Decided to try and remake Doctor from Homestuck in Ultrabox with the help of a MIDI I found on Online Sequencer.

Got started on trying to make a cool ambient piece for myself recently.

It's just the first 20 seconds for now, but I'll work my way towards making it a full piece. Or at least half of a full piece, I dunno.

Today, I drew Kabbu from Bug Fables and learned some very important things about art.

Flipping your drawing is actually super good.

Don't make your final line art on the same layer as your sketch like an idiot. (The time I spent cleaning up those artifacts only for several to remain was more everlasting than the sapling.)

Don't rush your shading. I know damn well I could've done a LOT better with that if I didn't automatically resort to trying to get it all over with.

It's probably worth experimenting with arms.

Yes, it's messy. Yes, it was tough to finish because it was messy. Yes, I tried to make it look like he was wearing a hood and then proceeded to change absolutely nothing else. I have now learned my lesson.

I'm. probably going to redo this or something idk.

This is. Probably one of the longest WIPs I have right now.

Pretty cool so far, I think.

Honestly, I gotta draw something just for the sake of posting it here.

That's like, one of the best things a man can do in his room.

I think the best way to experience social media is not to endlessly scroll without really looking at anything you place a like on, but to put aside the For You page every now and then just post some cool stuff yourself.

I take comfort in the times where I just stop caring about anything else that happens here and just focus on posting cool art I make. Also, I’m thinking about just signing onto Tumblr on my home computer so I don’t have the curse of temptation in my pocket at all times.

Kinda like the 2000s and 90s when people got excited about exploring the web on their personal computers when they got home from school—definitely one hell of a thing that made the Internet special back then. When the web is an experience to look forward to rather than something that becomes your whole life, it’s quite nice.

Bottom line is, treat social media like a good friend. Hang out with it every now and then, but don’t let it latch onto you like a parasite. Reserve it for your home computer instead of your phone. You’ll find it might be a bit cooler that way.

Maybe explore some other aspects that made the Internet enjoyable in the 90s-2010s; and try to bring ‘em back. Might make the Core Web a better place. :)
