "My predictions were mostly correct, lmao!" But I just love how intricate the story of This Man was. I really want some kind of movie made out of this too because the story is just THAT GOOD!
I honestly loved the connection between Wonwoo and Jeonghan's characters. How Wonwoo literally travels through the real world and the dream world to save Jeonghan from a hell he created himself. I love how Jeonghan's character is really portrayed to just be lost and hurt, a person who needs saving, instead of a villain. And I love how Wonwoo's character might seem like a villain, but he's really just saving people and making them have an ACTUAL good life. I related to him a lot in the audiobook.
Overall, I loved the amount of work and effort put into this concept, and I feel like it really suits Jeonghan and Wonwoo. Now I want more, lol! (Maybe they could do Greek mythology next time...?) Please feel free to share your thoughts as well! 🩷🩵
