When absolutely 0 of Bidenâs accomplishments have made any kind of news, and weâve been fed a steady diet of fear and panic for 3 years, no one gets to be shocked when he loses the next election to Donald 2.0.
Posting anything positive about the president here will get you called a capitalist bootlicker.
What do we expect to happen?
Anger sells better. Anger feels better, it feels righteous.
Itâs easier to protest against a president you donât like then to actually remain in charge and keep pushing ahead, even if small, consistent accomplishments are all you receive.
it's been said in smarter ways by smarter people. but keeping 'difficult' books and topics away from children is incredibly unfair to those kids who Cant escape 'difficult' life circumstances.
why does little timmy, age 7, white, get to avoid knowledge of racism while little timmy, age 7, black, is expected to navigate a racist world while his peers -unknowingly or otherwise- contribute to his trauma about that heinous status quo?
why does little timmy, age 7, csa victim, have to live in a world where he doesn't know that what his parents are doing to him is wrong because he's never heard the language necessary to communicate what's happening nor does he know it's abnormal?
why do kids who have good lives get to have childhoods completely free of empathy or the ability to reach out to kids who are having a rough time? why do the kids who are having a rough time need to remain silent and uneducated about their own pain?
who is helped by a lack of information besides those adults who are already in power?
struggling with how to word this, but putting it out there anyway:
i can fully understand the posts on here from a lot of americans being tired of âvote blue no matter whoâ posts when the #1 thing that people are constantly (and sometimes only?) addressing is how the republican party is going treat trans/queer people if elected.
itâs part of an unfortunate pattern of prioritizing the effects on a demographic that includes white + upper class people, when people of color and those in the global south are actively and currently being killed or relegated to circumstances in which their survival is very unlikely
it is genuinely exhausting to witness this, and i was also on the fence about even participating in voting because i a) felt like it didnât matter and b) every time i voiced being frustrated with the current state of the country, white queer people would immediately step in with âbut what about trans people!â -> (i am mixed race trans man)
and i say this with unending patience toward people who do this, because i know that itâs not something they actively think about. but everyone already knows how the republican party is going to treat queer people. you are probably talking to another queer person when you bring up project 2025. the issue is that, for those of us who arenât white, or for those of us who are but who are conscious of ongoing struggles for people of color worldwide, the safety of people around the world feels more urgent than our own. that is the calculation thatâs being made.
youâre not going to win votes for the democratic party by dismissing or minimizing these realities and by continually centering (white) queer people.
very few people on here and twitter are actually talking about issues beyond queer rights that concern people of color, or how the two administrations differ on these issues instead of constantly circling back to single-issue politics. this isnât an exhaustive list. but these are the issues that have actually altered my perspective and motivated me to the point of committing to casting a vote
the biden administration has been engaged in a years-long fight to allow new applicants to DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the program that allows undocumented individuals who arrived as children to remain in the country) after the Trump administration attempted to terminate it. the program is in limbo currently because of the actions of Trump-backed judges, with those who applied before the ruling being allowed to stay, but no new applications are being processed. Trump has repeatedly toyed with the idea of just deporting the 1.8 million people, but he continues to change his mind depending on whatever the fuck goes on in his head. he cannot be relied on to be sympathetic toward people of hispanic descent or to guarantee that DREAMers will be allowed stay in the country. biden + a democratic controlled congress will allow legal challenges to the DACA moratorium to gain ground.
the biden administration is open to returning and protecting portions of culturally important indigenous land in a way that the trump administration absolutely does not give a fuck. as of may 2024, they have established seven national monuments with plans to expand the San Gabriel Monument where the Gabrielino, Kizh / Tongva, the Chumash, Kitanemuk, Serrano, and Tataviam reside. the Berryessa Snow Mountain is also on the list, as a sacred region to the Patwin.
iâm recognizing that the USâs plans for clean energy have often come into conflict with tribal sovereignty, and the biden administration could absolutely do better in navigating this. but the unfortunate dichotomy is that there would be zero commitment or investment in clean energy under a trump-led government, which poses an astounding existential threat and destabilizing force to the global south beyond any human-to-human conflict. climate change has caused and will continue to cause resource shortages, greater natural disasters, and near-lethal living conditions for those in the tropics - and the actions of the highest energy consumers (US) are to blame. biden has funneled billions of dollars into climate change mitigation and clean energy generation - trump does not believe that any of it matters.
i may circle back to this and add more as it comes up, but iâm hoping that those who are skeptical / discouraged / tired of the white queer-centric discourse on tumblr and twitter can at least process some of this. please feel free to add more articles + points but iâm asking for the sake of this post to please focus on issues that affect people of color.
question: would you be mad if there were still giant insects
no. i think that would whip ass actually
Unpopular opinion
We are in an age of not just misinformation, but mostly willful anti intellectualism
People will say "how could i have known that?" And never look for different perspectives
It has always been the case, but it is so bad that otherwise pretty smart and open minded people will refuse to change their stance in light of new information
Also people are getting lazier when it comes to reading but refuse to put in the effort of getting through one page and love blaming anything and everything
So I actually follow a creator, whose activism work I deeply admire, who believes that if you are not willing and able to explain things at an eighth grade level, then you do not actually care about disseminating information or about how well people with intellectual disabilities receive that information. Itâs the idea that the average person understands at an eighth grade level and therefore, if you are not willing or able to have conversations at that level, then you do not actually care about doing the work and while I deeply respect and agree with her on many things, nothing could be further from what I believe.
People jumped my ass for years because I refused to put TLDRs on my posts. I refused to subscribe to the idea that people are incapable of learning. I refuse to subscribe to the idea that people are incapable of digesting complex topics. The world is deeply complex, and these topics require intricate knowledge of the world. I have always maintained that if you were not willing to do the intellectual labor learning, you do not actually care about doing the work and Iâm wasting my time talking to you in the first place. ïżŒ
On some level, I empathize with the fact that learning is in fact an intellectual labor. The keyword there are being labor. And in the world, especially in America, where you are constantly exploited via labor for profit and forced to do an unhealthy amount of labor every single day, further choosing to undergo an intellectual labor like learning feels more oppressive. ïżŒ
But you are never going to be able to accurately and fully engage with the world around you simply refuse to learn. And so I am not an entry-level person to be having conversations with, and I will never done myself down in an attempt to convey complex topics in ways that are less than what they deserve

