I Am Forever Haunted By The Irony That The Form Alastor Took In Hell Is A Deer Due To His Past As A Serial

I am forever haunted by the irony that the form Alastor took in Hell is a deer due to his past as a serial killer (with a morality described as being supposedly like the titular character in "Dexter") aka the hunter that hunts his intended prey but now... He's BECOME the prey himself.

And boy does he clearly hate that fact. Being seen as weak and helpless. Adding to the irony is that the supposed cause of his death being due to a hunter mistaking him for a deer while he was occupied with burying a body. Basically the hunter became the prey! He prides himself as being powerful but then Adam nearly killing him gave him a nasty wake-up call. He flew too close to the sun and is slowly realizing it with the only option he felt that he had is breaking free from his own deal. That was his conclusion about solving that "problem." He's grown that desperate and hides it all with a smile at the same time.

To appear to be in control as he said to Charlie:

"Just because you see a smile, don't think you know what's going on underneath. A smile is a valuable tool, my dear. It inspires your friends, keeps your enemies guessing, and ensures that, no matter what comes your way, YOU'RE the one in control."

Idk man I'm just going feral with that sad irony along with adding a double whammy to his breakdown at the end of S1! Bro's going through things and plans to potentially double down despite him realizing that he's starting to care about everyone even just a little bit.

Goofy and awkward as all hell

Will kill you if you hurt their loved ones

Estranged relationship with daughters

Started out idealistic but it gets beaten out of them b/c of traumatic events.

Regains said idealism and found more purpose in their lives.

Traumatized af they need serious therapy.

Guilty of complacency in some shape or form when it comes to horrific events (Lucifer with allowing the exterminations as long as Hellborns (Charlie included) aren't harmed or killed, Zenkichi with allowing his wife's death to be covered up so that Akane won't be harmed or killed)

A phenomenon I’ve seen in fandom with a large central ship is that people will have their shipping goggles activated at such an intensity, they doggedly erase character traits that don’t contribute to pushing forward romance. The two individuals in the relationship are rendered utterly one-dimensional through the loss of any individual aspects of their story or personality that could be interpreted as an obstacle to shipping.

This makes fanon interpretations of the characters boring and uninteresting to read about because they have no character traits other than being in love with their romantic interest. I like shipping as much as the next guy, but I hate fandom-at-large’s tendency to only engage with a story through shipping, and especially to the extent that the characters are barely individuals, and do not exist outside of the central romantic relationship
