TURKEY IS BEING BURNT DOWN! and It’s not a natural disaster, it’s arson. literal terror. a crime. there are 81 fires going on in 23 different cities. this has been going on for 2 days. people are dying, losing their homes.
helicopters, drones, planes and thousands of firemen are currently trying to control fires in 10 different locations in southern Turkey. so far, three people have died, hundreds of animals have perished and several settlements are being evacuated.
A WHOLE country is on fire please that is not something you can underestimate.

some very important info re: paid accounts~
I am not a lawyer, but I can decently interpret legalese and, being as I also suffer from tl;dr syndrome and assume others may as well, I took one for the team and went through the updated TOS for the post+ accounts and highlighted (what I understand to be) the most pertinent information, which ultimately comes down to this:
You cannot monetize copyrighted works (aka charge and earn money from fanfic, fanworks, etc) and if you do decide to put your fanworks behind a paywall via Tumblr, when you are inevitably sued, Tumblr will not protect you and will not defend you and you alone, personally, will be responsible for whatever monetary damages said lawsuit results in.
If anyone is a lawyer and knows I've gotten any of this wrong, please do not hesitate to correct me/this post.

1. Your paid account will not be hosted by tumblr; it is routed through a 3rd party.
2. By signing up for a paid account, you're entering into an agreement with Stripe, so in addition to Tumblr's TOS, you are also bound to Stripe's TOS.
3. Stripe, like Tumblr, will not defend you or protect you against any lawsuits.
4. Furthermore, you may end up owing Stripe money (indemnify = compensate)
5. Tumblr's TOS specifically states that you can't put any content on your post+ account that violates any laws, including laws that protect intellectual property rights of others. This is super important, because Tumblr's post+ FAQ also states that you can post anything that you would regularly post on tumblr, which I'm sure many will take to mean that gifsets, fanworks, etc are fair game, since all of that stuff can be posted on tumblr now. However, the difference is, you're not making money from the fanworks you're posting or reblogging now. Once money enters the equation, the game changes.
Tumblr is making it seem like any and all content goes for post+ accounts, knowing 90% of this site is fanworks. This is not true and you'll be opening yourself up for lawsuits if you charge for fanworks.
6. Tumblr further disclaims any and all liability in any legal issues.
tl;dr: Please do not make a post+ account, bc you will be opening yourself to lawsuits and if that happens, Tumblr's response will be not our problem, you agreed to all the terms which said you couldn't do that, sorry not sorry. Please protect yourself.

As a gender nonconforming cis dyke, I’ve received a lot of weird hostility in bathrooms. Like, a lot. The mild but frequent stuff is when people see me, do a visible double take, and go check the sign again. The not entirely common, more aggressive stuff is when people verbally question why I’m there. More than once I’ve had someone call me “it” or confront me about my gender in public settings. I’ve had people try to tell me to leave.
But the only place I’ve had someone physically try to remove me from a bathroom was in London.
Some random middle aged woman thought that she had the right to put her hands on me simply because I don’t match her ideas of what femininity is, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this happened in a place where transphobia is running rampant. Of all the weird stuff that’s happened to me in pretty conservative parts of the US, they simply are not as emboldened here as they currently are in the UK; but don’t think for a moment that they don’t intend to get there.
Trans people are reason enough to fight these bigots. It’s a good enough reason. Trans people deserve respect, dignity, compassion, and protection. But if you think they’ll be satisfied with only pushing trans people back into the closet, you’re utterly deluded. They want absolute conformity, simple as that, and they’re increasing their push here too.
Any lesbian who aligns herself with transphobia is a traitor. Simple as that.

