I just want to say thank you. To literally everyone who I've met and became friends with and bonded with because of the bad batch. I just finished the episode and it feels so overwhelming. God I'm going to fucking miss this show (forgive me for my language). Thank you for everything. Honestly. The Bad Batch community has made me laugh, cry, and literally everything in between and I know, and hope people will continue to talk about the bad batch forever.
Thank you everyone who worked on the bad batch.
Another thing to add to the bad batch brainrot: someone on the creative team is a massive Alien (1979) fan. I mean the whole Episode with the Zillo beast clone, scary abandoned space ship, unhurtable foreign species, weird technology who doesn’t give all the information at first, you’re not supposed to split up, tech, but they do anyways and the entire theme of “this is fucked up because humans can’t let nature be and must use it as weaponry”.
Thanks for hearing me out!
Edit: I just remembered how alien ends (everybody dies (no, that’s not a Spoiler the film is 45 years old)) and suddenly im not very happy about my theory that it could have inspired bad batch.
I just realised they stripped their armour imagine if Tech had been there, oh I'd love to see his armour stripped, he'd probably be super argumentative over it 😭
And I forgot to say Echo was so allwowpalegehwiwi in this episode. Slay king. Go off 👏 I celebrated when he showed up
Guys I'm slurping up Rampart in that imperial uniform I've fallen from grace now please contact me in 24 business hours and maybe I'll be saved
New episode was so underwhelming please 😭
I loved the Phee content though <3
How are us bad batch fans fairing? Prepared for tomorrow? I know I'm not, I'm quaking, I'm terrified
Guys he's just a lil cutie patootie, deserves more screen time in season 2 pls pls
I need therapy after that Loki season 2 finale
Does anyone go through a stage of having a small obsession with a member of the Bad Batch? First it was Tech (always will be), then Crosshair, then Echo and now I’m in my Hunter era where I’m giggling over one shot ideas.
Dr Connors is a snack in this game. I love him. I might just have a lizard obsession. Damn you Earth 65 Peter
Take a gif of Rio Morales because she is so beautiful she's such a vibe

The foreshadowing :'))
I love you Gwen's Peter Parker
HES BACK GUY HES BACK HES BACK
Ezra Bridger my beloved <3
WE FOUND HIM
Gwen Stacy's Peter Parker didn't deserve to die
I love him rewatching across the spiderverse just for him
Can we talk about self love rq from Across the Spiderverse and how it sums up Gwen's relationship with the people in her lives
Notice how everything is in third person in the song, using the word's she, her, etc. This song is about Gwen, we know that because it's layered over her backstory. Notice how it's her backstory, the song itself could be seen because of this third person pov that Gwen herself has in a way written these lyrics, as we know she used to be in a band and talks about not being able to find that band she's looking for.
In the verses, the lyrics
"Oh my, she's a long way from suburban towns
Came to the city for the love, got her hurtin' now"
- This referring to Miles, but also referring to the spider society in general because she's moved from her dimension (Yes she doesn't live in a suburban town when we see her universe but we're going for metaphors)
The chorus itself is obvious enough with the lines
"Self-love, he don't love himself, tryna love me"
- About Gwen's Peter. Although it isn't stated explicitly I do believe, at least on Peter's side he may have liked Gwen perhaps more than a friend. I get the idea they're meant to be presented as the best friends from childhood with one of them secretly having a crush on the other. So the he don't love himself is Peter's drive to become special like Gwen, brought on by the bullying thats plagued him throughout school life. He doesn't like the fact he can't stand up by himself. And the tryna love me part is again his love for her
"Cuff me, told the truth to him, he don't trust me"
This one is even more obvious with it being in regards to Gwen and her father, but specifically the point the reveal is made in the film. When Miguel and Jess come to take the Vulture back. The cuff me part represents of course the fact that George is a police officer, and has wanted to arrest spider-woman for a while now for Peter's death. Told the truth to him is again in regards to the reveal scene. She takes off the mask, reveals her identity to George. But George is hit with the realisation that's she been keeping it from him. He don't trust me - she's kept it for so long that now George is unsure what to do, but still fires his gun and is ready to arrest her if needed
This part of the lyrics establishes Gwen as a character. She has big dreams, she wants to be in a band, she wants to have Miles back, she's spider woman. But she also has big screams, her drumming is her shout to be heard, for someone to hear and understand the emotions she feels.
The line she's impressionable establishes how she wants this acceptance and ends up conforming to the spider society. Doing the things she believes is right because "we're meant to be the good guys". Even chasing after Miles because she's being told it's the right thing to do.
From live and questionable to drop top convertibles establishes how she was originally with her friends in her dimension, like with the MJ's band. She was this lively girl who maybe she was somewhat introverted but she definitely had a good relationship with them until Peter died because we see her wave to them and smile at the prom.
