It looks like a tampon
Please God let this be a blunt
reminds me of when in class we saw a interview to people with down syndrome and one of my classmates asked if that channel only interviewed people with real problems or if they also interviewed people from the lgbtq+ community, like ?? I guess living with the fear of getting killed just because you exist isn't an actual problem just because we had a couple of vaguely implied queer characters in Disney
“the rep in the Star Beast was too on the nose why can’t characters be trans without it being brought up” because we’re not there yet. I’m sorry but we literally haven’t reached that point where trans people have become normalised enough in the mainstream. I’m begging you to go outside and realise that the average British viewer (and I’m gonna talk just from a British perspective even tho ik doctor who is on disney+ now) is not yet educated on trans people enough to go “oh pronouns? they/them pronouns? genderfluidity? yes I’m aware of all of that and I accept it wholeheartedly without question”. That’s just not true, otherwise we wouldn’t be in a fucking war against terfs right now. We need Russel T Davis to say “right. sit down and shut up for a moment I am going to once and for all spell out that trans people exist, people outside of the gender binary exist, it is normal to ask for and respect people’s pronouns and the Doctor is literally a genderfluid being that does not adhere to strict gender rules.” He needed to do that to explain to the average viewer what Doctor Who is all about and that he wasn’t going to take this bullshit terf movement lying down.
And you know what? We also needed that for all the trans kids and trans adults who still haven’t found the language they need to express themselves. Believe it or not, there are still people in situations were being trans is not normalised at all and is not even talked about, who are still struggling to understand themselves and how they feel. As someone who once had no idea what trans people even were (and to put it into context, I was 13 when I found out about trans people. I am only 19 years old now. That was only six years ago), to see a character just use they/them pronouns and for it to never be mentioned would have gone right over my head. It would have meant nothing to me. But to see a character outright talk about being trans, an have the other characters outright explain what that meant, it would have actually helped to get the gears in motion.
The Doctor Who fandom is not completely localised in niche little internet communities that already know about trans people. The Doctor Who fandom contains kids, teenagers, adults, people who only know Classic Who, people who only know one or two characters, parents who have been roped in to watching it, families, old people, casual viewers, die-hard viewers, queer people, trans people, cishet people, and on and on and on it goes because Doctor Who has spanned 60 years and has almost exclusively aired in a very small country with a lot of very close-minded people.
Russel T Davis did this for all of us. Not just to add in rep for the sake of brownie points but to actively make a difference in a climate that is extremely hostile towards trans people at the moment. Please for the love of God think of other perspectives instead of getting onto your high horse and saying “why can’t we just have queer people where it’s never mentioned” because sometimes that isn’t enough!! Sometimes it does actually have to be explained in order to make a difference!! Especially in the context of Doctor Who bc it is NOT just a tumblr show. It is a massive, institutional television show that everyone fucking watches.
Why are some fic writers obsessed with writing smut about a 16 yo reader calling daddy a man with with 2 kids older than her
Like, seriously, I was seeing stuff about bg3 and Fionna & cake and suddenly this FP Jones fanfic pops out of nowhere
One day I'm gonna make an asmr video that's just the noise my ankle makes when I exist too much
I'm trying to do better and stop sh but I can't if when I block a hashtag that is triggering there's people talking about how happy they are they reached beans for the first time with c3ns0r3d tags or how they've lost a pound or two in a week or stuff like that
I know this won't stop people from doing any of that but please at least don't post your sh pictures with no "read more" on the SFX tag
