Rule #9 - Child of the Stars by Fish in a Birdcage
It was released on March 15, 2016
Fun Fact: Dustan wondered what sort of letter/message he might write to a child, if he had one. As he was creating this song, he sang it for some friends during a hike. “I believe in who you are!”

Fun Fact: And so it proved with viral success of Mary on a Cross. In September 2022, a TikTok user uploaded a slowed-down, reverb-heavy version of the three-year-old song to soundtrack a compilation of Stranger Things scenes. It blew up and before long there were more than 300,000 TikTok vids using either the original or alternative iteration of the track. Song #175
Treehouse by Alex G
It was released January 17, 2011
Fun Fact: The song is about a person who has someone that’s really special to them, However, it does seem to be a little dark when they say “I don’t think I’m ever gonna let you leave.” This does show how someone would feel selfishness, trying to keep someone all to themselves and only spending time with them (hence the, being in a treehouse and only allowing the person they want to stay in it). The song frames this in a really innocent and friendly way, as treehouses are usually associated with fun and childhood. It masks the darkness.

Song #177
Devil Town by Cavetown
It was released on November 9, 2015
Fun Fact: The song follows the trials and tribulations of a young person’s life, exploring themes of Divorce, Anxiety, and Fear – Experiences many young people can relate to. Also weaved throughout are subtle implications of insanity and mania, and imagery suggests that the young person in question is possibly in some sort of mental asylum: Dressing gowns, forgetting their own name, spiders in shoes, and the actual name of “devil town” all have connotations commonly associated with mental asylums.