Love hangin' out, say you hate it now is a reference to how everything changed that one night. The prom night. How she lost her best friend, her identity, her vigilante but superhero role was in jeopardy because she was accused of being a murderer. She's stopped hanging out much, it's hard for her to do now she's lost the person close to her, Peter was likely even closer than George, seeing as they were best friends since around 4. And again the feelin' introvertical is a reference to how introverted she has become. Not only is it tragic because he died, but she was the one who accidentally caused it.
Anyway just had to quickly rant about atsv again :))
one thing i keep thinking about is that Peter Parker/Lizard of Earth 65 is notably pretty non hostile by the standards of the Lizard, who are normally completely feral or outright malicious, but after Peter transformers, he beelines straight at the guy who was actively bullying him and he doesn't attack anyone else until HE is attacked; most of the damage he does seems to be completely accidental and i think its probably pretty likely that if he had lived that night and if he was stuck as the Lizard, he'd probably remain relatively harmless as far as turning yourself into a huge monster to be rid of the pain of being human goes
This this! I'd been thinking that too because when I rewatched it recently I did notice he was going specifically for Ned rather than just attacking anyone he could see
Okay this post was originally going to be me talking about one of my favourite shots from Across The Spiderverse but it's just turned into an analysis of Gwen's Peter Parker + Peter Parker's in general, and specifically Gwen and her Peter's relationship.
Across The Spiderverse is a work of art and I just wanted to talk about one of my favourite shots from the entire movie (there's a lot, but this one in particular)
This shot right here + the zoomed out one too a little later (but specifically the first one)
I love how the lighting works in this scene. We know that Gwen's dimensional colour changes depending on her mood, but in this moment with the reds and blues working together it feels like it's establishing not only her Peter Parker, but all other Peter's from their dimensions too. The way those specific colours, the colour pallete of spiderman falls onto Peter and makes it look as though he's wearing a spiderman suit himself. It establishes how Peter Parker's have this hero demeanour. Even if Gwen's Peter Parker was the lizard, he himself wanted to be a hero even though he was powerless, like he says to Gwen.
This is a dimension where Peter Parker exists but he's not in his traditional spiderman role, but he still holds those heroic traits to heart. He may have been given the line from his uncle Ben "With great power comes great responsibility" or he may not have said these words to him but believes in that phrase. I also believe Peter's uncle is alive during the events of the backstory, as in this shot there's a man on the right of the screen at the foreground, and we know the woman next to him is aunt May as we see her in a shot before and we also see Captain George Stacy walk past.
Peter also heavily stands up for spiderwoman in this scene, I think specifically because he knows/ has a hunch that it is Gwen under the mask, as we later learn he knows during his death. Throughout the backstory montage Gwen also talks about this idea of them not knowing her, but also her not really knowing Peter.
However, through the backstory we get the idea that Peter is trying to cross that bridge to understand her more, to get to know her. He's trying and trying to open himself to her to allow for her to tell him she's spiderwoman like he knows, but when it eventually comes to his death she still keeps the secret, she doesn't let Peter get to the other end of the bridge. Which eventually leads to Gwen's emotional breakdown, bottling up her feelings and seeking validation from anyone she can. Then Into The Spiderverse happens.
And throughout the film, there are countless mentions to how she doesn't do friends anymore because of what happened to her Peter.
Speaking of her Peter, let's quickly talk about earth 1610's Peter. In this dimension he is blonde, contrasting other Peter Parker's like Andrew Garfield's, Toby Maguire's, Tom Holland's, even Peter B Parker's in this film. As we learn in Into the Spiderverse, Gwen is thrown in a week in the past, before the collider is turned on
Notice how she sees the footage of Spider-Man rescuing people from said earthquakes when we also see the same thing later. She and all the other spider people eventually see the announcement on the news that Peter Parker/Spiderman is dead. And what's shown on the news feed during this moment?
They show a photo of Spiderman and Peter Parker. Gwen would have seen this most likely, as we know Peter B Parker did. So her line later to Peter B Parker about MJ makes a lot more sense
She likely saw the news and suddenly felt overwhelmed as she recognised this Peter. Yes it's not her Peter, and a much older Peter, but she'd still most likely see her Peter in this Peter's face. She was in the same place Peter B was in this moment, she suddenly felt all these emotions he feels.
In a way, Gwen's Peter is like a ghost. He stays with her, being the reason she bottles her emotions and keeps herself restricted from everyone around her, pushing away likely friends until Miles. His death pushes Gwen into using work to get by, using her spiderwoman title to hide the pain that was her losing her best friend. We see her slowly open up in Across the Spiderverse, which are the reasons she acts like she does in the film, she never meant to hurt Miles, she just wanted the validation she so desired that she used to get from her Peter, and she found it in the spider society.
Surprise attack hug
If Beyond The Spiderverse does not open up with
"I'm Miles G Morales
But you can call me the Prowler"
(Insert cool backstory montage here)
I will be surprised
