Chapter 6: 月光 (Moonlight) for Day 6: The Moon
Crescent Moon turned misty, brown eyes warmed only by strings of light scattered on the floor. He was captured by the glow, tazed by tingling sensations in his stomach.

"rolling around on the floor" has to be one of my favourite genres of Near panels
Cryptid manifested
overthinking it
Then again, who the hell is 100% independent anyway? We all have needs for each other. It's just one of the curses of being humans.
I enjoy writing Near so much because there are aspects where he is startlingly insightful, mature and sensitive; and then there are parts of him that society would deem childish and immature. And maybe I too feel like that, maybe we all do on some level.
Tbh I hate it when the fandom infantilizes Near. It happens with L too, but especially with Near. For some reason he gets treated like he is forever 13 because he looks "baby", when for most of the manga he is 17/18. Also, seeing as he has "childish" interests, he must be totally clueless about "adult issues" (especially when it's about sex) and must be protected by those at all cost. He is codependent on the Kira task force which for the fanbase translates as all of the members acting as his parents and babysitters, not as coworkers who provide him with what he wants because he cannot work at the best of his abilities without those needs being met. Yes, Near can act childish and the Wammy house made it so he'd never be fully independent as an individual, but that doesn't mean he is a clueless kid without any agency of his own.
No for sure it's meant to be ironic how he's simultaneously the most child-like and yet arguably one of the wiser/more mature characters + a whole lot of judgmental and sass 🤣🤣🤣
He can go on an existential monologue and after which I would still boop his nose
The page featuring the panel with Near insulting Takada’s intellect is placed directly beneath the one where he’s fooling around with rubber ducks. Imagine badmouthing a To Oh university elite and then resuming your Sesame Street tomfoolery with a straight face. Near is something else. He has no shame.
