that being said, that cage is WAY too small for your pet golfball; they need at least a 20long tank with at least one sand trap and water hazard (you dont HAVE to cultivate creeping bentgrass for the nesting area, regardless of what the purists say, but make sure at least zoysia is available for frolicking upon). 

Golfballs are similar to chinchillas in that they love a good dust bath, and they dont have the tightly-packed fur which makes water baths very dangerous for chinchillas (and rabbits) so it is important they have access to both. 

If that’s a temporary enclosure while you’re cleaning the main tank thats fine i suppose, but golfballs really prefer being kept in shallow cups for that sort of thing; they get stressed when they cant see above them.

Sometimes I get frustrated with the amount of effort and weird dynamics and just general bullshit it’s been taking to get this paper through, and then I remember that my partner was so proud of the last paper I published (that he can’t understand; he’s proud of the accomplishment in general, not the content) that it’s displayed in our house and it’s honestly the sweetest and most encouraging if very specifically him thing that he could have done.