The International Court of Justice told Israel to immediately halt its attack on Rafah. So Israel decided to bomb a UN tent camp.
We are witnessing beheaded children being pulled out of a a sea of burning tents. We are witnessing the bombing of displaced people in a humanitarian area.
I didnât think we could see anything more brutal than the things weâve seen in the last eight months. But tonightâs massacre in Rafah is unspeakable. There are truly no words left.
If you cannot stop the injustice, please, at least speak up about it.
why did white people stop assassinating their own presidents... nobody wants to work anymore
happy PRIDE iâm here iâm queer and i believe the land should be given back to the proper indigenous stewards.
This is beyond utterly horrifying.
Every single government in the world who didn't demand a permanent ceasefire nearly 10 months ago or with whom didn't state that Israhell must be sanctioned for their consecutive war crimes and crimes against humanity (and we know who you all are) -you have blood on your hands (and we also know you know this and most definitely don't care but the tide will not always be in your favour).
10 months... I repeat nearly 10 months have gone by and no one sitting in comfy chairs in offices with affluence and power have stopped this brutal mass acceleration of ethnic cleansing being done by a top ten military power in the world that is fully funded and backed by the United States government.
Palestinians have been and continue to be slaughtered EVERYWHERE in Gaza. In their homes, at schools, at places of worship, at any place of refuge -refugee camps... and so many still haven't even turned their way to see just how despicable it is because of the continuous dehumanization of Palestinian people.
And yet we are still supposed to believe this is about Hamas? This is about fighting terrorists? What exactly would it be called to bombard a civilian population who is trapped, is being starved and bombed to death, is being targeted with new war technology, and is being told ANY resistance to that is real terrorism...
You have zero humanity if you haven't seen what has been happening to Palestinians and haven't demanded Israel be sanctioned and brought to international courts for war crimes and genocide.
I will never forgive nor forget the world/any person turning their backs on Palestinian people.

Saying "the psychiatric system just wants to help people!" is honestly nearly as naive as saying "the police just wants to protect people!" Both are in fact powerful institutions built to protect our current inhumane society. And it's not that these institutions never help anyone, but that's not their main purpose as societal institutions of power and it's important to be aware of that
So I google search, âhow to keep going when you lose motivationâ and 7/10 are about weight-loss motivation. This should not happen.
exactly, my first reaction to this was not âoh itâs harder to study therefore we shouldnâtâ but that âif anything doesnât that mean they wonât know how to do itâ??????
Hey did you know that you canât escape fatphobia even after death? The article talks about how these donated bodies are used for first year anatomy students to study the body, and how the 'perfect' body for that should be 170-180 pounds.

Dang. Idk if anyone has ever laid out Donald Trumpâs entanglement with Russia sO clearly.
If youâve had enough of watching the Trump clowns defending Trump & white supremacy, the Sutori link is definitely worth reading. It is a very enlightening, detailed and comprehensive timeline that puts Trumpâs very very long history with Russian mobsters into sharp perspective.

I wish age gap discourse hadn't spiraled the way it has because I want there to be a safe space to say "Men in their 40s who date 25 year olds aren't predators, they're just fucking losers"
I dreamed I met Spring inside my fridge
i will die without routine. also this routine is killing me
When Adam bit the apple he did it because he trusted Eve. Because he loved her. Adam bit into the apple because the woman he loved told him to, no matter what God said. No matter the rules of heaven. What's heaven to a woman's love anyway? What's God to your wife? The first sins of humanity, were trusting others. Eve trusted a snake, Adam trusted Eve, and I trust you. Maybe that's a sin, just like the first couple. Maybe everyone's right about us and we're sinners and we offend God. But like I said, what's God to a woman's love anyway? What has heaven got that I can't find sitting next to you on a cool autumn morning?