As I mentioned earlier this morning, my grandmother on my father’s side has passed. This is a huge blow for us as you can imagine. She’s not having a funeral, but she is having a memorial service. The only problem is that we (the four members of my family in Georgia) have to get to Philadelphia by June 30th for the service. This is a really sudden ask I know, and for such a big amount of money, but we literally have nowhere else to turn to.
We’re going to need $2,000 in total to pay for the flight to Philly, a car rental (for when we’re in Philly, to get around), and a hotel room. there's something lorde touches on in her latest guardian interview that I want to talk about and this is not a dig at her specifically, but a common idealist fantasy I've observed in white ppl under 25 is the desire to run away from society and start their own communities where they can heal etc and, look, I get it. I do. but please remember, no matter where you go you are on Indigenous lands. all this fantasy talk of running away and living in the woods/starting a community is premised on the colonial assumption the land is empty and unoccupied, and waiting for you to claim your dreams on it. I hope I don't need to tell you what atrocities that kind of thinking led your ancestors to do. A LOT of ✨cottagecore✨ is actually just cutesied up Nativism. if you care about the Earth, the most important, radical and vital action you can take is being an ally to Indigenous peoples and supporting Indigenous sovereignty. Not doing so is just being complicit in colonialism, no matter how "green" or in tune with the Earth you think you are. Indigenous peoples cared over this planet and its resources for 1000s of years without harming either. A better future for all of us lies in Indigenous autonomy and sovereignty and land back. Nothing more, nothing less.

Please, with everything that I have in me, I am begging for help for a family of 2 disabled black siblings (my autistic brother & myself with a physical disability) to not go homeless again during this pandemic.
For those who don’t know, I am a physically disabled black woman and the sole caretaker of my autistic brother. Last year, we lost the home our father worked his entire life for after he passed away. My brother and I were made homeless.
Since, we’ve been able to rent a home. But with our unique situation of no income, no rental history, no credit… nobody wants us as renters and the only deal we were able to get was to pay our entire YEAR’s worth of rent up front.
The last I updated you all, we were waiting on a hearing to determine the status of my brother’s disability case. We have been fighting for his disability for the whole year since we moved across the country, and after it was illegitimately denied TWICE before… the hearing that was set for June 3rd finally came. It was our last hope to get the funds we need to pay our upcoming rent. But when the date came… after waiting tirelessly… we were informed that it was postponed until 3 months from now.
Three Months.
Our lease ends at the end of July, we DO NOT have Three Months. The way the disabled are discarded like nothing is unbearable. You have no idea the pain I felt that day… seeing them treat a case that is so important that it stands between us and our home… like just another file. Like it means nothing. And this is what I mean when I say…
They Do NOT Want Us To Live.
It would have been our last hope at stable income to be able to pay our rent normally. We do not have any income at this time. Even the art that I was making was taken down by Etsy. Everyday I wake up in agony of not knowing what’s going to happen next.
Call after call with no leads to any help. I haven’t had any transportation for the entire year since we were first kicked out of the only home we ever knew, and it’s been so unbelievably hard to find any work that I’m capable of without it.
I have given my everything.
And I have gotten nothing back.
And with all of it, I still sit here with my only sliver of hope to reach out to anyone who might see this.
For the past several months, I have been trying to work up the courage to ask for help again. The strength to reach out again. If it was just me, I don’t think I could do this. But my brother, who has no way whatsoever of taking care of himself… what is he supposed to do if we lose our home? It has taken everything in me to sit here and write this cry for assistance.. but cry, I must.
I have done nothing but look for other options. Tirelessly, day in and day out I have reached out to so many of these “resources” who are supposed to help us in times like this and time and time again, I have been shut down. My willpower has been crushed so much it’s not even describable.
If you can help us, please know that even the lowest amount that you can possibly afford could help us right now. I’m so scared of losing everything again.
I haven’t been able to rest. Every moment I’m awake just brings me back to the trauma I’ve experienced this year.
I would just like to say with you all that
Disabled Black Lives Matter.
We deserve to feel safe and secure. We deserve a world that cares what happens to us. I know there are people out there who do. So I am asking you, one more time.
