Dumb headcanon/au (idk how to classify it tbh) but the death note "spoils" any instrument used to write in it regularly. So anyone who writes in the death note like 20 or more times (or something like that) gets scars (due to damage) from where they held the writing utensil. So Light, Mikami, Misa, etc all have identical scars on their hands from the death note
